Issue? There is no issue my end. The only issue we seem to have here is that you are shocked someone thinks different than you. We are on a forum and someone has a different view to you, go figure. Here is a piece of advice though, if you don’t agree with something someone has said, rather than being a condescending little prick, why not approach the matter in a way that will make posters want to engage in a convo with you.
I'm not bothered about involving myself in a discussion because as far as I can tell there isn't one to be had. You're the one thats resorted to insults, so maybe you should take a look at your affairs before you start dishing out advice.

Your point never made sense, I asked you to clarify how something clearly illogical (i.e. that the removal of a clause that represented a maximum ceiling on any transfer fee would make the deal cheaper) and you've not come back to me.

It leads me to believe that you don't understand what a release clause is and made your statement on the basis of a mistaken belief that the 22m (before August the first) was the ONLY fee that could be accepted, that is the only way I can reconcile what you stated with what has happened.
The Caf is getting tetchy.

For Christ sake Moyes, just sign someone, anyone, so the Caf can go back to a place of peace and harmony without someone menstruating in every thread.

It's also a huge assumption on your part.

There is no assumption, I am not saying that is what is happening, just saying it is a possibility whereas you were being a complete prat and making out there was no possible way.

I dont agree with that. He's very arguably worth slightly less than that. If this clause expires Everton can simply ask for £30 million if they dont want to lose the player and arent interested in cashing in. It could be they feel they cant get a replacement to want to join them and would rather keep the player unless it was a bonkers offer.

Everton are a selling club, they will cash in on him sooner or later

how long has he got left on his contract?

3 years left, and we have no reason to sell him at this moment in time. Logic would dictate that we will sell him sooner or later but nobody really knows what could happen in the next few seasons. Nobody expected us to get that CL place all those years ago. We might slip into Europe and manage to keep players rather than have to sell.

fair enough - yes at 3 years you are not in a big hurry.

out of interest, how much would you be happy to sell him for?

I wouldn't mind if we took Barkley off your hands. I though that Moyes might have put in bid for him already.

No theres a massive assumption in your post that Everton are desperate to get rid and basically are being massive chancers. You're assuming at least 3 things and all of them are, as far as we can tell, wrong.

Anything above £20 million.

Fair enough - cant argue with that!

I havent said or inferred anything of the sort - I suggest you reread my posts.

I don't think Moyes would make a bid now. He has actually been rather critical to Barkley, but i think that might be down to a bit of reverse psychology.

Due to both his performances for us, but also the fact that we paid around £15 million including the installments for him.

Genuine question: do you think at least part of Fellaini's peripheral vision is impaired by his ridiculous hair? Watching him in the wind in SF last night, there were times it was completely covering one side of his head, presumably stopping him from seeing anything in that direction.

Get him in and give him the Bebe treatment I say. He'll be a new player.

Of greater concern regarding his impaired vision might be his strangely bushy eyebrows. When he muffdives his WAG who knows what he's actually lapping up!

I'll have him. Could give us something we haven't got, but not necessarily making our first XI any better.

Last few posts had nothing to do with Fellaini so moved them to random chat thread.

Try and keep this thread for any actual updates/discussion.

There was a valid point about how strong our side is somewhere in there though :annoyed:

We are getting so wound up over signings we are forgetting just how good a squad we have.

Different, not necessarily better.

The stats say otherwise.

He's much better defensively, stronger, better in the air, scores more goals.

The only thing he's not as good as, is passing and possibly pace.

What stats?

Last time I checked, passing was quite important for footballers - especially midfielders.

On those fronts hes better than Xavi too!

I rate Fellaini and all but I think Cleverley is great and would fight it out with Fellaini to partner Carrick in the big games. Theyd make a good partnership themselves too.

Passing is probably the most important thing we need for a team like United. Also pace is very important for us because of the way we've always played, although I don't think Fellaini wouldn't succeed because of that. Our main criticism has always been how we collapse once we're put under pressure. Cleverley was a step in the right direction because he is comfortable on the ball, but Fellaini would be a step back in that respect because although he may be individually a better player, he is a different type of player and wouldn't suit us as well as Cleverley, or most other mids. Fellaini is just not someone I ever see fitting into United.

As I said, would give is something different. Clearly a decent player.

He would give us something different, aye. So does Phil Jones when we play him in midfield. So does Rafael when we play him in midfield. Heck, even Fletcher these days gives us something different playing in midfield.

He's a worse midfielder than Cleverley and fitness issues are the only thing that makes him on par with Anderson.

As a second striker/target man he's a good player, a goalscorer and a nuisance, but if that were what we were looking for we could just as well have sign Kevin Nolan 6 years ago.

Think it's bullshit!

There has been nothing to even suggest we're signing him all summer with the exception the boy Moy is his ex manager.....

So having said that and knowing I'm a complete tosser, we're signing him lads

He is the new target? Then who the feck were we linked to from Everton since the start of the summer?

Its different though with Fellaini. He is an established midfielder as in his main position is in midfield whereas with either Jones or Rafael, their primary position is in defense and when they are used in attack or midfield, its sort of a last resort option.

I'm certain that Fellaini will be a signing like Valencia or Vidic in that there will be plenty of groans as to whether he is good enough but he will prove his quality with time...he will get us goals...roy keane wasn't exactly a tiki taka footballer, nor is schweinsteiger but we will be much more solid defensively...will be very dangerous from set pieces...opponents won't enjoy facing him..I think its a good signing

It's almost closing time at the bar and it's just United and the homely girl that we would never try to pick up normally...

To be fair I actually do think he'd add something extra to our team, he could even prove to be our Yaya Toure and would bully the shit out of most midfields. Carrick would enjoy sitting back doing his often inconspicuous work while Fellaini does the chasing and hassling. It also means that we'd have someone who could play in Carrick's position in case of injury or just to rest him occasionally, we'd still have the likes of Cleverley and Anderson to rotate into the side.

 Could only laugh. Thiago and Fabregas to Fellaini.

To compare him to Toure is an insult also. Toure has much more to his game to just "bullying the shit" out of the opposition.

More laughable still are the favourable comparisons with Keane, Schweinsteiger and Yaya.
