Gaming FIFA 17

Passing is so much more difficult and satisfying, especially those long crosses to switch the wing. I like that you're able to control the pace of the game, the game itself is much slower but you can still play at high intensity, fast football, but you're also able to switch and slow down while playing patiently in midfield. I'll be up to division 8 soon, got 3-1-3 record in 9 but my last two losses were very tight games where I feel I should have got something.

United, Atletico and Leicester have been brilliant, all get paired against different teams from what I see. United will be playing the top tier clubs (Real, Barcelona, Bayern, City), Atletico will be paired with the tier below (Juventus, Napoli, Dortmund, Arsenal), Leicester will be somewhere in-between what Atletico will be playing and the tier where the likes of Leverkusen, Roma and Valencia land. I feel Everton will also be a fun team, maybe Sevilla too.

How is passing difficult? You can tiki taka all day long, don't even need great players for it.
That ridiculous press one button to shield the ball like Lewandoski is doing it's job too and of course they had to bring back 180 noscope passes too..

I bought the game to mainly play vs the cpu.

After spending ~10 hours with it I can safely say never have I had a worse time playing a football game. It's one of the worst FIFAs I've ever seen, worse than 2002-2007 ones. The cpu teams play exactly the same way, every player turns two or three times before passing, everything feels scripted beyond belief.

This is worse than FIfa 9, what???? what? has EA been doing the last 10 years?
If there was a way to refund this shit I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I was quickly becoming bored by playing against the AI, too; my main problem is that they never give the ball away. Perfect passing for so long, and half the game feels like waiting for them to take a poor shot or something. It's just not fun. I'm being patient and taking away their passing lanes, etc. but it still feels like dull work. I'll give it some more time, though.

Their focus has largely been on online because that's what people buy it for mostly, single players is an afterthought much like in Battlefield or COD.

It's very easy to lose the ball if you're playing online, ground passing might still be quite easy but diagonal balls, short crosses and over the top through balls do not have the same accuracy they used to have.

To be fair, it is much, much more fun to play against other people than to play alone. So I understand why they are doing it this way. That doesn't mean they should totally ignore the single-player AI, though.

Yep. I'd like to be able to play full league with United, not only play against Bayerns and Barcelonas for instance, but would rather not do this against AI. Good solution would be implementing a system where you can be paired against lower rated teams but the prize varies - for instance in seasons, if you select Hull or Sunderland and agree to look for a 5-star team, if you win it's 4 points instead of 3 for you. Likewise, if you are Man Utd and want to play someone lower rated, you get 2 points instead of 3 if you beat them. Far fetched system and it probably wouldn't work but I'd just like to have a good match-up variety. Also, in online it would actually be realistic because you would indeed have significant advantage over someone playing a poor team.

agreed - every team plays like Barcelona. So frustrating trying to get the ball back.

I'm playing online exclusively and I have no problem maintaining 90% passing (if I stay focused), without actually trying to push it. You can play your way through any kind of pressing with ease thanks to the ez a f shielding button.

Edit the sliders on settings in game, I've changed sprint speed and acceleration to 47, shot power and pass speed to 46 and I've changed AI pass accuracy to 45 whilst keeping mine at 50. If you play on the hardest difficultly I think it makes it more enjoyable.

There are usually sliders each year at operationsports which make the game a whole lot better.

Am I the only one who's finding this fun and much improved vs the AI? Great end to end action and plenty of goals. Unlike the boring shite last year where the opposition pass the ball around pointlessly.

Honestly, if people are mostly looking to play against the computer they should get that other football game. FIFA is miles behind in that respect.

Exact opposite for me. The AI cannot (will not) score anything. They sit every player behind the ball and bore me to death. It's just 0-0 match after match

What difficulty? I'm on world class. Also I find if you get the first goal against inferior opposition they really come at you.

Yeah I'm not sure I like it this year my players are all like Rooney in real life they can't get the ball under control and struggled to do basic things I want them to I sent a player on a 1-2 and he stopped running randomly.

It was world class, thought maybe I'd try pro and see if it's any different. It's not. It's almost exactly the same, just robotic, emotionless and bland. They AI has no intelligence or creative, never makes a mistake, never panics, just sits players behind the ball and refuses to attack

Hmmm I'm not having the same experience. Maybe it depends how you play/approach games. I read somewhere that the AI is adaptive this year to your playing style.

Started playing fut, got 4 loses straight away. Then, I discovered a magnificent striker, Peter Crouch. Anyway, I got 3 wins after all, big Pete scoring 7 goals :D

The shooting does feel brilliant this time. The ball feels like it could go anywhere and makes for great unpredictable goals.

Just completed The Journey and lost out on the title on goal difference to Tottenham and then lost to them again a few days later in the FA Cup to a 90th minute OG.

Probably the angriest I've been in years from a fecking computer game. Bloody gutted fml.

I caved and got it despite not liking the demo and bottling getting used to a new footy game (pes). Have to say I am enjoying online seasons. Struggled my first few games but got a bit more used to it and won 3 out of my last 4. Zlatan has been a shit for me but Martial and Miki have been great.

To be honest that's like buying Call of Duty to play the campaign.

Actually that is exactly what they did in NBA 2K16. Because its only 30 teams they just divided teams into 3 tiers, and using a team from 3rd tier vs. 1st tier gives you 3 wins, and 2nd tier vs. 1st gives you 2 wins. So there is absolutely an incentive to find a lower-rated team that you play well with and challenge the big boys. I think an application of something in that spirit would be great in FIFA. Although FUT provides you some more variety of the opponents than Online Seasons.

Yeah but NBA 2K is pure perfection.

Getting to start directly in div 7 is great and all, but it does annoy me that I don't get to thrash div 10 chumps :(

I'm kinda liking The Journey, but it doesn't matter which conversation choice you pick, Alex Hunter is a bit of prick.

Also, I wanna to play as solely him, but don't get enough chances if I do.

I suck

In 5 games I haven't even let the other team have a shot.. but despite having about 18 per game myself I can't score.

Five 0-0's

Also thinking this Journey would be more entertaining if I'd chosen United despite the warning of not getting as many games.
Dunno if I can be arsed with the 10 hours of cut scenes to get to the first game of the season again though.

Worst FIFA I've played. Opinion may change the more I play it but so far it's awful. PES is the superior football game this year but it's online is stuck in the stone age compared to FIFA's which is a downer.

Why every year is the offline/career mode gameplay so good yet in online it's terrible and a completely different game? You can score goals in your career that just aren't possible online. Likewise with saves, passes etc.

That's what i said earlier I presume it's happened to you with the amount of shots you've had but the keepers are stupidly overpowered this year they save far too many shots from inside the area they shouldn't be saving

Fifa arrived yesterday. Been playing all afternoon today. The players really seem to tire a lot in this Fifa and you notice many are really slow and cumbersome in the second half much more so than in previous games. I also notice the quick interchanging of passing is the easiest way to create chances, no longer is it so easy to just bomb it down the wing and cross. This suits playing with teams like Barca and City who have quick agile players. I try and play with United mainly but have been struggling a little and find I do much better playing as Barca.
