Felipe Anderson

People expecting him to have a Douglas Costa like impact are going to be Woefully disappointed. He's not even the best winger at his club, let alone one of the best in the Italian league. You just know we are Gunna bust our nut at like 35 million pounds for him as well.

You know when we bought Buttner, and that scout came out and said it was weird because he was like the 5th best in the Eredivise, and he thought it was weird. this is a bit like that, he's been in dire form this season.

What doesn't bother me about this guy is that the criticisms thrown at him can be thrown at most, if not all, the wingers in the world. There are very very few in the world that are consistent, its the nature of that position in my opinion.

Douglas Costa has been linked to use since he was 18 and he wasn't rated that highly in all those years on the caf until he went to Bayern and surprised us. He was decent I believe, maybe even good in the russian league but it wasn't like he was pulling up trees there either so... We can hope.

There's not much, if any, noise about this happening anyway so I don't get why everyone's throwing their toys out the pram?

So this is the new Fabregas/Pedro/Ramos thread.
Devastated we missed out on the first two, look at them being world beaters for Chelsea. Lulz.

No this is the thread where most dread we actually complete this signing.

Not really followed this one, how likely is it for this transfer to go through.

Not convinced anything in these reports - from the limited viewing I've had, came across as "Nani like".

Looks on. The circumstances are just right. HE is a bench player who has a crap relationship with the manager. WE have alot of money, are desperate for speedy attackers and since no top top players are available in january we need to look for talent that are basically damaged goods or come with other risks. Linked with us since last summer.

Seems very true and seems the reason we're also so keen on Moura as well.

Romero, Valencia, Jones, Blackett, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Depay, Rooney, Anderson, Striker, this could be our most brainless lineup ever.
Schneiderlin? Think that's a bit unfair with Carrick's form this year, the rest are spot on though!

It's a very Liverpoolish transfer strategy though, but we are forced into this situation. Buy too many of those and the Liverpolisation is complete.

He won't be very good, he's got a poor first touch and tends to give the ball away. Put him in the PL when it's even more intense and he's going to struggle. He'll be a threat when he does have the ball, but he'll give it away loads and frustrate everyone.

*watch him be brilliant now, assuming he does come.

You have to wonder why we didn't just keep nani and Januzaj they are far better options than some brazillian version of memphis.

Would be such a waste of money if it goes through and once again it'll make us look desperate. He's a player we just do NOT need.

Lovely, thanks for the update.

Felipe Anderson would certainly add pace & unpredictablility to the Manchester United attack. Direct, lively, exciting to watch (1/8)

At times almost unplayable in 1v1 situations - blistering pace, direct style, ambidextrous (can) make him a full-back's nightmare (2/8)

Also possesses precise shooting ability (predominantly w/the right foot), quick footballing brain & brilliant technical ability (3/8)

Most comfortable playing on the left wing but nearly equally efficient on the opposite side, can even feature as a second striker (4/8)

Obvious downsides: lack of consistentcy (fades in/out of matches, plays in bursts), not keen on defensive work, at times too selfish (5/8)

Potentially exciting signing for Man Utd, but mentality & quick adaptation particularly important for such a "confidence player" (6/8)

Adding a player (mid season) with this particular profile to a collective that is not working perfectly, seems a bit of a risk to me (7/8)

The quoted price (£35M) also seems rather excessive given the fact that he hasn't enjoyed a particularly brilliant season with Lazio (8/8)

I think Pedro would have been a useful signing to be honest.

He would have been more useful and way cheaper than Anderson , that is for sure.
I heard city are in for sane......while we are in for Anderson :(

That is worrying .Especially because that is what LVG expects of his players.

At least he has genuine pace

Maybe he can do a Douglas Costa?

His season seems to be pretty shit so far, 35m is a rip off. Lazio should be happy with 15-20m, but as desperate as we are....

Is that good or bad?
Depends what you want I guess, but it doesn't read great.

For context, with Sadio Mane.
19 games
23 chances created
3 goals
6 assists
83% pass accuracy

In fairness, hasn't Anderson been coming off the bench? Any chance of comparing both their minutes?

Be easier comparing last season when Anderson's heart was in Lazio and not elsewhere.

So he is not even a starter for Lazio??
Same as Di Maria wasn't a starter for us, very similar situations, he obviously wanted to join United in summer and wasn't allowed now he's in a sulk. Last seasons Anderson was as good as any winger, interestingly last season he looked better than Douglas Costa for what it's worth.

Mata - highest number of assists over two years at Chelsea ------> Moves to United = Crap
di Maria - shed load of assists over a few years at RM ------> Moves to United = Crap + sold
Memphis - leading goal scorer at PSV and Dutch League -----> Moves to United = Donkey
Anderson - crap -------> Moves to United = ?

He isn't crap though. With the exception of Martial, he's an improvement to any of our forward positions.

TBH, I haven't seen much of him. The crap part I based on recent posts, where most have stated that he's been quite poor of late.
