Felipe Anderson

We will be dithering until the end of the window, and whilst we're dithering, Chelsea and City will pick up top class players with ease.
Yup, because it's easy to buy in january right?
I guess Chelsea bought top class this last summer too.

After the relative successes of the Martial and Di Maria deals I think I will wait until a player plays a few times in a United shirt before gauging whether or not it's a good deal.

Hard to understand this one. Why pay so much money mid-season for an inconsistent, out-of-form player who likely won't help us much this season?

Why not wait until the summer and try to get Mane or Mahrez who both look like better players? This certainly wouldn't in trying to convince anybody that we're actually not a desperate club with no sort of strategy in place.

Mane and/or Sane would probably be available now, but i guess we scouted/had Felipe far longer on our radar. The club/coaches maybe see something special in him, who knows.

Don't know what to think about this. I watched him a few times last season and thought he was good, but this season he hasn't really been a starter for Lazio, which is concerning. I guess he's had some problems with the Lazio manager, so that should explain some of his time on the bench.

Rumor is that he isn't in best terms with the manager because he wasn't allowed to leave in the summer.

I think he is the best we can get on the wings at this time, the better players are not available in January and we really need someone now.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Is he a disciplined player or a free spirit?

Is this looking like a goer then?

For those of you that haven't seen him, don't listen to people that are slating him already. I'll remind you that many were critical of the Martial signing and now look. This guy is young enough to develop, but is exciting, skillful and rapid. He's ambidextrous, which means he has variety to his game as a winger.

He's the type of player we need down the right. His speed and ability to beat a man will be useful right now.

All his touches in some random games. Looks more frustrating than Di Maria, loses the ball 80% of the time.

Those talking about him being dropped at Lazio, maybe this has been caused, or at least exacerbated by the fact that we have been agreeing a deal for him to out to bed early in the window. Lazio could have simply decided to start preparing for life without him.

I like him but I don't think he's the solution to "save our season".

We shouldn't care about our season, if he can be an important player for us in the future we should purchase him. Even if we fail this season we will still have a very good team next season.

The only frustrating thing about him is that 80% of the people writing him off haven't even seen him play.

Yeah I wouldn't mind that though but just imagine the caf after half a season of frustrating performances from him. With the "January signing" tag some probably already expect him to do something miracle to get us back on track.

I've seen him play a fair few times and I would say he is at least one rung on the ladder below the required standard. Hope he proves me and everyone else wrong though, if we do indeed get him.

We tried to sign him in the summer, Lazio refused cause they were in the CL. He then threw a strop and his manager punished him by criticizing him publicly and placing him on the bench. He's been in and out all season. I know he's the in the best form but he's hasn't been given a chance.

Looks awesome to me. But then again what player on youtube vids don't?

Only watched the Fiorentina one but he got into great positions, could have scored 3, won a penalty, regularly beat his man and played some nice forward passes. He doesn't release the ball early enough and chooses the wrong option, but that's something that can be taught. He clearly has ability though and would be an asset. Whether he's worth 30m and foregoing signing the likes of Sane over I don't know, I haven't seen enough of either.

So we pay a fortune for someone who is not the best we could get. Why not wait until summer and get the best instead of throwing more money down the pan? He might be alright, but if things go as normal with us, he will be useless in a few weeks.

He works very hard every game I've seen him play for Lazio but he's one of those players. When things starts going for him, he's top class and starts pulling off things only the best players can but sometimes he has his off days when nothing he tries succeeds. I guess it's the standard for these type of players.

LvG's job needs saving and they are desperate to stop the rot.

I get your point, but we need someone right now as well. Mata has been useless on the right for a while now and even at his best, he doesn't offer the pace and speed that we need on both wings. Even if we get Anderson this month, I don't think it'd affect our summer plans, as we'd also need another winger considering Memphis' consistently shit displays. Felipe Anderson now and someone like Mahrez in the summer is my bet.

The way he plays reminds me (from the Youtube videos) Willian. He could be a great fit for Van gaal on the right, I don't know a lot of players with his attributes, speed, power and skills.

I think LvG is searching for his Robben type player. Depay, Di Maria, Martial (although we play him as striker) and now this fella. None of those mentioned (Martial aside) have lived up to expectations.

We need somebody now, we can't just give up on this season and wait for the summer.

I dunno if he's good enough to make the impact we need this year, but even if he isn't he is young enough(22) to improve in the future and he can be a very good player. Sounds like a good buy to me.

I think that it's going to be Martial, I think that he plays everywhere because he rates and trusts him. What we need now is someone on the other side of Martial, someone more orthodox.

It just seems a weird one for half way through the season. I can't see him hitting the ground running at all, which is what we need, desperately.

As long as it isn't for that sort of money. Half that OK.

That is what I am worried about, signing someone who has spent most of the season sat on his arse on someone elses bench.

I like (this) Anderson a lot and I think he'd tear it up here given time. I said the same about Martial when everyone was disappointed with the signing, so I'm definitely right!......forget that I also rated Memphis :/ actually, I still think he's full of potential too, under another manager or in another team perhaps ;)

As much as we are struggling right now there's nothing wrong in investing in youth for the future, with the right environment and manager an attacking core of Martial, Memphis, Felipe Anderson, Januzaj, Pereira and Wilson could be very good for the future. I prefer us signing young players for areas that need improvement as opposed to signing proven players just because we can i.e. Mata, Falcao. It actually shows some semblance of long-term planning although I can completely understand the unease at Van Gaal and Woodward being in charge of said plan.

I've never really seen him play, just seen the odd clip of him and used him on FIFA and FM a few times but he is definitely the type of player I want to see at the club assuming Van Gaal doesn't do what he tends to do and stifle players natural judgement of a situation.
