Fellaini (on his way) out? | Duncan Castles: Fellaini agrees new two year deal

Any fee is better than no fee. This is only a small part of the argument in any case compared to the other points I made.

Well I don't agree with the idea of giving players who aren't good enough new contracts to ensure we might get a small transfer fee in the future.

It has a lot to do with it but mostly its because how we was bought and the fact he wasnt Thiago. After that he had no hope. He isnt shite he is a good squad player, stop with this shite nonsense. How many important goals has he gotten for us?

About 5 or 6? In 5 years?

I do not understand the reason behind this meltdown. He will be our 5th/6th choice CM at best and will be most probably shipped out next year to Turkey or China. He's like a temporary bandage to just stop the bleed, the only reason he even got an extension is because we have other priorities and we do not want to spend millions on another CM.

The super scouts on here have hated him since day 1.

Jose, LVG, Martinez etc all agree.

Look what happened to LVG though. And Martinez is hardly great himself.

It's not bad that the manager got a player he wants to stay, but I don't like how Fellaini went about it and the other issue is his wages, he will be hard to move on if another manager comes and doesn't want him around anymore

Well nobody wanted him enough, that's for sure. Had he got the contract offer he wanted from another club he would have left long ago.
Speculation based on nothing. Perhaps he's happy here. Perhaps he doesn't want to uproot. I can speculate, too. Fact is, none of us know what he was offered or what clubs were interested.

I think this is what bothers people more than anything.
Which is odd to me. Do people think we should get a shiny new expensive midfielder who would either replace one of Pogba or Matic (no chance) or fight for a starting place with the likes of Herrera, McTominay and Pereira? No point risking that much when there are much bigger issues to deal with.

See you say 5th choice but he started our biggest game in champions league last year, he would have in the final if he wasn't injured too. You are right though, it kind of is fun to watch.
We haven’t signed Fred to be Fellainis back up, and I imagine Herrera, maybe even McTominay will feature as regularly if not more so than Fellaini. He’s there to do a specific job, he’s the John O’Shea/Phil Neville in midfield scenario.

Dont be silly, Jose is the worst manager in football and hasnt a fecking scooby about what he is doing. Oh and Fellani is the midfield Prunier.

Fecking hilarious. We payed £5 mill more than his payout-clause to get him here. Five years later, his contract finally runs to an end, and no one thinks he's staying - then we bend over and give him a new, improved two year contract.

It's comical. I particularly enjoy the people taking transfer speculation around him as gospel in order to criticise further. Whored himself out to Arsenal FFS....

Yep, these clowns live and die by every single twatter post or hack article ranging from the complete unknown to the known idiot journos. They are the dream for click bait merchants like shooting twats in a barrel.

People were moaning about the "Decision" that was supposed to be on the 1st of July with a picture of him outside the United training ground should have given them a bit of a clue that it was an old picture considering he is in Russia with the Belgium WC squad . No sources no direct quotes proven on video/audio so each time someone posts a tweet people think that Fellaini has instigated something or is doing something and that the twitter activity directly relates to him "whoring himself out" or "taking the piss" out of a club. The fecker never says anything ever lol.

joking aside I can't really imagine being so gullible.

Bloody hell, strong-armed by Fellaini. This is a new low.

I will wait to see what other transfers we make in the summer. I am still baffled that some posters need to attack other posters for thinking Fellaini shouldnt be at United. Fair play if you think he deserves a place at United and think he is your favourite player ever, or even only support him because a group of fans detest him, but i dont think we should have kept him. Nothing will convince me otherwise, especially when he is our plan A next season in the CL in some games and we have no clue how to play football against a semi decent team.

But we can speculate because that's basically what football fans do, is it not? After his recent comments in the press, I think it's a fairly safe assumption that few clubs were interested in acquiring his services considering he has now signed a new contract with United.

What do you think happened?

And free up £40m to spend elsewhere that would have had to go on another backup striker/cm

He's scored one goal with his foot in the last 2 years!
This is what he did in his five years
1.He scored the goal that gave United breathing space in the Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge
2.Crucial strikes in the quarter-final and semi-final of the successful FA Cup run of 2016
3.Decisive goal against Celta Vigo which sent United to last season’s Europa League final

Well worth that new contract then.

The press linked him with PSG, AC Milan and Arsenal, and that's without googling because I'm sure there's more. More speculation. Again, perhaps he decided to stay because he's actually happy at our club?

So depressing, this means no additional CM which we actually need and more throwing this lump on every game for the last 25 minutes and just going long ball, not to mention the games where he starts as a faux CM, such a terrible descion but in keeping with this manager, the sooner both are gone the better.

 Hardly the case is it?
Apart from the fact it is? Imagine if this was Pogba or Martial, or any other player he doesn’t seem bizarrely worship the ground for.

Oh hold on lads, another clubs manager was after Fellaini, we have to rethink this...hmm Emery was great at Sevilla...did alright at PSG...but Jose is the shits and so is Fellaini...hmmm what to do. Nah Arsenal werent probably in for him at all. Jose out!

He doesnt always give his all, thats precisely one of the reasons why so many people dont like him.

I watch all our matches and if there is ever a player who gives his all, it's Fellaini.
The aggression. The passion. The will to bully opponents. The unpredictability of his movements - all arms/legs/elbows in the opoonent's box causes all kinds of problems when defending long balls into the box. Those are Fellaini's strengths.

The 'running through brick walls for his team', mentality is exactly the reason why Jose likes him so much. And this is the very reason why Jose tends not to play Martial as much.

I'm more bothered by that than I am by the actual renewal. Fellaini has been below average in every single seasons that he played for us, he isn't the only one obviously but acting as if he was a good player or as if he has helpful is puzzling.

Not just a good player, an "excellent" player.

It's baffling.
