Fernando Torres to.....?

I see the difference from a fans point of view. But from the players point of view what difference does it make. No doubt if he goes to Chelsea he will get abused on his return same will happen if he comes to us. Appart from having more chance of success like I said to Torres what difference would it make?

If he really feels so loyal to Liverpool fans Chelsea wouldn't be a consideration.

I remember about Heinze and the reaction. Not a huge difference to how they reacted to Owen. Look at there fans reaction to Benayoun. Lots have turned on him and he's not even there top player.

If he really takes his loyallty to Liverpool seriously he will leave for Italy with Benitez as he has said he would like to play there previously. If he leaves for Chelsea he is doing so because the owners want the money and he wants to be at a succesful club and doesn't care if it's a rival. So again I don't see why itI wouldn't be worth a bid. Highly unlikely to happen but lets not pretend if he went to Chelsea the reaction from the fans to the owners, the Chelsea season ticket holding Chairman and Torres himself would be one of joy and happyness that at least he never went to us.

I can assure everyone that not only due to the history between LFC and MUFC, but also with a Chelsea supporter running the show at LFC, there's ZERO chance of Torres being a United player.

Why the feck would those idiots hire someone who supports another top club, and a rival to the very top spot they covet?

Crazy isn't it. The guy is a Chelsea season ticket holder and was at the end of season party supposedly. He's just meant to be there to sell the club but unless it's coming straight from the owners which is possible then he is making the calls.

Fernando Torres appeared to be on the verge of leaving Liverpool after his agent indicated the striker is bound for another Premier League club.

Chelsea are at the front of the queue to sign the Spaniard and Manchester City also showed interest before moving on to other targets when they got little encouragement from the 26-year-old.

Agent Jose Antonio Martin said: ‘It is very likely that Fernando Torres will stay in the Premier League, but I cannot say that it will be with Liverpool. We are working on his future but right now you cannot guarantee that he will stay with the English club.’

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Torres, but Martin made it clear they will not challenge Chelsea for Torres’ signature.

‘It is ruled out,’ said Martin. ‘Barcelona have signed David Villa and now they want to invest the money they have in other players.’

Sportsmail revealed in May that Torres was a £70million target for Chelsea and, despite Roy Hodgson insisting he would do all he could to keep the Spaniard and Steven Gerrard, the new Liverpool manager could offer no guarantees.

Having already sold Yossi Benayoun to Chelsea, Hodgson would prefer to raise funds for his squad rebuilding by selling the likes of Javier Mascherano and Albert Riera.

But Hodgson knows such is the state of Liverpool’s finances — their debt is £472.5m — a big offer from either Chelsea or City for Torres will be almost impossible to turn down.

Torres says talk about his future must wait until Spain’s World Cup campaign is over.

He said: 'My future is here in South Africa. It is too important to think about what happens after that.

'I was happy he got the job. He did really well at Fulham and I am sure he can do better for Liverpool. After the World Cup, I'll have time to talk with him. But I have a contract, that's the reality.'

Torres - who had ankle surgery in April - has also defended himself after his difficult start to the Word Cup finals, where Spain have reached the semi-finals.

He added: 'It is a difficult tournament for me. I didn't arrive in the best moment in terms of fitness, especially after two operations but I'm happy with the things I am doing.

'Hopefully the manager and the team are happy as well. Everyone has to try to give a bit to the team to get the best.'

I'm guessing this is too unlikely to get my muppet mask on?

yeah - very unlikely.

1. Don't think United could afford the transfer fee.
2. Don't think Liverpool would accept an offer from United - they would have no reason to as there would be no shortage of suitors, and they will not have forgotten the Heinze issue.
3. Don't think Torres would consider the move even if we could afford him and Liverpool did accept.

Chelsea with Drogba and Torres up front? Potentially unstoppable.

4: Why do we want an Injury Prone ladyboy?

Because if we could keep him on the pitch he would be a fantastic signing and a great goal scorer for us. Sure even look at his goal scoring record last season even with the amount of games he missed - it was a stunning goals per games return.

If he does move, his likely destination in Chelsea. There are few clubs he could possibly move on to (ie. to fulfil his ambition and who has enough money to buy him). Barca was an obvious choice, but that boat might have sailed when they signed Villa. As an Atletico old boy, not likely from him to move to Real either.

Unfortunately for us Torres seems to have a fair bit of loyalty to his clubs, and I can't see him moving to us, or even to City for that matter. That leaves Chelsea as prime candidate. Tabloid bullshit or not, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this really happens. Liverpool needs the money, and if say 60mil were thrown on the table, they'd be silly to turn it down.

I think it's fair to assume it's City as no other Premier League club could afford him right now.

Torres will play for Liverpool next season.

Liverpool would only sell if someone offered silly money.

No one apart from City would offer silly money.

Torres won't go to City.

Chelsea don't have the money they used to have!

And never know Woy might accept an offer from United :smirk:

He wants to maintain his friendship with Fergie!

They won't.

Why would they?

I wouldn't pay more than £20m for him.

Maybe roman abramovichs favourite female has a fancy for Torres and so he's buying him for Chelsea.

That or he fancies him himself...

Either way for all "chelsea dont have money" if Abramovich wanted too he could still just whip out the check book and splash some serious cash.

Pedantic.

I wouldn't pay £25-£30m for him.

Haha, maybe, although I would.

Alright he's a bit injury prone, but at United that would get managed accordingly, rather than throwing him in at the deep end week in week out. You can't deny he can do an awesome job in the PL, and if he could get us aroun 18 goals a season, well, isn't that exactly what we're missing?

£25m for a £35m rated player? Yes please. Especially in the current market when he's more likely to go for about £65m.

You don't pay that kind of money for players who are missing so much of every season as he is.

You do if he is able to bag 20 odd goals regardless. Last year he would have been the difference (obv). If he can do that for you for 4/5 years then £25 is an absolute steal. Not to mention the shirt sales etc.

Fair enough we have enough strikers etc... But you can't deny £25 for Torres is more than reasonable.

He is still a sexual devient, and would we get our money back when he goes all the way and has the op, and has to play in the womens league?

On form & fit, he's the best in the world. We can't argue about that. Shame he plays for the dippers and not us.

But, the thing with Torres, he's always carrying some kind of knock. If he was injury free, he'd be unstoppable. Unfortunately.

I can see him and Gerrard leaving in all honesty.

All three (Carragher, Gerrard & Torres) have been asked about Hodgson's appointment, and only Carragher has actually came out and said he's looking forward to working under Hodgson. Neither Gerrard or Torres have said such a thing, they've merely said they think it's a good move for Liverpool.

I'd rather he stay with the dippers and remain unhappy, unfulfilled and a half a season crock. He's good where he is, at a club which lacks ambition and direction. I'll settle for him staying a year or more with a mediocre team then someone like Chelsea, Barca or Inter who we might meet at some point in the champions league.

Last summer or the summer before that they probably would have fetched £50m+ for him with ease. After a season of continued injuries and poor performances, they'll be lucky to get £35m for the crock.
