The stat doesn’t back up that claim because the position he plays at times doesn’t reflect his output. You can’t expect a defensive midfielder to score goals in large amount. Only when Fellaini is deployed as a target man that operates closer to goal, you will see his output increase, just like his time at Everton and at United when he operates closer to goal. Eitherway, we can agree to disagree. I rather heed the advice of managers who utilize this approach when they are desperate to effect the game, then a fan.Mate what are you talking about, you said that Fellaini was an effective plan B that people underestimate. I pointed out that his stats just don't back that up and now you are moving the goal posts waffling about his position.
Regardless of where he regularly plays when games start. When he is used by managers as a plan B to lump balls upto it rarely works. And when he's used in these scenarios he's basically sitting in the oppositions box.
Thats my point he's not an effective plan B, the stats back it up. End of story.
Fair play to him but I'd rather our forwards errmmm, attack.
Yea, but Fellaini can’t attack effectively unless the ball is in the air. You have to play to some players strength.
