Gaming FM2017 Football Legends - Classic Player Draft - S2 Holiday Updates

I did a quick search for players up to 6ft/183cm tall with a jumping reach of 18 or more. 149 hits. I did the same search in the normal FM database and got only 11 hits in which the only player I've heard of is Michail Antonio.
I then searched in the legends database for players above 188/~6ft2 with up to 12 jumping reach and found players like Laurent Blanc, Stefan Effenberg and David Seaman.

Edgar Davids and Pele will essentially beat Laurent Blanc and Stefan Effenberg in the air 10/10 times.

Looks like the creator of that database has misunderstood jumping reach completely.

Height has always been a relevant factor along with jumping and I doubt they suddenly changed that.

Sounds to me like you may be confusing FM mechanics with the actual conversion from PES being screwed up.

I don't think that's right @Macern I remember having Cahill for example who had 19 jump and 20 heading while still being 5 10. He didn't win all headers either.

I don't know about any PES stats, but I know how FM stats work and that describtion I posted is official. And I also know what stats the different legends have

Ibrahimovic, Federico Fazio, Per Mertesacker, Thibaut Courtois, Asmir Begovic have 18 or higher jumping reach. Marco Verratti has 6, Lorenzo Insigne has 3 and Santi Cazorla has 5.

I'm getting confused. Are those FM stats (not classic db but game one)?

3? Don't think I ever saw a 3. Seems they changed the logic behind jump. So anyone who jumps high will actually have great reach regardless of height, while tall chaps who are heavier will typically jump less and therefore lose their aerial duels?

I'm fecked. Completely ignored "jumping" as a factor as Cruyff is ball on deck, just height/physique. Balls.

Those stats are from the normal database.

Let me put it like this:

What decides who wins an aerial duel in FIFA 17 is the players height and their jumping.
What decided who wins an aerial duel in FM is the players jumping reach.

Looks like the creators thought it worked like it does in FIFA.

A 170cm player for example could have a jumping reach between let's say 6 and 11 depending on how good a jumper they are, whereas a 190cm player could be between 16 and 20. That's how it is in FM.

The guy who created the db assumed what I did before, that jump was an attribute unrelated to height. So people like Pele, Seeler and Davids who may have apparently been good jumpers for their heights (leading to high pesstats values) would be on 18s, 19s and 20s in FM, and tall players with average jumps like Pique, Vieira and Blanc would lose headers against them 90% of the time.

Thing is, we probably shouldn't know the rival thing. It's a derby basically so you are saying your players will raise their game against mine.

I am not going through and adjusting 2700 player's jumping - rabbit hole and all that.

I am not sure how much it matters because I personally seen Pele lose headers so the variables at play are still more complex than just "highest jumping = wins every header near his vicinity".

I'd advise everyone not to overthink this type of things and just pick players you will enjoy reading about :)
 
Do we have to do these supporter and club profile stats? Not really sure what value it adds - I've been picking around a manager and his principles, not some fictitious club - and any name changes only confuse matters.

What a stupid way of doing it? Just make jumping ability equivalent to x cm and add that to height of player... the total would determine who usually won a header as it would in real life?

Dunno about that. There's about 5-10 players I've never heard of - and they're dotted from all around Europe. A couple of Austrians but in fairness they had a hell of a team in the 1930s so I take that as more of my ignorance rather than some unique PES poster bias.

Similar issue with the stats for Scottish players. Most of them are token efforts probably because they lacked the posters with the requisite expertise to do it justice. Which is why I abandoned plans to create a core of Scottish legends. None of the nuances and real strengths/weaknesses would come across, so it's better saving that for when you get the opportunity to showcase them properly.
