Fellaini (on his way) out? | Duncan Castles: Fellaini agrees new two year deal

The countdown is on til the day when I can proclaim that my club is no longer paying Marouane Fellaini for his services

If he goes to Arsenal, their fans will be desperate to make out that they've got one over us and will welcome him with open arms. They are a strange bunch.

That was more of a balance issue, Herrera took his place and we’ve looked much better.

I don’t think fellaini is awful but he’s just not effective enough to make up for his short comings.

No we haven't.

I agree with your last sentence.

Fellani has clearly been unhappy at United over the last season or so, his intention to run his contract down and flirting with other clubs is testament to that. He's probably been negative and vocal in the dressing room/behind the managers back about wanting to be paid more and play more, and that will have alienated him from the rest of the squad, especially considering he isn't good enough for either of those things.

You rarely see Fellani hanging out with anyone from the team, even Lukaku, his fellow countryman doesn't spend time with him.

I think it will be a relief for the squad when he goes, they know his abilities better than we do and I don't think there's any amount of positive press Jose can give him that will change what the squad now think of him. New signings keep things fresh, positive and keep people on their toes, bring in Fred and another midfielder and we'll see much better performances out of the likes of Pogba.

Don’t agree. His passing range is far too short, can’t carry the ball passed a player.

Yes on his day he can break play up and play short passes but that’s not enough imo. Xhaka has much better potential he just needs a drill sergeant coach, Wenger is far too relaxed with players like that.
I think that's because both LVG and Mourinho told him to play it simple. I remember during Moyes era he was pulling couple of Hollywood pass just fine.

I like it how the Arsenal forums are discussing the possibility that Fellaini was misused by us for 5 years and that he will go back to his scintillating form at Everton as soon as he joins them.

When did that happen?

I seem to recall his season under Moyes being one of the worst seasons I've ever seen a Utd player have. He was utterly dreadful, easily his worst season at Utd.

That run with the ball against Bayern summed it up.

You are making a number of assumptions in this post without any evidence.

I don't think he's been a negative influence or anything like that but he sure seems to be having some money problems. He sued new balance for unspecified damages not long ago.

Has the revisionism started this early? There's not even a guarantee he's gonna sign anyway.

symptomatic of everything we've done wrong in recent seasons. Could have bought him at cheaper price but waited until his buy out clause expired. Panic buy on last day of transfer window just to show we could splash the cash. A player technically not good enough but can cover multiple positions and "tries hard". I hate that last part when it's used as a plus for him. That's the absolute minimum you expect from any player, such is the fragile state of mind of today's modern day footballer that it's seen a a plus. I've nothing against the player, I hope he does well elsewhere, he's just not good enough.

Don't think he's the club photographer. Freelance, is he not?

Apparently so according to his twitter bio. I could have sworn he was employed by the club, but it seems like we give him a lot of work and he knows the right people in the club.

As per latest rumours, he already has a great offer from some Chinese club. And he could squeeze them for more wages as the transfer is free.
So looks like that's his confidence when he is s**t talking about Utd or going into any other negotiations.

His first game for us vs Crystal Palace for example. He never did that again under Mourinho.

Imagine your childhood dream of being a professional footballer comes true. You get national team call-ups and even go to the World Cup. But then fans hate you , spew vitriol across forums and even boo you at home . You're not selecting yourself for these games, it's the managers who keep playing you . But you're the scapegoat.

What a feckin nightmare scenario. I feel for him. And if there's a sentiment that 'hes a pro footballer, the money can make him happy'...kind of endless loop of hate here bc he's being criticized for going after even that.

Just the human aspect doesn't sit well with me here

Totally agree. I think football fans forget that players are humans just like us. If people at our place of work plead for us to leave and slate us and want us to leave, we'd feel like shit.

I know he's entered an industry where you are in the spotlight but that doesn't mean that human factors should be ignored.

I'm glad he's leaving as I want to move away from the options he offers us, however effective they may be in some scenarios - but the way some/most fans have treated him have been embarassing and shitty.

I don't think he has been getting boos from fans for ages. Just couple of times this year probably. And even the media don't write stories on him. Pogba and Jose get lot more stick in the media than Fellaini.
As for the views of people on caf or on the internet, it will always be extreme. Be it when criticizing or praising a player. Check Martial/Mata or Bale thread. You ll see both extremes. I don't think Fellaini or any footballer should read or care about fan forums.

Not justifying booing him, but to talk about the boy's childhood dream is incredibly dramatic.

Are you saying Fellaini has a superb passing range?

Is this a wind-up? Arsenal want Fellaini?

I couldnt think of a more un-Arsenal player...

You should try writing fiction. You have a knack for it.

I don't remember any of that.

He was ten times worse under Moyes than he was under Mourinho.

Are you trying to argue he was held back by Mourinho and Van Gaal?

Maybe you mean "un-Wenger" player. This may be their way of declaring to the world that they are changing. Or maybe he is the only player available from the Top 4 teams who would be even considering a move there.

They would be changing indeed if this is type of player they want. Throwing the baby out with the bath water comes to mind.

Sorry but this is a load of BS without any proof and substance.

Yup. And that's the thing, I feel all this while wanting a very different player profile in our squad as well.

I don't think he has been getting boos from fans for ages. Just couple of times this year probably. And even the media don't write stories on him. Pogba and Jose get lot more stick in the media than Fellaini.

You're right, the internet is unrelenting. But as for thinking about his aspirations from that perspective isn't dramatic. It's empathy ...which is severely lacking both in the online and 'real' world.

and you know this how ?
This is just pure speculation and assumption from what you have seen on the TV and in the press, with no proof what so ever.
As for Pogba for me the jury is still well and truly out, his performances with France have been no better than with United.

I would lean towards maybe not mate, but if we do you'll probably be telling me you think Fred is being misused and he's really a right winger because you watched him back in the day playing for Internacional.

;) :p

Fear not, I watch a lot of Brazilian football but i've never seen the lad play. Or if I have he wasn't that impressive, a bit like his youtube videos, hope i'm wrong but looks like another 'miss' from Mourinho methinks, but DD does look a player! High hopes for the kid.

He needs to get his future sorted before the World Cup. A bad injury and no contract during the competition and he’s fecked.

What would the reaction be if there was a club tweet with a photo of him smiling "We are delighted to announce that Fellaini has signed a new 3 year contract with the Red Devils "

I think I'd probably laugh more than cry.

Troopz speaks and they're already swallowing their words

Apologies in advance for making anyone sit through him say 'you get me' 50 million times as well

RE: @charlenefan I wanted to reply and have posted the previous image, but I’m technically inept. Be that as it may, fam, it was hilarious, blud! Troopz spent less than 2 seconds on Fellaini and then spent the rest of his rant about getting Yaya, fam. For real, blud!!!

I mean it's not like he couldn't do cross-field pass like people thought he was. It's just Mou instruct him to only play by his main attribute.
