Football Betting Thread 2017/2018

Ffs Getafe. Need a goal for over 2.5 goals and they missed a penalty. Probably not going to happen now with only 20 minutes remaining

I would never back it but Arsenal at 8/1 seems very big doesn't it? Even without most of their first team rested. They still have the likes of Aubameyang playing and possibly Cech

When you for some ridiculous reason throw in PSG to boost the odda by 10% and they lose to bloody Guingamp. And they are playing terribly with a full side, and the conditions are horrible.

Everton great value IMO to beat Saints. Everton have 7th best home record in the PL, have won the last 2, unbeaten in 4. OK, Saints need the points but even so no way Everton should be big underdogs at 2/1.

Yup, makes no sense to me either. The reason Saints are needing the points is because they aren't very good.

Liverpool to win, draw no bet at 1.95 at bet365.

Same scenario as against City. Roma has to chase, which will be deadly and leave big holes on the counters for Salah, Mane and Firmino to exploit. Its what they do best.

Exactly. The "that won't be an easy game because they're battling relegation" argument is massively overvalued in the odds I think. As you say, they are down there because they are poor.

Considering Saints have 1 win (west brom) in their last 15 PL away games going back to September, Everton/Draw at bigger than 1/2 looks like it will be a solid addition to a few of my weekend bets. Makes our 0-0 at Old Trafford against them look pretty awful!

Indeed it does! I'm going for the home win though. Apart from City and Liverpool they have won their last 4 at home. Think they have won all games apart from top 7 and West Brom in fact so 2/1 is massive.

Surprised by the odds on the CL final. Real are favorites, but only just.

I remember a few years ago when there was a big battle at the bottom on the final day, with all the bottom teams playing teams above them. All the crap teams supposssedly battling for their lives and priced 'accordingly'... they all lost. (I think it was the season we played Hull last game with a bunch of reserves and won). As you say, they are down the bottom for a reason.

4/11. Yeah you're probably right. Can just see a bit of a cruise for Athletico...Its Arsenal!
Definitely on paper, Atletico should win and they probably will. I've just got a feeling it won't be as comfortable as it could be.

Their style of play means they're not going to blow Arsenal away, and one slip up could be so costly.

They got a bit lucky from the brief bit of the game I saw (Atletico) but you're right about their style.

I was just thinking about that last night actually, how the only way to reduce unlucky draws and defeats is by scoring heavily. We need to score more next season I think to really contend.

I've been horribly wrong with my predictions lately, probably because I've been thinking in narratives rather than looking at actual quality. I thought Bayern wasn't gonna get knocked out by Real for the 3rd time in the last 5 years, but they fecking did anyway. I also thought Arsenal would at least win the EL and give Wenger a nice goodbye but that didn't work out either.

Haha, "looking at narratives"? Seems a very fatalistic view. Is there a big football God in the sky controlling it all to write good stories? Could he somehow dictate that this year's CL final is null and void?

It actually worked well for me for a while but this has been a weird CL season.

United high @1.8 considering we can wrap up 2nd place in the league tonight. Depends how motivated and up for it we are against a side battling relegation who have a good home record. Can maybe see it being a draw but @1.8, definitely worth a punt.

Got £40 on them in a double with Bentleigh Greens who won 2-0 before so hopefully it's a straightforward victory.

I'm going all in on Juventus losing at home to Bologna HT (0-1).

Juve to win was the money bet there I'm afraid. They've got one hand on the title.

I worded that sloppily. I went in for Juve to win when they were 0-1 down (twice at 4/6 and 5/6).

It's looking very good at the moment.

I'm waiting on both teams to score in the Sporting v Benfica game for a bet.....

I think frankly I have wasted 80 minutes of my life watching it, seriously both teams could play until Wednesday and wouldn't score :mad:
