Fifth Ashes Test, Sydney

My prediction for tomorrow.
Play delayed until after lunch.
England to then be bowled out for 240.
Aussie to get 672 runs by tea.

The sad thing is that nobody has been brave enough to be sure that you are joking.

We're 239 and I don't rule out being bowled all out for 240 still! Got my pictures back now, just in time to see a beauty from Lee beat Flintoff all ends up but miss the bat.

We just made 240. Danger time...

Little ******gwood could do there really, so, Read steps into the breach.

He did well at Melbourne i thought, a sensible and gutsy enough performance but just ran out of partners in the end. A similar display by him and Flintoff keeps his head, a bit of luck, we can still make something out of this.

feck OFF Australia, ahhh I knew I should have come into this with the same depressive attitude as I did yesterday. This has the makings of a grim grim day. Hat trick ball next over Lee comes on.

The England players should be ashamed of themselves. They have been absolute shite and should be boo'ed of the plane when they arrive home.

fecking diabolical.

They wont be though, there will be an airport full of knobs cheering them home like fecking hero's

It's become quite obvious to me that Panasar can actually bat a bit. Look at the way he manages to keep the high bouncing ball which he's forced to play down. and he's got a little range of scoring shots too. I'd have him as my number 7, I'm not sure Mahmood is as nifty with the bat.

I think there's a resemblence. Or maybe it just feels like that...

All out 291, can't believe I was talking about 400 earlier? Needs a cracking bowling performance and oh look, our best bowler of the series is out injured...

Sounded silly earlier, but considering after that comment Colli ngwood went next over and batsmen 7 to 11 contributed 2 runs between them, actually wasn't far off in the end. Thank goodness Flintoff finally turned up with a bat.

Anyway, back to abject pessimism. This truely is how it feels to be City...

Australia will score 600 by close of tommorow and then have 2 days to complete the whitewash.

Probably :)

The usual gift of a reletively easy and quick 30 odd runs served up to the Aussie openers again. Trying to bounce them out. HINT - it hasn't worked all sodding series, why would it start working now?? Frustration is mounting, and I'm fearing a 500 reply here...

Why does that not fill me with hope for England avoiding the whitewash?

They'll get closer to 400 and then bowl England out for 150. That's been the pattern so far.

I'd offer them 350 all out now, I fear their lower order doesn't just bend over and take it like ours does, and might push the 400 mark we should have made. Think I've decided I'm praying for rain now, I just can't see our bowlers taking 20 wickets yet again.

As ever first session vital. No doubt aussies will bat through unscathed

Should be said it is the Lancashire pace attack Australia are facing in Mahmood, Flintoff (for all he plays for Lancs these days) and Anderson. So while England will mourn losing the ashes, Lancs can at least celebrate if they bowl well and we take the final test!

and the yorkie is nowhere to be seen :D

come on the lanky lads :)

Warne scores 10 off his first 2 balls. I doubt he will last long slashing away like that.

Pieterson missed a difficult catch by some way. England need one of those to go their way.

Out for what?

They are showing the replays and there isn't a mark on the infrared camera which strongly suggests that the umpire got it dead right.

They are looping the pictures and the only hotspot is on the glove. Not out.

Warne and Gilchrist are going mad. 14 off the last over.

A partnership of 40 from 24 ball and Panesar has been quite tight.

Your watching better technology than we are in England, Sky has no such system, although Hayden in commentary said he thought it was out.

This is all looking rather horrific again. What really irritates is that you know the tail here will put on at least another 60 runs or so, and by the time England get to that total in their second innings we'll be 2 wickets down. It's so depressingly predictable.

Some of the Aussie commentators thought it was out because of the noise on the "snikometer" but multiple replays on the infrared image and slow motion replays show quite clearly that the only slight contact was with the gloves.

The coverage is very good here. And on free to air even in Sydney since it is a sell out. :)
