Alright cnuttos, I played a good few games of FIFA '09 last night and thought it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered from playing the demo last year. It still wasn't quite good enough for me to be fully decided about which side of the FIFA/Pro Evo divide to hang my hat this autumn. There were a few flaws which basically made it too annoying for me to bother buying and I need to know if they're sorted in the final version of FIFA 10 (I've decided not to read too much into the demo version of either game)
So...
Shooting - is it still the case that the power bar is fairly meaningless and you only have two options; a tap on the shot button leading to an absolutely perfect rocket of a shot, or holding the button down for longer than a fraction of a second causing it to balloon into row Z? Don't give me any finesse shot bollox, I only want to press one button to shoot but I want a bit of variability depending how long I hold down that button.
The power on shots has been addressed and is miles better now, i can't fecking score like but i think that's just me being shit at the minute. I'd still prefer if the ball felt heavier but it is much better than in 09.
Player likeness - I was playing on a massive projector screen and still struggled to work out who the feck was who. For some strange reason, Rooney seemed to have black hair and was pretty much indistinguishable from Ryan Giggs on the wide camera option. This was understandably frustrating.
Graphics are very similar to 09, they haven't been improved at all i don't think. Just tarted up a little.
Headed goals - can you ever score any? I must have played against my mate for about two hours and we didn't score a single headed goal. Bicycle kicks, volleys, long-range screamers, short-range tap-ins. We scored the lot. But could we head in a cross? Could we feck.
Crosses and headed goals are now an absolutely huge feature of 10. I never used to cross in 09, there was no point but with a complete revamp to the crossing mechanics it's much more realistic.
I demand answers...
There you go
