Fantasy Tournament: World Cup All-Time All-Stars

To be fair only reason Pol had to post his line up is because you accused him of playing someone out of position without seeing it.

Really the ideal thing would have been if you had given your line up and game had started. If then Pol was playing some out of position and you had withdrawn, it would have been fair. To do before hand had led to all this non sense

Of course, I apologised to Pol for thinking he would bend the rules like that and should have waited, he's always been good in these things so thinking he was cheating was a bad move.

I'm pretty stressed at work right now and thought it was the only option which made sense when I tried to fit their team around the restrictions.

By the way if Theon wants another "admin" of the game that is completely fine with me if he has any hard feelings.

Good to see you back Theon, are you good for the game? it is not a priority though because family and work definitely come first, if there is too much stress at work, take a breather and do not worry about this game, Snow can come in if he is available or Crappy and Edgar can help

The caf is acting crazy after the game. I am here but having problems loading pages at all.

No hard feelings at all - I was just pointing out how you were being completely stupid. Moaning at someone for dropping out, criticising them for coming back in. Pretty retarded.

And then of course there is the general issue of you throwing criticisms around when you've been extremely unsporting throughout the games. I just thought it was pretty strange, that's all.

So what is the deal in the end? Crappy takes over or we wait for Theon/Snow?

I'm not playing this one, not keen on the insinuation that I've tried to cheat. Snow can play it, he has done nothing wrong at all and wasn't even online when this went on.

In the Fergus match I was being nice to him. He wanted to change dates to before new years eve. I agreed to his terms and adjusted with work to be able to have the game then so it could be played the best way possible.

He then ignored me for 2 weeks until the original date/game was about to get started, I didn't bring it up or slate him for changing dates back to the original ones. I again had to schedule around the new dates with work so I could participate - then he came one night before the game and said he needed to change dates. The dates he was available - I wasn't.

So either we played it on the original date or I'd have to forfeit because Fergus was late. I told Fergus that I'd then start the match instantly a day before - because then neither me or Fergus would be available much. This made it as fair as possible and I could have just played during the original dates if I wanted too as I was off from work then.

I couldn't have acted any more sportsmanlike if I hadn't forfeited because he was unable to make his write-up. I didn't force him to play during the original dates, I had the game when I was working and couldn't participate instead.

Alright mate! Remember that you are the away team Crappy and need the striker on top of your formation.

Snow can play it, he has done nothing wrong at all and wasn't even online when this went on.

I can vouch for this I asked them to confirm they were being serious about withdrawing and specifically asked Snow.

A few hours later and after it was all cleared up i get "I support the manager in his decision"

match tactics sent to Annah.

I have tried something very odd... might get laughed off from the park but so be it. Let's see :P

Why would you not just keep it the same ?

I PMed the tactics to Fruitcake

Yeah! Just waiting for that confirmation from Crappy. He's told me to wait for it, it'd be minutes.

I'd love to see/read it, if you don't mind posting it here anyway? The draft was full of 'odd' ideas and most were brilliant or at least lead to great discussions.

You can wait til after the game, if you want or if it could influence the game or something like that.

MATCH TACTICS

Kohler is man marking Garrincha - He is not playing as a left back at all. He is simply going to ghost Mane throughout the whole match and take him out of the game. That will be his sole responsibility in the game something he is more than capable of. If Mane does skips past him, you have none other than Figueroa there to clean up.

Roberto Carlos - Free of facing Garrincha he will provide the much needed width on the left, plus take care of Zizinho as well. I am not sure who on Pol's team is going to counter him?

Figueroa -

"I’m the European Figueroa".

Franz Beckenbauer
"Figueroa and Beckenbauer have been the only center backs who are better than me in Football History".

Daniel Passarella

"The area is my home, and I decide who enters it".

Elías Figueroa

Yes, he was that good. That good that he can clean up Mane on odd occasions he gets better of Kohler, take care of Eusebio along with Di Guia and play his traditional sweeper role.

How the team will stop Pol from scoring- Garrincha is man marked throughout the match. kohler + Elias will see to it that he he has minimal impact on the game. Andrade will do the job on Boniek. Esubio is up against two of the best of all time. Ziznhio will have Carlos to counter him, not to mention that CM combo operating in his area. Then there is Diego, as I see it some of the best people needed to stop him are on the pitch. Beckenbauer, Figueroa, Da Guia, Falcao all will be operating in similar area as him. Even 86 Maradone was not that good to get better of them.

How the team will score - There will be two primary areas we will be attacking from. Central and the left. Zito and Brietner will have their hands full dealing with Baggio and Zico, not to mention the Kaiser making runs in the similar area at times. Baggio will have the twin role of also moving forward to the penalty area at times so that Muller does not get isolated. Carlos will be mostly be unchallanged on the left and can either shoot at will or cross the ball in for Muller or Baggio.[/quote]

Me too . Interesting idea. I always wondered how you would have played against me, btw. If we had drawn each other in the last round, would you have used Vogts to mark Cruyff? Played an additional defender? Or just played your game?

Copied the draftname from Pol vs Aldo so it's still there. Hope it won't matter much as the rest is good.

Dunno! Would have been too tempting to let Vogts loose on Cryuff again, I think a lot of people would have bought him doing a job on him given the evidence. Especially with your strategy of left winger cutting it, it may have allowed me to do that without any extra defender needed. Garrincha would have made sure that your left back won't have attacked

The idea behind picking Meazza was making him the playmaker in the final third and playing Cruyff as a deep lying playmaker, in case you let Vogts loose on him. That really was the only reason, why I wanted him, but I really fell in love with the idea of playing him anyway and with rpitroda's strong midfield shield (Masopust, Varela), it made sense to use a few of the 'how to counter Vogts' - ideas. I'm not sure you really could have afforded to play Vogts in the way he did in the final in '74. He basically waited slightly behind the halfway line and tackled Cruyff everytime he stepped in the German half, but he completely exposed his side. A brilliant Beckenbauer and poor finishing by the Dutch players lead to that not being exploited. With Meazza and Kempes in the side, I'm not sure it would have worked for you.

I would have loved to play it though, pretty sure it would have been an exciting match.

Well if Cryuff plays as a deep lying play maker then I do have Dunga-Silva in there to cut out any space for him. May not need any man marking. I could also just leave Vogts where he is and have Forster man mark Cryuff. Pasarella is good enough to marshal the central area against a false 9 strategy

Kempes + Meazza ? Seriously, why is everyone thinking that I have no one in the box, just because Cruyff is dropping deep. That never made any sense to me, maybe in the first game with Ceulemans and Forlan, but with Kempes and Meazza? Well, we'll never know how it would have played out. Certainly an exciting match-up though.

Vogts would still be picking up his man from the left so it would not be Passarella alone. Plus Dunga-Silva would have tracked any deep runs as well.

I actually did think you would have someone in the box and hence voted for you against Annah since Kempes against his CBs would have resulted in goals for sure.

He didn't do that in '74 though, he really just waited around the halfway line, he was nowhere near his wing anymore. So you can't have him do his man-mark job on Cruyff and still cover his wing ;).

Right, I remember :). But that was without Meazza, it would have been even better against your team, if you used Förster for the job . Like I said, would have been a brilliant game, no idea who would have won. I'd say you would have been the favorite, your team also 'peaked early', like Anto put it so nicely about my team. It was pretty much flawless in the second round and you just run in the worst opponent possible.
