Congrats all round then. By the way I'd be interested to know the Portugese view on Ronaldos early departure, does anyone think it actually galvanised them somewhat. I'm inclined to think it did, although perhaps that was France subconsciously switching off a tad??
I am glad he went off. He hasn't played well for a while now although the Wales game was better for him but ultimately I would rather have him off and the lads playing like a team, which they did.

I just realised that I dont have a clue who manages Portugal. Could tell you most the mangers in the tournament but not the winner.

I presume that was Evra's last game for France, sad way to end it

The Portugal run reminded me of Real Madrid's champions league win where they seem to just get through but aren't overrun nor dominate themselves, just amble through and neutralize the opponent into a nothing game, like they did with City and Atletico.

Griezmann was looking shit hot before the CL final, as he was in the Euro's but come Portugal and Madrid it's a dud.

Congratulations to Portugal. I can't believe they actually beat France on their own soil. France must be kicking themselves losing to one of the worst Portugal sides in history . But seriously what a shock that was tonight. I thought France would've won comfortably, they probably were the better team and had more of the chances no doubt. Everything seem to go wrong for Portugal; losing Ronaldo early on everything seemed stacked against them but fair play for carrying on, and their defending was fantastic. Pepe was an absolute beast tonight, he was man of the match for me. Mentions to Rui Patricio too, he was superb.

So, Ronaldo did something Messi never done and wins a trophy with his country. I don't think many people would've thought that would happen.

Yeah, Portugal did in some ways remind me of Real Madrid. They got their tactics spot on and worked for each other all tournament.

Gotta feel for Greizmann, losing the champions league final and now the Euro final.

That did temper my joy for Nani winning it. But at least it won't be Martial's last chance; they should be quite good in the coming years.

Just makes you think how far this France side can go. Will they be one of the favourites come 2018? If they can play like they have been the past couple of weeks then they surely will be.

Well, Spain is sort of rebuilding. Germany has been winning despite their manager and not because of him, and peculiarly, lack a top tier striker. Argentina is almost as dysfunctional as their government. And Brazil is just being Brazil. So, yeah...

This is a sad indictment on the French national team and on Deschamps, in particular. Like 2006, they should have won but didn't because of poor tactics (yes, yes I remember the head butt).

Having Gignac and Giroud be your main strikers, and not bringing Ben Arfa or Benzema to the tournament was suicide. Hopefully, this spells the end of this manager, and someone like Zidane can come in and clean this mess.

I didn't watch the match. May I know, was Pogba scolding/reprimanding the defender (after conceding the goal)? (at 1:04)

It's nice to see that SAF isn't like some of the posters on here ;) I'm dead pleased for them, especially after Ronaldo's injury. I hope it isn't too serious.

Feel a bit sorry for the french fans today, but despite Portugal being on the defense for the whole match, i don't really think France deserved to win yesterday. If you look at the whole tournament, they've been the better side, but yesterday they barely created anything expect a couple of chances for Greizman and Portugal had a couple of good chances of their own

Griezmann had a couple of headers (one completely free), Sissoko made two good long range shots, Gignac hit the post. So you cannot say only a couple of chances were created.

Happy for Ronaldo and Nani. Nani has had a very good tournament and wrongly written off by some after those two injury hit seasons. Sad for Patrice who gave all he could by was let down by a boring manager. That said well done Portugal!

Huge achievement for Santos. Where the Golden Generation missed, he hit it.
