Fernando Torres to.....?

He may stay this summer, but he won't stay forever, he'll need to see Liverpool moving seriously in the right direction and better ownership with funds available for players, he's already left Ath. Madrid to try and win things, what makes anyone think he won't do the same with Liverpool, as I'm sure he has more affinity towards Ath. Madrid than Liverpool

Paddy Power has suspended betting on Torres joining Chelsea.

David Villa believes this season is Liverpool's "last chance" to keep Fernando Torres and admits he is surprised his Spain team-mate has not joined Chelsea this summer.

Villa, who joined Barcelona from Valencia before the World Cup, expected Torres to move on after Liverpool finished a lowly seventh last season and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

And he believes unless they turn things around in the coming campaign, Roy Hodgson's side will lose their star striker.

"I am actually a little surprised. It looks like Nando is staying," Villa is quoted as saying by the Daily Star Sunday.

"After I spoke with him at the World Cup I thought he would sign for Chelsea.

"I think it must only be that Chelsea did not meet Liverpool's valuation. Because, if they had, I am sure he would have made the move."

He added: "This is Liverpool's last chance to keep him. They have to prove they are capable of challenging on all fronts this season, otherwise he will be gone.

"If Liverpool fail to win anything I am sure he will be at Chelsea next summer."

Why the feck is Villa asked about this subject?
Has every Barca player now become a transfer specialist all of a sudden? And of course he has to put in his 2 cents as well this cnut.

The longer he waits, the older Drogba gets.

Him and Drogba together (assuming he keeps up last seasons form) would just be ridiculous.

It seems like a bit of a danger signing Torres. A lot of players who start getting injuries at that age never recover to hit full form ever again. The way he played this WC probably goes to show how hard it can get to get back into the shoes. I know he scored a whole lot this season - despite being injuried. It's just that things change quickly on the top.

He'll stay at Liverpool and they'll suck a big goose egg in terms of winning anything this season. I'm almost sure he will also keep his record of playing 1 game and being out for 2 in tact. He's a few years from being one of those sad cases who could have been great had he signed for the right team.

Liverpool recently have been one of those clubs that help destroy potentially great players.

nice to see though.

agree. another shite season awaits them. Watch out for the early excuses coming out.

Chelsea can't afford him and will never sign him in the first place.

Villa's came out and said the quotes are fake (he said this in Marca).

How do papers get away with making up quotes?

why would fernando leave.....

sure didn't he have you'll never walk alone on the inside of his captains armband at Athletico to show how much he loves the club.....

surely not....

Well he left his boyhood club didn't he? I'm guessing walking away from the sinking ship that is Liverpool wouldn't be too hard. He's better than that shower of shite and he'll know that.

I heard he left his boyhood club to join another boyhood club. He has a YAWN tattoo even while at Atletico I think. Moving to another club (a non-boyhood club of his) will test his ambition in football I think. He might want to be at a real current top club one day.

Of course, any top player with ambition wants to win things. He's not going to do that at Liverpool.

And I thought that YAWN tattoo was a piss take?

He's so shockingly injury prone nowadays that it'd be a risk to spend the £40m or whatever that Pool will want.

For this reason, I dont think he'll go to Real Madrid (Atletico's direct rival), or us (obviously). He wont go to Inter Milan (he'll get subbed in every game under Benitez again). Maybe Barca (are they Atletico's rivals too?). Maybe Chelsea or City (Liverpool's rivals too?).

I think he has very limited club to move to. He might well stay as he knows the Scousers absolutely adore him even at times when he is playing shite and shows no desire week in week out (although I have to admit that he is a very good player at most other times).

If Fabregas and Torres go to Barca, Barca will basically be the Spain national side. (as long as Torres is on the bench)

I think he cleared it up about this tattoo thing. Apparently his friends were getting them but he didn't want a tattoo, so he just went with the thing of getting it on the inside of his captain's armband.

I don't think anyone wants him anymore due to his injury problems. Clubs must be mental to pay 40M+ for a player who is so injury prone. I don't even see City paying that much.

I don't think Barca will sign him anytime soon and Real don't need him though the mighty dollar and lure of Real could persuade him. I can see him returning to Atletico, especially if Forlan leaves. How would he and Forlan fare as a partnership?

What about the Milan clubs or Juve, Roma et al?

Chelsea? City?

He has stated in an interview that he will never play for Real so you are right about that one

GuillemBalague

No truth in Torres and Reina exit clauses, and no intention of quitting Anfield in Jan.

NOW Liverpool fans should worry!

bump.

listening to J.Henry on 5live now .. he was asked if he could guarantee that gerrard and torres would stay next season and he replied with a
'players have more power ... and we dont wouldnt want anyone who is unhappy'
it came after a few other lines and it was dressed up as a generic response, but it was surprising to hear him say that

oh and he also said hodgson didnt build this team so you cant attribute the slow start to him
that wont go down well with those on rawk

Well if the dippers don't finish in the top 4, which is a real possibility, I don't think there's something to keep Torres there next summer.

He'll be 27 at the time and if he wants to win something he has to move, with Chavs the most likable destination.
