Fantasy Tournament: World Cup All-Time All-Stars

That's brilliant. Job already well done, Cutch.

Brilliant job, Cutch.

I'm looking forward to my game against rpitroda, after all I started as his manager and stole his favorite player from him ;).

/edit: I meant of course I started as his assistant, not manager.

Theon vs Antohan should be legendary. Agree with Pol and Crappy, both looked like the strongest teams in the draft.

This is Theon after the draw.

Urgh it's going to be a good game! Don't shaft me with your crazy analysis =P
Count on it . Also, your wall of death text tactic thingy was hardly less exhausting to read

Can the winners be separated and new picks included in OP?
Like the following?

@Polaroid could you edit it in the op instead of the games/draft picks that are shown now? Maybe have a quick look over it, that I didn't make a mistake with all the copy & paste.

Took less than 5 minues, so really not a big deal and I'm bored at work all the time at the moment, so I don't mind.

With Romario there's a case as well, albeit different. Even with Ronaldo and Rivaldo in their pomp, the player Brazilians felt strongly about starting was Romario. He was the people's striker, massive uproar every time he got dropped, etc. It was the ongoing soap opera with various managers, and particularly pre-1998. To this day some believe he wasn't injured and it was an elegant way for Zagallo to break up Ro-Ro. If so, he is a cnut, because he would have been handy to have around in that final instead of Ronaldo.

I remember that well. Romario got injured a couple of weeks before the tournament, was ruled out for 3-4 weeks. I was surprised they didn't take him because he'd surely have been back for the business end of the tournament and would've undoubtedly started in the final given Ronaldo's problems. And he was in fine form then for Brazil with strong performances in Le Tournoi, the Copa and the Confederations Cup during the previous 12 months.

Reason I wailed over having picked two keepers is my sub option otherwsie was Elkjaer
Yeah, I was keen to partner Michael with Preben and Brian. But that was a bit too romantic. Would've taken Brian had I not run out of Europeans come the 12th pick, given his brilliance in '98 and telepathic understanding with Michael.

It's beautiful how you twist the story of each player around until it suits your theme, anto, that alone is worth the whole thing . I'm sure you would have found a reason to call Matthäus an underdog as well (probably because he had to play a final without his favorite shoes or something like that).

Nope, that's why I said it felt dirty to pick him. There's not even the tiniest element of underdog in him.

Theon need not worry as his bigger names will drive it home, but it would indeed be a classic and certainly look forward to it.

This is exactly what I signed up for!

Shame, there was a pick I considered instead of Cannavaro who would have been better for this game but I thought "that only works if I get Theon" :(
