Gaming Football Manager 2009

5 seasons already??

That's crazy, to be honest. I probably take more time playing a season than most, but I've done one and a half in ~60 hours playtime. If this was FM07 I'd have done 3 by now, maybe more. I have had some "downtime", though, where I've been in the game but have been watching a series or a movie. And I haven't played much the last week.

5 seasons already??

Not all on the same save though, I put it on holiday for 2 seasons on 1 save to test some stuff. So 3 seasons actually played, but I only play with match commentary at the moment so matches are done alot quicker than watching highlights.

I've looked around forums for some facepacks etc and some people have played 10+ seasons, they must be playing it night and day.

I have played 5 seasons without holidays on one save. If I include all saves I must have played about 11 seasons. Currently eyeing the United job but Ferguson is still manager 2013:eek:

I need a backup for Daniel Alves. Anyone recommend me a good right back who wont moan if he doesnt get many games? Currently loaned rafael from United but with Alves out for 2 months, Im not happy with the way he is playing.

Marco Zambelli, the Italian O'Shea. Costs almost nothing and plays for Brescia.

Wow.. that has never happened before in any FM game I can remember. He's always lasted a couple of years, then resigned or got fired. At which point Keane or Redknapp or someone would take over. Stuart Pearce, in one game

Just for fun added a new manager at United to check if I had a chance at the job, they hired Guordiola instead of me though...

Double click the patch file and it should automatically find your game directory (if not then click browse and find it yourself). It should also detect your game version and decide whether or not it needs to be patched.

Player pictures, team kits and badges etc usually come with a readme that tells you where to put the files. For photos, you drag the folders in the zip or rar you downloaded, and place them in My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/players.

Interesting. In a Blue Square Premier pre-match press conference right now, the journalist asked me who I thought would win the 2009 European Footballer of the Year. My options?

Habib Bamogo
Pascal Bérenger
Benjamin Gavanon
Nico Herzig
Michael Lamey
Marx Thorben

I take it Arminia Bielefeld are going to have a good season!? :smirk:

Is Frazier Campbell still a fat bastard like in the demo and FM 2008?

1st season just finished. Finished 6th with QPR after being 1st/2nd all season. However I won the playoffs, beating Cardiff in the final despite their best efforts at cheating (they played 8 minutes if injury time when there was only supposed to be 4!) So now I'm in my prime, transfer window has just opened and I've got 2 or 3 quality players coming on a free plus £11m to spend, my squad needs about £20m of investment just to stand a chance at surviving the prem and my board wants me to easily escape relegation!

The funniest thing though is what's happened to West Ham. They've put ALL their players on the transfer list because they are fecked financially. Parker, Ashton, Faubert, Upson etc all gone for pittance and they got relegated. Should be fun being West Ham!

I suppose when you have the likes of Quashie on your wage list, you are messed up. :-/

Hilarious review from IGN, which highlights why Americans should never review "soccer" games: http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/936/936295p1.html

I know this game has flaws, but:

I couldn’t imagine why anybody would prefer Worldwide Soccer Manager to FIFA 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

Way to miss the point!

Oh my god! Why was he basing it on the likes of FIFA? Does he not know the difference between those games and manager games?

2.0/10 (Terrible) What a joke.

Signed the russian anuykov instead. Good player.

With 2 games to go Ive won la liga and made some good signings for next year. Brilliant game this and the 3d match engine isnt as bad as some people make it out to be.

And massives offered me 12 million for Henry  I want 15mil plus Garrido :wenger:

Exactly, it's what I've been saying all along. It's hardly good looking, but then neither was the 2D engine. It shows what it needs to show. I've no doubt that they'll continue working on it for the next few games either.

I haven't played it for more than 10-15 minutes at a time the last week, though. I think I played it too much right when it came out (i.e all the time). I'll be back

Yeah but the point is does it show you anything that you wouldn't know with just the 2D engine. The answer is no. For me this is the first version that I've had problems running, not because of graffics but because of the stupid interface(courtesy originally of steam even after uninstalling).

The game doesn't work on my system and freezes mid match, i blame the 3D engine which I have no interest in using. I hope they take it out next version(which I will illegally download) or offer a version without it.

You can just switch back to 2-d...

I used to be a HUGE FM fan, I'd litterally sit in class thinking about who to sign etc, but then I just got bored and went of it about 2 years ago. So my question is, is this version going to get me back into it, and is it worth getting?

You can just switch back to 2-d...

I can but even that doesn't work properly as the game will suddenly lose 2d perspective and simpley describe the action evertime I make a change. Not to mention the fact that I cannot even load the game at the moment due to feckin steams even after i've deleted it.

They fecked up big time with this game.

I haven't bought FM since the 07 version (which I still enjoy playing). Is it worth getting this one?

IMO if you're admitting that you're going to be illegally downloading it then your opinion doesn't really matter, does it? Don't get me wrong, I've downloaded plenty of games, but if you do then your complaints are worthless.

I'm playing my Maidenhead game, in March 2010, and I saw United (which of course is underperforming in the league) beat Rangers 2-0 in the CL. Clicked in the game to see the scorers, and there was an unfamiliar name there. Ivan Carlsson. Never heard of him, so I figured he was some youngster given a chance.

Well. Sort of.

Came for free from some random Swedish club in January.

Sell Carrick, sign Carlsson

Still, only 10 Bravery?

I'm playing as FC Ingolstadt 04. Started in German Bundesliga 2. Expected to get relegated came third my first season and got smashed in the first leg of my promotion playoff. I gave my boys the hair dryer at the end of the game and the entire first team lost confidence in me.

That summer I sacked the lot of the feckers and brought in a full team of 17-18 year old regens. I figured I'd have a perfect chance to develop them all over two seasons so I planned to stay in the 2nd division for 2 more seasons.

Won the 2nd division the second season going away and in my first season in the 1st division I am in 4th place, 2 points from 3rd at Christmas. My entire team with the exception of my two central midfielders and keeper have 4 star ratings so I think I must have lucked out with my 5-3-2 tactic. I'm winning games with as much as 75% possession.

I'm also shockingly really enjoying the 3d engine.

Remember that IGN review that gave FM 2.0 score, while the UK review had given it 9.1? Well, it developed a massive shitstorm.. and it worked!

US, December 5, 2008 - We missed the mark -- that's the only way to explain why we've pulled the U.S. review of Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009 off our site.

After seeing the community feedback and having more editors look at the title, we agree with the readers that our original review didn't give Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009 a fair shake. Unfortunately, our critical analysis of WWSM '09 focused more on what the author wanted it to be rather than what the product actually was. We review games at IGN based on their own merits, and agree that it was unreasonable to compare WWSM '09 with action-oriented sports titles like FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer. Because of the unfair comparison, we have deemed the review unacceptable and have removed it from the site.

We extend our sincerest apologies to both SEGA and our readers for the mistake and confusion. Look for an updated and more accurate relation of IGN's view of WWSM '09 sometime in the near future.

Twat, "I couldn’t imagine why anybody would prefer Worldwide Soccer Manager to FIFA 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. " Because they are two completely different genres of game! One is a sports game, the other is a management simulation.

The graphics don't matter, never have. I spent many days watching circles play against each other and still got excited if it scored from 40 yards.

Just a question for the Americans amongst us, do they have American Football sims, or Ice Hockey sims similar to this over there cause i can't think of any other reason how this guy is so far off the mark?
