Fellaini

Don't want. He's good in that behind the striker role, but wouldn't get to play there for United, and I don't think he'd start ahead of Carrick or Cleverley or a fit Anderson. There are better players out there for the money he'd likely cost. Plus he's a bit of a cnut.

Not a fan myself, not a good enough footballer to play for us. Yes he's a nuisance, but doesn't go too much further than that. Dembele or Witsel would have been the Belgian midfielders worth signing.

Sometimes when i watch him it appears that he doesn't have the touch and technique to play for us, at the moment he is perfect for a team like Everton.

I have just watched his shenanigans from Saturday!

Absolutely outrageous stuff!
He should get a 6 match ban

Didn't think there was much in the elbow or push anyway

Seriously? He looks to see where the ref is and then purposefully headbutts Shawcross. In the rules, you don't even need to make the contact - intent is enough. Very cnutish.

Joey Barton on Twitter:

"Wouldn't wanna see a fellow pro banned for a long period but you gotta' love the FA's consistency, haven't you? #felliani"

He's got a point. Fellaini has two separate incidents but only gets three games - Barton gets much longer for also having multiple incidents. Then again, Barton's a massive cnut.

If Barton ever came back to PL, FA will ban him for another 10 games after tweets like that. :)

What about Nainggolan? Seen some of his games for Cagliari and he looked good.

Apparently the ref says he saw the other incidents but didn't think much of them, so only the headleaning counts (not really a proper headbutt, is it?).

Considering Moyes and Fellaini's spot on reaction, good decision. Hopefully these cases are settled that quickly more often without players and clubs turning them into soap operas.

Transfer forum folks. If you want to have a chat about his ban do it in the football forum please.

Rumour has sit he has a 22m release clause in his contract.

For me he has to be worth a punt at that price, would certainly add something different to our midfield.

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has a buyout clause in his contract that could lead to him leaving the Goodison Park club.

The club has refused to comment on reports that the midfielder has a £22m release clause in his contract.

The Merseysiders insist they never divulge confidential arrangements of player contracts.

However, there is a fee that could trigger a deal - but it is believed to be higher than £22m.

I'd be happy with this news if it was the summer as £22m + for what he has given us would be fantastic. The fact that if it is true and someone takes a punt on it now would be terrible considering we really need him to push on.

considering you paid 15 i believe for him, isn't 22 a bit shit?

No, not really. That £15 million has been worth every single penny and realistically i don't think any club is going to pay £30m + for him so around that mark is realistic and worth it.

Exactly, he would be a very good addition to our midfield and we need that muscle in midfield as well - which he will provide.

If we buy him, surely we'll play him deeper.

Not sure how good he is there is the point. Won't be the worst of signings thoug.

Would walk into our midfield.

-------Carrick
Fellaini-----Cleverely

If we're playing three central midfielders, then yeah he might get in there before Anderson.

However we've not played with 3 CMs like that since 09/10 - we play two deep and Rooney advanced. I'm assuming you know this so then the question is who do you think is worth dropping/moving out of position for Afroman?

Think he is suitable based on the fact he is a robust physical presence which we have been lacking in midfield for quite a while now. In terms of his skill set as a central midfielder for a team like us and our style of play, I'm not so sure. I agree he is perfectly suited to that more advanced target man role he is fulfilling at Everton. Honestly think if Ando could stay fit, I think he is perfectly suited to what we're looking for/need.

He will be a quality signing for whoever signs him

I hope we don't pay the 22 mil.

As others have said in this thread, where he is best is an area in which we already have Rooney and Kagawa, neither of whom he is better than.

Really?

Kagawa has shown nothing yet, far too early for that.

If we signed him it would be like the Powell signing, a player that's playing higher up for their club because he's by far their best player will be pushed back into midfield because that's where they are better.

At £22m it's a steal imo.

I think he'd offer something completely different against team we'd struggle to break down who stack men behind the ball. Its those games that if you play him off the striker then he'll be able to offer something different, particularly when you consider we're a team that relies on width.

He'd also be able to provide some more steel in a deeper roles against teams who have midfielder who really drive with the ball. Imagine Felliani taking Toure out of the equation against City. His passing attributes are acceptable enough for a top side and the fact he can offer something else means that teams would have to practice different things in preparing to face us, meaning that other factors might get missed.

For the money im not sure we'd be able to get much better to be honest.

i think its a bit of a gamble because he excels further forward but we would need him to play a deeper role in the midfield. to put it bluntly, we just dont need more players in the final third. so for me he would only be worth 25 million if he were able to slot in effectively in a midfield two. for what it's worth, i think he is fully capable of this given his size, physicality and passing ability. the fact that he could chip in with a few goals every year, even from this deeper position would be an added.

Fellaini would be a good signing IMO.

He could sit in a midfield 3 as the link between a defensive Carrick and an attacking Kagawa. He would also give our team some much needed height.

Imagine the likes of Fellaini and Smalling in the box when defending set pieces, you wouldn't worry for a second.

Imagine further Van Persie whipping a corner onto Fellaini's head.

Would be an excellent signing. A Carrick, Fellaini, Cleverley midfield would be very good and I'm sure he's perfectly capable of playing well in just a midfield two. Lets face it we are not going to sign another Roy Keane from somewhere and realistically there are not that many options available. We stupidly missed out on Dembele so lets not do the same again.

I must say I'm not his largest fan. Not convinced he's enough of a footballer for our central midfield. Then again, Roy Keane was no Scholes or Xavi, so if Fergie thinks he's the one, then that's cool with me. I'd have taken Dembele or Witsel before him though, while we are talking Belgian midfielders.

Never understood the rave reviews he gets and honestly wouldn't want him anywhere near our club. One of the dirtiest players around too, he has a moment in almost every game, often almost taking somebodies head off and somehow getting away with it.

Been a big player for Everton this season, cant really deny that, but I don't see why we'd need him, certainly not the type of player we're in need of. I've always seen him as a guy who isn't really great at anything, good at some things, decent at the rest.

Confident a lot of people will disagree with that, but I doubt I'll ever get the hype.

Agree man. I posted this a couple of pages back....

"Last season he won more tackles and aerial challenges, got dribbled past the least and won more possession than any other midfielder in the Premier League. He won the ball 190 times and the nearest to him was Alex Song some 30-40 behind."

In a deeper role more central role...which he himself feels is his best & favourite position...he would be terrific for £22 million. I feel that he has the drive & mentality to improve further at somewhere like Old Trafford.
