Gaming Fifa 10

you literally destroyed me

god knows what was up with my keeper though

you had 10 shots and scored 6 I had 5 and scored 1

Lol...nah, I was United, and you were Atletico, and I guess that was the difference..:)

Berbatov is excellent in this game though.

But what a game this is, not sure what all the moaning everyone is doing about this game...
Such an improvement on 09..Keepers could be better admittedly, otherwise awesome game...thankfully not lost a single game online yet...just hope my brother doesn't spoil that record.

fecking SHIT feckING GAME. I win the Premier League with Blackburn on Legendary in my MM and obviously automatically qualify for the CL. The money the fecking stupid, shit, horribly made pile of utter fecking wank game gives me to spend on improving my fecking squad? £4.7m. That's my whole budget for the new season. fecking disgusting. Cannot understand anyone who defends this utter tripe.

Just to add to a bit of cnuting realism: I won the Premier League. My manager reputation? Half a fecking star.

Yet you continue to play it.

I don't believe it. I genuinely don't believe it. We both finished the first half of our first game with 5 shots, 2 on target. And you were 3-0 up. And in the second game, you scored on every chance, every 1-on-1. Most of them went straight under the keeper as well!

I... that is... I mean... WHAT?!

Great games, though. Too great. Crazy. I... err..

Lol...Nemmic?! from Norway are you?
I think my brother jsut played you? He was Chelsea and you were United, and I think he won 2-1 thanks to a Ballack headed winner?

Just as in the last couple of hours? That can't have been me, though the scenario doesn't sound impossible from other games today.

And yeah, I'm from Norway.

He likes to moan. MM does have its issues, though the only one I've encountered that made me stop wanting to continue is the phantom transfer issue. Cant wait for the patch to fix that because its a party pooper alright. And, well, even though I lost 3 of my best players I still played on for 3 seasons. So it must be doing something right.

I found the whole manger mode irritating. I didnt play long enough to suffer teh phantom transfer but what i found annoying was that despite something like 12 consecutive wins i never had a player that had a green arrow (i presume that means in form) and because i lost 4 of my friendlies my board were still warning me about getting the sack after every game, despite being well clear at the top.

I too am looking forward to the patch, i'll probably give it another go then but if Dom is already winning the league on legendary with Blackburn i don't know if i'll bother.

I hate playing against idiots who manage their teams so that they have a team full of world class players.. I just played against someone who had Torres, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Villa, Ferdinand, Vidic,... What's the fecking point? :wenger:

If it's an unranked match, they can do what they like.

I love playing against idiots like those and beating them!
It adds to the pleasure of pissing over them!!
Especially if the side you choose is someone like Wolves/Reading

Reading were my team of choice in 09, Wolves are my team in 10 :)

Kightly on one side and Jarvis on the other with Doyle and Ebanks-Blake up top is a good combo plus that really tall striker on the bench if needs must.

I must admit though, i haven't taken on one of the really big teams with Wolves like i used to do regularly with Reading. Once i learn how to finish i'll consider it because at the moment i need between 5-7 clear one on one opportunities to score. And that's not an exaggeration by the way.

Alright cnuttos, I played a good few games of FIFA '09 last night and thought it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered from playing the demo last year. It still wasn't quite good enough for me to be fully decided about which side of the FIFA/Pro Evo divide to hang my hat this autumn. There were a few flaws which basically made it too annoying for me to bother buying and I need to know if they're sorted in the final version of FIFA 10 (I've decided not to read too much into the demo version of either game)

So...

Shooting - is it still the case that the power bar is fairly meaningless and you only have two options; a tap on the shot button leading to an absolutely perfect rocket of a shot, or holding the button down for longer than a fraction of a second causing it to balloon into row Z? Don't give me any finesse shot bollox, I only want to press one button to shoot but I want a bit of variability depending how long I hold down that button.

Player likeness - I was playing on a massive projector screen and still struggled to work out who the feck was who. For some strange reason, Rooney seemed to have black hair and was pretty much indistinguishable from Ryan Giggs on the wide camera option. This was understandably frustrating.

Headed goals - can you ever score any? I must have played against my mate for about two hours and we didn't score a single headed goal. Bicycle kicks, volleys, long-range screamers, short-range tap-ins. We scored the lot. But could we head in a cross? Could we feck.

LOL..Now you're just copying me! Reading were my team in 09 too.. With Doyle and Lita upfront... And now I'm considering making Wolves my 'smaller team' for 10..
Played with Wolves yesterday, and like Ebanks Blake and Doyle upfront..

I just got the game yesterday, so unfortunately I myself haven't been able to play against the big sides with Wolves/Reading yet. Liked playing with Wolves, decent side.

And agreed. 1 on 1s are slightly tougher to score as the finesse shots don't generate as much power as they used to in 09.
09's 1 on 1 finishing used to be mostly about aiming for the far post with the finesse shot.

I think the analog direction key is much more sensitive in terms of choosing which direction to shoot, thus leading to shots going off target a lot of the time. But I think that's something that we'll get used to with time.
I genuinely have no complaints about this game at all after playing a good while yesterday. I never play Manager mode, or career mode or what have you..and don't bother with BAP much unless it's FIFA Clubs online, so can't be bothered with EA's errors in those departments..
but gameplay wise, no issues whatsoever and I love it. Maybe keepers can be improved slightly in their decision making, but that's about the only complaint I have, if any as I've seen like only 1 GK error in a whole day's play where he flapped at a cross, which taking into account law of averages seems realistic if anything!

Loving the game..

The power on shots has been addressed and is miles better now, i can't fecking score like but i think that's just me being shit at the minute. I'd still prefer if the ball felt heavier but it is much better than in 09.

Graphics are very similar to 09, they haven't been improved at all i don't think. Just tarted up a little.

Crosses and headed goals are now an absolutely huge feature of 10. I never used to cross in 09, there was no point but with a complete revamp to the crossing mechanics it's much more realistic.

That's a first..in 09?! Maybe that's your screen tbh!
But telling Giggs and Rooney apart was...was QUITE easy!
Is this in the 360 or PS3?

and I scored a LOT of headers in 09! Especially with the likes of less technical and more physical sides where long balls into the box was the best option, thus Kevin Doyle, Noel Hunt etc for Reading scored a lot of headers for me, and when I played the Germany, Klose scored a few for me. So did Emre for me when I was Turkey from corners. Brother always scored with Drogba, Essien and Ballack against me with Chelsea?

Shooting's improved definitely with the ball feeling heavier in 10.. However shooting it on target, ie your direction and not height has become slightly more difficult......But shot power definitely matters!

Shooting is now more dependant on the situation and the power you put on the shot. It won't balloon over as easy, but still does if you hold it down too long. If you are being pressured you will also occasionally shoot a dribbler along the floor that is rather pathetic, but more realistic as you wouldn't be able to get the power in those situations.

Player likeness - I was playing on a massive projector screen and still struggled to work out who the feck was who. For some strange reason, Rooney seemed to have black hair and was pretty much indistinguishable from Ryan Giggs on the wide camera option. This was understandably frustrating.

This has never been Fifa's great strength in comparison to the photo likenesses of PES. This year they look ok, a little cartoony but not bad. Giggs though seems to have developed a hell of a tan though.

Headed goals - can you ever score any? I must have played against my mate for about two hours and we didn't score a single headed goal. Bicycle kicks, volleys, long-range screamers, short-range tap-ins. We scored the lot. But could we head in a cross? Could we feck.

Yes you can, but they are more difficult/realistic. It's all about positioning and timing. If you are under a lot of pressure then they are nigh on impossible. I've started to score more from corners after some practise, but the aiming of headers is more precise.

There you go, my take on it anyway.

When i first got it i certainly dint give it a glowing review like that however now i've persisted i think it was down to me playing 09 that often the old habits were hard to shake off. Now that i've got the hang of it i'm much better and when it comes to MP there's only a couple of really bad irritations:

1) The fact i can't score. But like i said, that's me being shit at shooting atm.

2) Player response times. This infuriates me. Sometimes players just do not react/respond to button presses. I rage when this happens :)

3) The computer selecting random, and completely irrelevant players automatically. I tried to turn the auto switch off but that's even worse!

4) The AI can be retarded. Players not making anywhere near the right kind of run, the goalkeepers making stupid errors and defenders randomly running in the wrong direction.

All in all though i do really like it. I will never get a football game i can't find some faults with so it will never be perfect.

hehe fair enough, but I thought the response times have slightly improved on 09..
I can't score as much as I used to though myself, so I'm with you there..

As for player selection, that's ALWAYS been an issue, but luckily now I'm so used to hitting the L1 button consistently when I'm defending, hardly notice it at all nowadays...Plus using the Right analog stick helps in choosing the player you want to control....

Without wanting to boast, I think it's my style of play that's let me be a 'better defender' than others on FIFA. At least I'd like to think so, but I think everyone employs the tactic I employ.
I never use the player I'm controlling to actually be the player going after the player with the ball ;)..I'm sure many on here do this too.
Basically you use the player you're controlling to mark someone else who'll be the obvious receiver of the pass, and you use the 'extra man pressure' button to go after the player with the ball and let him do what he wants to!

That way you don't have to rely on the AI's man marking or positioning as much and its all in your hands when defending!

On the likeness thing, it's not the facial close-ups that matter. I couldn't really give a feck about that, it's getting their build/physique right and the way certain players move, on and off the ball. They were all ridiculously similar in '09 (they even look the exact same height FFS) It's really important too because you often need to know instantly who is on the ball in order to decide what to do next.

I was playing on an awesome set-up too. My mate had a whole room set-up as a home cinema with an HD projector onto a screen that was about 10 foot wide. If I was struggling to tell certain players apart on that I'll be fecked on my 32" tv at home!

Has this improved at all? If not, it would be a deal-breaker for me.

Good news on the shooting/heading front by the sounds of things.

It's never been something i've noticed to be honest Pogue, i have never noticed not being able to tell who is who so i guess i don't share your problem.

If you need to know who is who before you decide what to do next how do you manage in the Master League on PES or when you pick some random team with players you've never heard of?

Edit: Also, i play with the camera zoomed out as much as possible so i can see as much of the pitch as possible and i don't struggle with telling who's who.

Can't be arsed with that really. I only ever play two-player games against mates and we usually pick fairly well-known teams.

I've never struggled to tell players apart on Pro Evo but it's definitely a problem for me on FIFA 09. I'd really like to hear an opinion from someone who's played both games a lot in recent years.

You'd be surprised about your 32". I've always found that with those massive screens and projectors the image tends to get 'stretched' or blurred. It always seems alot sharper on smaller screens IMO, so wouldn't be surprised if it looks fine on your TV. I've had no issues on my 19" bedroom TV for example.

Interesting. You may well have a point there.

Awesome couple of games them Zain, although it was an absolute travesty of justice you won the first one. How many chances did i want?!?! Having said that though, i was lucky to win the 2nd i thought. That winning goal was very :wenger:

I can't believe how quickly you've picked it up. Sorry to win and bail by the way, i'll be back on in a few hours before the United match hopefully.

LOl..You absolutely destroyed me in both games and quite clearly are the better player.
I didn't deserve to win the first one either, that too you had a man less on the pitch, I had a pen to win it which you saved.. and it still took me a missed pen on your behalf for me to win it...

Loved the 2nd goal cause there were some wonderful goals in there that you wouldn't see in FIFA 09!
You know the typical scrappy goals goal poachers goals by Doyle/Phillips that you'd see so often in games not involving the top 4..Amazing animations those.

i might get back to playing now again, but I just hope next time I see you I'm actually able to play a match. Thing is now I had my internet connected directly to the XBOX, as opposed to connecting it via a router.. When I use my router at times I can't connect to fellow members cause of the port problem, hope I don't get the same with you. I can't play with James Parkin unless my internet's connected to the modem without router involvement.
Anyone know how to fix that problem again? Involving the ports? I know there was a post on here but i can't find it.

 You're very modest Zain. I felt you outplayed me for the majority of the 2nd game.

It's odd you're having connection problems when you hook it up like that though, my XBox has always been connected via my PC and i've never had any problems. It's just a pain that the PC needs to be turned on when i wanna go on Live though.

Had 4 cracking games online against someone earlier, the pick of the bunch being the first.

He was Leeds and I was Forest, he dominated the first half and I did well to get in at halftime 0-0. Kept posession much better in the 2nd, but it stayed 0-0 until the first half of extra time, when (and here's a sentence you won't read very often) a Dele Adebola 30 yard thunderbolt into the top corner. Got another scrappy one with Adebola after that and won 2-0.

We then played as internationals, but none of the top ranked teams (Denmark were great fun to play as).

Was a refreshing change from watching someone get to Real Madrid as soon as possible when it comes to picking teams.

Adebola is an absolute tank on FIFA10, really strong. zain I'll give you a couple of games, maybe later on tonight if you're around.

Just scored a brilliant header from a corner with Berbatov online, very satisfying.

Domzi...you absolutely killed me too..lol 4-1..kinell.
I Couldn't control Van Persie in that 2nd game.....I should have chosen someone else besides Spurs for that 2nd game..

And I had no choice but to play counter-attack in that first game which I won, thus I had 10 men behind the ball with Defoe and Lennon running onto through balls..lol
Course I got really lucky with that goal in the last second..

Good games..I've got LOTS and LOTS of practice to go before I reach Domzi and cw1984's levels!

I've become a bit suspect in shooting as well. Very hot and cold, here are the stats from my last online game.

Man Utd - Barcelona

Shots: 24 - 3
Shots On Target: 13 - 0
Possession: 58% - 42%

Scoreline was 1 - 0 to me.

Lennon was so anonymous the whole game until that solo effort. You know when you can see the goal happening as they run towards you, I knew that was going to happen and was hammering the pressure buttons in desperation  Ledley King is so stupidly good as well, had me raging both games. Good games though, enjoyed them :)
