Fernando Torres to.....?

Do we want Torres to go or stay at liverpool?

Myself, i would want him to stay. I think they will have another disastrous season next year and i will pee myself if he has made stupid mistake. I cannot stand the big girl.

There's no chance in hell that Torres is staying. Even before Rafa's departure, his discontent was obvious and he often expressed his desire for winning silverware. With Rafa, who's always been an important influence in him staying, gone, there's nothing that would keep him at Pool.

Gone to Spain or Italy.

Ironically, it's his sale that will pave the way for the club's revival. They need a cash boost, and there'll be none quicker than selling to one of the mega-rich clubs. The money will go a long way, if spent properly.

I remember quotes from Torres that he would like to still play in Italy and Germany. So could see him going with Benitez if he still has any faith in him. He did always say he signed for the manager. How is he going to feel when Liverpool don't add in the summer as he hoped? If the rumours about Gerrard are to be believed what signals does it send to Torres?

Unless the big spenders get something else wrapped then I would be surprised if nobody ended up going for him. Would totally be worth a cheeky bid. When Fergie has been saving this money up i'm sure it's either for buying Ronaldo back or a bid for Torres. He predicted Liverpools decline from last summer maybe he saw this coming.

Rafael gone, Gerrard and Macherano possibly off, feck all money for transfers, most half decent managers unwilling to go there due to the ownership problems and you think he will stay? I have to admire your optimism.

City prepared to make Torres world's richest player

Manchester City are prepared to make Fernando Torres the world's richest footballer in an attempt to land the Liverpool striker, but he is ready to turn them down in favour of a move to Chelsea, Soccernet understands.

One of the men at the centre secret talks about a possible move has disclosed that while City are ready to outbid Chelsea, Torres is more interested in playing Champions League football next season.

"City were ready to offer Fernando Torres a huge contract, and by that I mean the biggest for any footballer anywhere in the world," the source told Soccernet. "But Torres said 'no', he was not interested."

Although no formal contract offer can be made by City as they have not agreed any fee with Liverpool, the middlemen have been working feverishly behind the scenes.

Torres has been made aware of the enormous salary being put in front of his advisors to tempt him to Eastlands, with the deal reportedly equal to the phenomenal wages Cristiano Ronaldo commands at Real Madrid - more than £200,000-a-week plus image rights and bonuses.

The source close to the deal confirmed that "negotiations" are already now underway behind the scenes involving Chelsea, who have made Torres aware of their interest, in a move that is being privately reciprocated.

The source told Soccernet: "Yes, negotiations are going on behind the scenes, and just how much Chelsea would offer in a transfer fee and wages is not something I am prepared to discuss at this point."

While managerless Liverpool are likely to hold out for £70 million for Torres, Chelsea believe a more realistic price is £50 million, so a lot of hard bargaining can be expected once Roman Abramovich authorises the first official offer for Torres.

Another source close to the Torres 'talks' is convinced that Chelsea may have already tabled a bid in the region of £45 million, well short of what Liverpool might expect, but that no response has so far been forthcoming, with Liverpool dispensing with one manager and recruiting another who might have strong views about whether Torres should be allowed to go, if he wishes to leave.

If he was to go renties would be his most likely destination.A strike force of Anelka,Kalou,Torres and Drogba doesn't bare thinking about.

I think the Caf would go into meltdown if he went to City

He wouldn't stay in the Prem if he left. Barca bought Villa and he wouldn't go to Spain, so following Benitez to Inter is the only likely move away.

I'd rather he stay with the dippers then go to either City or Chelsea.

The prospect of Torres + Drogba is frightening...

I prefer if he either stayed at Liverpool or went abroad. Would hate to see City or Chelsea snap him up

Can't see him joining City. If he does he's an idiot. He already left Atletico to try and fulfil his ambitions, the only reason he'd want to leave Liverpool would be to join a club who can challenge for league and European titles which he won't get at City. Chelsea could tempt him but abroad is more likely. His injury record may put teams off though.

I reckon it'd make Drogba half as useful because he'd be the one having to drop deep more often, and Torres wouldn't be as successful in a team with a very different style that's not built to get the best out of him.

i genuinely dont think he is worth that much

dont care where he ends up .. obviously would rather see him at liverpool .. them without the money and a crocked player .. what could be better

If he is to leave I can't see the dippers letting him go to a rival, he'd surely go abroad.

He isn't going anywhere. There are hardly any options for him, like others have said, a PL rival is out of the question. Spain, Barca are stocked up nicely, and want Cesc not him this summer. That leaves Italy, no one is Italy is going to pay THAT kind of money to get Torres.

There is another big club in Spain with money to spend.

I agree with you though, few options.

Yes but that club is the bigger, uglier, meaner elder brother of his boyhood club. I think it is safe to say, he has more of a chance of coming to United than going to Real.

I agree about Torres not being a money grabber,I expect he'll make a decision based on his ambition first and money second like his move to Pool which was supposed to enable him to win trophies.

The thing is, there's only a handful of clubs that could afford to finance the potential fee involved and wages he'll warrant. He won't join Real because of his Atletico background, and won't switch to United for the same reasons. Arsenal never spend big and don't really need him, Barca probably will have to unload Zlatan to even ponder a move for Torres and City while offering the most money aren't there yet in terms of prestige, CL participation and chances of winning trophies.

That leaves Inter with Benitez in charge and Chelsea, both possible but the Italian version is easier to imagine due to offloading him abroad rather than to strengthen one of your local rivals, although Moratti will have to unload one of Milito,Eto'o,Ballotelli and Pandev to make room for him.

I'd say realistically it's between staying for one more season at Anfield to see how it goes or re-joining his former manager at Milan.

There are few options but all you need is one, Chelsea and City are both poised to be great teams over the next decade, and will give him a big bump in pay, if he is going to stay in England why not go to one of them. He is far too good of a player to not be playing in the champions league.

You're probably right. I think he's on record as saying he'd never play for another English club, plus like you say I don't think Liverpool would sell him to one of their main rivals. He was also quoted as saying he'd like to try Italian football in the future. Maybe now he'll follow Benitez over to there.

Why do you think Liverpool have got rid of Benitez.

He had a clause set in his contract that he had 100% control of all player movements.

There are two ways this could have panned out.

1) The club wanted to cash in on Torres and Gerrard and should Benitez dig his heels in they would be powerless to offload them and bring in the money. They acted to remove that blockage and therefore for £6 million they can now possibly sell the two for somewhere in the region of £100 million.

2) Benitez wanted to sell them, and having complete control if he said sell the club had no option but to comply. By getting rid of Benitez is removes the possibility that they are forced to sell them on this summer because Benitez says so. If they were sold because Benitez insisted on it, the blame would have been laid at the feet of the owners.

Whatever happened the club was in a no win situation. Should they want to keep Torres or not, the decision wasnt theirs to make.

Benny was sacked because he was shite, no conspiracies there mate...

FERNANDO TORRES TO.........Sign for Brighton. He will find the lure of moving to the butt banditry capital of the UK irrisistable, enabling him to finally confirm he is a comitted and dedicated cross dresser say sources close to the androgynous tart. As he is likely to spend more than half of the season injured this will leave plenty of time for him to trawl the gay clubs and public toilets of the seaside resort looking for a daddy.
The rumoured transfer of closet homo "Stevie anally abuse Me" to a london club will ensure the pair are close enough to continue their forbidden affair.

See, I could be a tabloid journo

Instead of creating a new thread (which someone will undoubtedly do), I'll just piggy back of a previous thread. This should go down well if Torres ends up at Chelsea, seeing as who's running transfers at Liverpool today (Chelsea fan).

Chelsea make £50 million bid for Torres

Chelsea make £50 million bid for Torres - Transfers - ESPN Soccernet

Chelsea are waiting to hear back from Liverpool having lodged a £50 million bid for Fernando Torres, according to a transfer insider.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the green light to what would be the biggest domestic transfer in Premier League history, but will have to out bid Manchester City.

An insider close to the negotiations told Soccernet: "There have been two verbal offers for Torres, Chelsea are willing to pay £50 million, but Manchester City offered verbally £25 million more!

"Liverpool would naturally want the bigger sum, but Torres as made it perfectly clear that he won't be joining Manchester City, even though City would go as high as £200,000-a-week wages.

"Even so Chelsea would pay Torres £140,000-a-week and when you're at that level, the important thing for the player is to go to a club with Champions League football and the chance of winning the major honours.

Liverpool, who are still to appoint a new manager after parting company with Rafael Benitez last month, have not formally acknowledged Chelsea's approach.

The blues are also in the hunt to sign Yossi Benayoun from the Anfield club and Soccernet's source expects both players to be at Stamford Bridge next season.

"If you are asking my opinion both Torres and Benayoun will go to Chelsea, the Benayoun deal is very close to completion, but Torres won't be sorted out now until after the World Cup Finals."

If we've really got this transfer money and this is about to go down we should be in there. If he'll entertain the idea of moving to Chelsea why not us. Lots of Liverpool fans will hate him if he goes to Chelsea so what difference does it make.

ESPN Soccernet is a crap site, I remember two or three months ago they ran a story that a Premiership manager has confirmed to them that Aguero is joining Chelsea.

I doubt Torres will even entertain the idea of joining United and the club owners are aware of what kind of outrage selling their best player to the historic rivals would create. Even selling him to Chelsea or City would provoke a serious reaction, but Man United - forget about it.

Not going to happen.

It's the same guy, writes under the name Harry Harris and always cites his "insiders" as sources of information. It's a joke, really.

Lets not forget how convincing Fergie can be. It must be on his mind a bit that while we were in for him at one point he picked Liverpool in the end. And he has spent his time there watching us win 3 leagues and the Champions League, World Club championship etc. If he's going to leave it's going to be for medals and imo he stands more chance of that with us than at Chelsea.

If the owners are willing to sell Torres the outrage from the fans will be there whoever he signs for. Just look at the reaction when rat boy jumped ship yesterday if anything the fans might not be as suspicious if he went to us as at least it doesn't look like Broughton is stitching them up.

Liverpool were happy to go in for Heinze that was unchartered territory. Since then they have been strongly linked with Tevez and us taking Owen. I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a bid.

I'm surprised that being a MU supporter you fail to see the difference between Torres leaving Liverpool for United or pretty much any other club on the planet. Do you remember what happened when Heinze decided to go in opposite direction a few years ago? And unlike him Torres is not just a squad player who lost his starting place, he's easily Liverpool's best and most valuable player.

Also, Torres himself seems to be the type that takes these things seriously. I don't see him ever joining Real Madrid or Manchester United. Doesn't mean he won't leave Poll for some other club if things don't improve.
