Fellaini

At least with Fellaini's hair, he's ready for Rooney's slapping-celebration across people's heads. Will cushion the blow.

Imagine bidding 25mil for Baines after our last bid for Fabregas was worth 35mil. The amount we're willing to actually bid for Herrera.

He's not world class player - but he'll be an effective one. Almost perfect for us. He'll get us goals from everywhere and he'll also create a lot of chances. Will give us steel in the midfield and finally a player who can gallop through the middle brushing aside challenges coming at him.

Sky Sports sources understand Everton have made an enquiry for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy. McCarthy has been linked with a possible move to Everton all summer following Roberto Martinez's appointment as manager at Goodison Park.

Can't see how Everton would be able to afford him if they don't sell someone.

Hopefully they tell us to feck off re Baines but give us Fellaini for something around the release clause that we missed out on (we really are fecking amateurs this summer).

  • Manchester United are poised to bid £40m for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. (Manchester Evening News)

£24M + £16? Whatever it is, just get it done. Wouldn't mind if it was only Fellaini, but still wouldn't mind Baines here, I like him.

Really, we should have really conducted all our Fabregas stuff much, much earlier - and then whe he refused (much much earlier) we could have come in for Fellaini whilst his clause was still intact... all this said without knowing one feck about how things things work in actual land.

Though we should have been trying to bring them both in for my money!

He told the journos off the record that were in Malaysia with them on our pre season tour. All the papers ran with the story the same day - in that story was that we could make a move for Fellaini once we'd had a look at other targets.

well that all sounds like the usual media bullshit to me - there is no way that Moyes would be briefing journos about transfer targets off the record

I dont believe that if we had managed to get Fabregas that we would have gone for Fellaini as well - perhaps if it was Thiago then it could have been a possibility.

Baines is a very good player but we don't particularly need him. Just sign Afro Thunder instead.

Yep, Baines is not worth it - he's worth more to Everton than he would be to us. If we really want a new attacking left back, which we really don't need, we could get Fabio Coentrao for around the same amount and get 4 more years out of him.

We probably would have bid that for Fabregas in the end, if he wanted to come.

The whole Fabregas business was just amateur, especially bidding for him straight after Thiago is transferred to Munich.

Two players over one player.

Means nothing. Compare the quality of the players and the positions they play in. i.e. we really dont need a LB.

We are hearing that Manchester United are edging closer to agreeing a deal for Everton ace Marouane Fellaini. Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage between both clubs. Fellaini is expected to play for Everton against Cardiff on Saturday, but United are hopeful of securing the Belgian's signature before Monday's transfer deadline.

I agree, we seriously need a midfielder in that kind of mood and Marouane should be priority.

I won't be disappointed if we'll get Bainesy, too. The guy's crosses will provide Van Persie, Rooney, Chicha, Welbeck and Fellaini with lots of goalscoring chances.

By letting the deals going down the wire, Everton are running the risk of not replacing them properly/reasonably priced. Wigan will fleece them for McCarthy and the likes.

Would rather we overpaid for Fellaini and Herrera rather than Fellaini and Baines unless Evra actually wants to go and his only motive for staying is because we haven't got anyone in to replace him...which seems a bit farfetched.

Sooner this lanky fecker is signed the better. He'll surprise a few, I'm sure of that.

What would people think of a combination of signing both Fellaini and Herrera? Would they compliment each other and give us what we need squad wise in the middle of the pitch? It looks like we are going for both players with many initially saying they would be happy with Fellaini providing he wasn't the only CM we brought in. So. How does Herrera coming in as the 2nd suit?

Very happy if we sign both. Pretty annoyed if we just signed Fellaini but would get over it. Not signing anyone would be a lot worse.

It looks the the pair of them would cost a combination of £60m... you feel money well spent then with what they both offer?

We need midfielders and we can't afford to be picky with a couple of days left remaining

Of course we should still be picky, we aren't about to just sign anyone. Fellaini and Herrera are both undoubtedly talented players. I'd happily take either one and I'd be delighted with both.

Bastards, unsettling their manager's former club's best player like that.
