Gaming Football Manager 2010

Composure and anticipation are more (though not solely) offensive stats, I think, but otherwise that looks very good. What about heading and tackling, though? It's all well and good to have great "secondary" stats, but those two are fairly essential.

Bought Gourcuff for 20 million, been immense so far. 7 goals in 4 games, including a brace against Chelsea

And what happened to your experiment? :smirk:

Waaaaaaaaaay too much work. I should have realized earlier, but at first it was a lot of fun to do it. If I ever were to do an experiment again (if I could even get people to be in it after last time ), it would be a straight up player one, just like the first I ran. It's at least a bit manageable.

My Roma game is getting slightly repetitive. I just won the Champions League for the 4th season in a row, and the Serie A for the 6th. Partly because of my youth policy. This season I sold players for £125 million, and bought one player for £16 million. I've just replaced them with players from my youth team. Once you get a hang of it it's very fun, and it's infinitely more rewarding than only buying players. It's quite hit and miss (since I don't use FM Scout or anything like that), but you only need a few hits to save a lot of money.

When I get bored with Roma, which might be a few seasons yet; bringing the youth through to become world class players has made the game fun again, I'll take over United. They have, as always in FM, fell apart. Finished 11th last season.

The pick of the bunch. Bought him for £3.3 million 3-4 years ago. He's the one who really convinced me I could actually make the youth thing work (which I hadn't really put a lot of stock into for most of the game). I didn't even find him with my scouts (though they have found a few of the talents), I think I just took a look at some of the National u20 teams. This guy stood out in the Norway team, to put it lightly.

Any stock in converting this guy to a winger? He's been quite a good Right Back (has 4 and a half stars from everyone on my staff) but he's very vulnerable in the air (short, jumping stat of 2) and its cost me more than once this season. I don't want to let him go though - he's the first regen I signed that was any good!

Do they say they want to replace you, or are you being replaced? Because I think the usual thing is that they say they want to replace you, and then decide on giving you a chance to show what you're good for.

As for the player.. I wouldn't say he'd do a brilliant job as a winger. His tackling and marking just about make him a good full-back, but he wouldn't have those going for him as a winger. He's quick, and he can cross, but he can't dribble, has poor first touch, poor off the ball, etc.

Apparently the ass had fallen out of the people financing Southampton, so I jumped ship as Villa was offering me a better wage and transfer budget and I was getting those worrying "and it seems that Southampton has made a 37% loss this year" inbox messages.

Delfuenso has become a very useful little player, but everyone else is pretty much aging badly or past it.

Keep a hold of Delfouneso for dear life. In my long term game I tried to get him to my Roma, and I was willing to pay a lot of money for him. Perhaps I got "lucky" with how good he was in my game, but he turned into a real beast. Lightning quick and very good stiker stats (finishing, composure, off the ball), unlike most players who have one or the other, at best.

Would absolutely kill for some kind of app that lets you export your database to iPhone so you can mess around with tactics and look at potential targets while you're out and about (without playing any matches obviously).

(I am aware that there is FM10 for the iPhone/Pod now but I've poured so much of myself into my Southampton.... er Villa game that I often find my mind wandering to areas of the team that need improving and potential transfer targets when I'm between classes or very very bored, but then I forget it all by the time I'm playing again).

Have any of you lot bought a player called Lacina Traore?

He's a 6"8 striker who seems to start the game with Cluj, and he's feckin' immense. He's quick, strong, and a good finisher. Not to mention that he wins everything in the air.

I bought him at around 21, and he's been the star of my team for 10 years, with a few Champions Leagues thrown in.

In a my team you can't play if you have 11 in strength, 8 in jumping and 12 in balance :) :D

Oh lovely.. messing around playing my Man Utd save a bit and got to the Champions League Final against Man City (which is a rematch of last years final). I'm at about a week before the final right now, and my starting goalkeeper (Frey) got injured. For some stupid reason, I have no competent backup. I've got a regen who's going to be quite good I think, but he's at best Championship material at this point. This should be fun. Something tells me an 18 year old keeper starting in the Champions League final is a recipe for disaster.

for crying out loud, Villa's finances are also in the shit - they've got 30 million debt so I'm only being given 15% of my transfer earnings back. So I've got 10.7 million + 3 - 4 million from trimming the shit out of the squad. I need a new left back, at least two central midfielders, and someone for the left flank.

And I fecking love it.

Aye he's a great buy at the start of the game for any team and you can pick him up for around 900k - £1.2 million depending on who you are! It's between him and Lukaku as the best young strikers on the game (IMO)!

i think i did something stupid.

Im Nott Forest, playing 4-2-3-1 and for these three attacking mids spots i have :

Vela
Rakitic
Wilshere
Ljajic
Vukcevic
Tansee

I agree with Diouf 650m loan though, definitely worth it!

Can anyone give me any tips on using editor on a mac? Playing on a mac is bad enough anyway, what with the crashing and that, but editor just isn't working. I dunno, maybe I'm just doing something wrong but I load database, add a player, save database and no sign. Any ideas?
