Fernandinho

An attacking midfielder?

How are they going to line up next season?

Very complete player.

He will have no problem with rubbish weather, intimidating stadiums or physical matches after his spell in Ukraine. Mobile and physical, hard working, intelligent.. City have bought a very good player. Im confident they will buy another cm or utilize him wrong though and waste his talent.

Hopefully this increases our chances of getting Thiago's signature.

City don't feck about, Navas and now Fernandinho.

They'll have a great squad come next season.

New signings will be of little use to them if they keep playing in the ponderous, Barca-lite style we witnessed in the Cup Final. Impotent and indecisive.

So, City next season would look something like:

Back 5

Navas Yaya Fernandinho Silva

Aguero

New striker (Tevez)

Or probably they'll sign Isco and play Aguero as the main striker.

A very good team.

Last summer it was pretty much the opposite, with most of their transfers happening on deadline day.

I think they've learnt their lesson. Suspect these players have been in the offing for some time but only completed at the seasons end.

Some Journo on Talksport raving out him this morning - said he could "revolutionise" City and have a big impact. Suggested he's a player akin to Martinez at Bayern.

We'll see I suppose. Defensive work isnt really an ordinary Brazilian trait.

City have already spent £56 million on two players, neither of which are going to win them the league.

Or with the addition of a couple of players who can play that style, potentially pretty formidable.

City weren't a million miles away last season. The jury is out on Pellegrini for me but they have a good squad and should do well next year.

Regrettably the players they've signed seem to be sensible attitions in areas where they needed to stregthen.

They're moving quick indeed this summer, Fernandinho is already having his medical at Manchester Hospital - although this deal has been in the pipeline since Jan.

I can see a few players leaving Citeh though (Dzeko, Tevez?, Nasri, Lescott, Sinclair) and a CB & ST coming in. Sounds like they've got their targets lined up well in advance... Makes me wonder how long ago they were in contact with Pellegrini!!

Whats this guy like then? Has anyone watched him play, other than YouTube vids?

£34 million? :lol::lol:

But the important part is that both are very good players and will improve their chances of winning the league. The sums involved are utterly irrelevent - money is no object to City. These players could cost them £100 or £100million, it doesn't matter. What's important is the impact they'll have on the squad, which -- as far as anyone can tell before they've even kicked a ball for City -- will be a positive one.

It's not like ourselves throwing £30million at Berbatov, or Liverpool with their £35million for Carroll. Both of those clubs have a finite pot of money, so signing players for huge fees has a tangible effect in that it leaves less money left over for other players. That's not a problem at City. It doesn't matter what they spend on Player A, they've still got as much as they need to buy Player B, Player C and Player D.

Well in this case they probably believe they can recoup a chunk of the money by selling players - not just through the transfer fees, but also through getting them off the wage books.

That is a lot of money. Isn't he about 29?

Why are City buying players when they haven't even got a manager?

Tbh who cares what they paid for him. As long as they can afford him and FFP won't forbid it all that matters is that they got another very good player...those feckers.

Was right after the CL group draw came out wasn't it? Came off as a bit of panic buying.

Of course now as they bring in these new players they have to start unloading some current players and recently that seems to have been a problem for them given how they overpay on wages.

Many had said Sinclair would be sorry about heading to City, not much playing time and soon replaced by someone with a bigger price tag. Wonder how he is feeling about all this.

He would have got a double your money pay rise and footballers seldom take pay cuts when they move on. He will probably wake up in the morning; look at Helen Flanagan's tits; read his bank statement and think 'Manchester ain't so bad'.

Apparently out of everybody in the CL last year, he completed the most successful dribbles of everybody over 25 attempts.

So yeah he's a ball carrier.

He will make them solid in centre midfield 30 million is nothing to them in all honesty players like him give players like Toure and Silva a more solid foundation behind them he can become invaluable in that regard all they really need is a prolific and mobile no.9 now and maybe a replacement for Nasri and then they will be done. They have gotten their work done early this year so when the new manager comes in he will know what he has. They have improved the team with these two signings.

Lot of money for someone who isn't an international in a not amazing Brazilian team. Won't judge though, don't think I've ever seen this guy play.

They still need more wing cover IMO. Navas is great (primarily because he is a real winger) for them, but if he gets injured they will be fecked. I expect Pellegrini to sign another winger.
