I’ve been averaging more than 1000 games each year over the last couple of FIFAs and I’ve played since FIFA 2002 just to put it in perspective. He beat me 3-2. His first goal was directly from a corner. I was trying to jump with my player that was perfectly positioned in front of him, but for some reason the game auto switched to another player just before the ball hit his player so he could head the ball straight into the goal with little pressure. Pathetic.

I’m just lost for words. I was absolutely baffled when he scored that, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He had a script-advantage throughout the game which made everything difficult for me, but I hadn’t experienced scripting to that extent before.

Then this fecking happened

That is the worst penalty I’ve ever witnessed in FIFA. I didn’t even press circle to tackle!!! I just ran, that’s literally all I did. As you can see, the bar that appeared above my player started loading after the player fell to the ground because I was making a pass. If I had made a challenge before that it would’ve started powering up a tackle before he fell to the ground. I literally just ran, he fell, got a penalty. Then he scored 3-2 and won the game.

I rarely get upset or mad about FIFA losses even when I lose because of scripting, but this is genuinely hands down the worst I’ve seen and/or experienced by a distance. It’s just sad how EA are marketing their game as E-Sports ready and are trying to act like they care about the players, but the reality is that all they care about is money and it has gotten to the extreme point that they want to reduce the skill gap so far, in order to reward new players, that it’s unplayable for someone who takes the game seriously and wants to play competitively and potentially become a pro player. I hope to god that the scripting is reduced in the official tournaments. Imagine playing a final for £25k and stuff like that happens. You have essentially no control of the final outcome. When he can beat me 3-2 that just proves everyone can beat everyone.

I’m a student at a business school and we’ve had a lot about company ethics and CSR etc. It’s fascinating to observe how incredibly unethical EA are. Now I’m not just talking about them making an extremely unfair platform for competitive players, but the way their bottom line of making as much money as possible is so deeply rooted into the game. New pointless promos every other week just to sell more fifa points. Heavy marketing directed towards even children to manipulate them into what is literally disguised gambling. That’s what it is. Flashy card designs is obviously not something that would persuade a 30 year old into buying packs. If I had the power I would honestly sentence whoever is behind this to 10 years in prison. feck this game. /rant

There was one where someone over hit a cross back post and it missed everyone. My player and his player jumped for it like normal and for some reason the game decided my player had fouled him when I didn’t even press any button as I knew the cross was long.

Then there’s ones where freekicks have been given as pens. There’s a few I seen where they actually foul you and somehow end up getting the penalty.

The automation in the game needs to stop. It’s just weird. There’s times I seen in clubs where a cross has come in and I haven’t even pressed the button to shoot and the games done it for me.

Even seasons and drafts which don’t run the dedicated servers you’d get bullshit. They can fix the servers. But the game still is a load of shit. No idea why they don’t do early betas rather than shitty late ones in August which leaves them too late to change a lot because they shipping in a month. Forget the game changers and whatever. Start the beta in May or June. Then get the general feedback from everyone and then come September just stick to that version of the game they release. Rather than patching it every month. As currently everyone has just paid for a beta which won’t even be fixed.

I had a nice stint this summer where I gave no fecks about FIFA and just played other games and was happier for it. Last week I finally managed Gold 1 for the first time on FIFA 19, but this week I can’t win for shit.

It’s making me miserable and for some reason I won’t stop playing. I hate FIFA and I hate myself.

Agree with almost all of this except for the not patching it every month. Without the patches the game becomes a fecking drag of people abusing whatever meta is current. Imagine if they hadn't patched the timed finesse shots, the game would be an absolute joke until September.

I'd fecking kill for a balanced, non scripted version of FIFA. When you play with your mates the game is so much more responsive and you can usually establish who is better as there aren't random penalties, hitting the crossbar 7 times etc. Online you can literally feel the game shift during a match, I understand the thinking behind the momentum, but when it's making my players fall over as he goes to control a ball it's gone a slight step too far I think :wenger:

Timed shooting could have been avoided if they released the beta in May or June. Told us to test this new feature out that we going to release. Because we all know all these new stuff EA release tend to be overpowered. Protect the ball and driven passes all marketed as new features over the years and all overpowered.

Having one small beta with select people for a week isn’t enough. You need at least 2 or 3weeks testing to figure out what’s overpowered.

Patching it every month is ducking annoying. They been doing it since 16 or 17 and it’s not really done any benefits. All they do is tone one thing down and something else becomes overpowered. They don’t know how to make a balanced game.

Fifa 18 was great at start. Then they patched it and turned it into Fifa 17 2.0.

I rather early beta with lots of players rather than asking game changers in your studios because that’s ducking pointless. They’d obviously firstly kiss your ass. Secondly playing offline is a lot different to online.

Thanks for those tips on fixing it, unfortunately I have tried all that and annoyingly I still get the dreaded button lag. Literally have tried everything apart from changing TV or playing on a monitor so that might be my last bet.

I think it’s the worst penalty I’ve ever seen at least. Also, there are countless things they could do to improve the game and you’ve mentioned some of them but do they care? Nah, as long as it doesn’t give them higher revenue then they don’t give a damn. They obviously know that scripting makes the game worse for the better half of the players, and that spamming the market with new cards every week doesn’t make it more fun to play, but it brings them more money. Career mode is from what I’ve heard terrible, and they didn’t make a single change to pro clubs this game! They just don’t care and there’s nothing we can do about it.

It has to be your TV then. You sure it’s on game mode? Could be that it only adjusts the colors.

There shouldn't be any scripting, it should be decided on who the better player is, but of course there's people who are dreadful at the game so complain to EA and that's why they've put it in the game.

Your rant was spot on, they do target kids with packs etc and it is gambling for kids, simply because it's addictive and they want the latest shiny cards. I think I read Belgium have just made it so you can't buy Fifa points on a Belgian account anymore, I hope more follow suit soon.

Yeah, they’ve recently banned FIFA points Belgium. Disguised gambling like that is new and seems to be unregulated in every other country. Let’s just hope other countries will do the same. It would force EA to generate profits by making the game as good as possible.
 
Let’s face it if you were getting thrashed, would you wanna open or invest in packs? Nope. EA need to make it a lottery for all these kiddies. But they just thinking short term.

Long term they should be competing competitive wise with the other big games. But how can you call this game competitive when the skill gap is reducing every year. COD even at its worst a few years ago still required skill.

I do imagine the developers at EA are probably embarrassed at what they serve up every year. But management all they care about is pack amounts and how can they get people to open more packs. Making the game easier helps.

The competitive scene is a joke. I heard the tournament tomorrow will have the pre patch gameplay. Then you have the pay to win scenario. Yes you still need to beat the players with the team, but it’s a huge advantage. I’m not dismissing any bodies skill if you got a God squad with icons and everything. But imagine if Counter strike or COD let you spend thousands to get better guns. That’s what you need to do in Fifa. Competitive for me is when everybody is equal and everybody has access to the same shit. But that would never happen.

Fifa in terms of twitch is stagnating and other games are taking over. Yeah, Castro is still popular but he’s one of the few.

Since the move to the frostbite engine the game hasn’t been right. They need a new engine and I imagine they saving that for 2020 when new consoles are out. I hope I’m wrong, but I feel Fifa 20 is going to be the same shit.
 
Hoping when Rashford wins POTM his sbc isnt too excessive. Have like 200k now so ill probably do the WL next weekend to get to 300k, then can probably get enough to get him with players in my club. As long as its under 350k ill do it I think. Could probably just save for another icon but never did a POTM and love Rashfords futmas card, so feck it.
 
Wow. I was on 12 wins with 10 games to go, lost 8 on the bounce then won my last 2 to finish Gold 3. In the last game I was 2-1 down and Aguero scored basically the same goal in the 82nd and 89th minute :drool:

Goal 1 happens constantly in this game, it's a fecking joke, goal 2 could be fixed with a patch that's been needed since the game started.

Yeah I agree actually, especially FIFA 18, it was a dream to play at first, everyone complained about how hard it was and bang, back a year we go. Think I played that version for about 2 months.

Spent my night in work doing the Ligue 1 SBC, can bring FB Tevez, FB Ibra and SBC Depay off the bench now :lol::lol::lol:
 
What's the general consensus here on Hidetoshi Nakata? I'm looking at him instead of perhaps 87 Gomez, due to the improved shooting & the benefit of having an icon when it comes to team building. He looks pretty good to my untrained eye, but...
 
I know a few of you have said that you gave up on Keane but, trust me, he's fixed! This week he's been my best player by far, suddenly seems faster and more reactive so he's winning so many balls in midfield, he's insane.

If you still have him knocking about on your bench or reserves then give him a try. He's now exactly what you hoped he'd be.

He’s been awful for me :( 7 goals in 39 games. I’m crap though so that might not be fair! I’ve been changing my formation around shit loads and not settling with a team so that hasn’t helped either. He has scored a few worldies mine and his passing is nice.

Yeah. Sometimes I’m playing 4-2-2-2 and 4-2-3-1 though so he might as well be playing right wing which is no good. I’ve got too many CAMs atm so it’s nightmare trying to fit them all in!

Whatya think of Gattuso? I'm looking at the more affordable CM's for my 5-2-1-2 because of the extra flexibility that's afforded by having an icon in one of the midfield 2 seems to be great. That Juan Jesus swap card means I can line up with an Icon CM and either a Brazilian or a Serie A player, so there's quite a lot of flex there with something like this: https://www.futbin.com/19/squad/4833264

Last weekend I was 22-1. Now I’m 13-5 :lol: the inconsistency is unreal. The game has absolutely ruined it for me this weekend though. I’d put most of the blame on the scripting, but also the fact that when I face heavy scripting I just lose the flow and start making a lot of errors.

What I have noticed is the ridiculous number of deflections now which may well have always been there but with everyone finesse-ing it wasnt noticed. Now people are having to shoot differently the rng element is a lot more noticeable.

Combine that with players using 3 forwards stay forward, and everyone else dropped back to make it hard to break down their defence and you have a recipe for frustration
