That 12th pick, must still be from a different country?

Dilemma... Neuer & a sub, or Kroos and some random keeper?

Kroos and a random keeper. Look at that midfield three, the two in CM are brilliant individuals but you lack a bit of flair there, which I assume you expect Kagawa to provide but have no idea where his stock will be come may. Do yourself a favour and get Kroos.

Crappy was keen on Gotze but if you asked me it was Muller or Kroos I would have wanted. Once the midfield was sorted as planned Gotze was a clearer option though. I really was arguing for taking either Muller or Kroos if still available next round so I would have scuppered your plans at the death

I read the rules... :smirk:

It was pretty clear it was a risk to let the draw go back to Pol (the only one who didn't have a German at that time), guess I really should have picked him ahead of Kagawa back then... Muller instead of Nani makes things look much better...

I guess you don't rate Gotze that much. Picking him at round 7 was way too enticing for me. I actually thought he would be gone by round 2/3 max.

He is already showing at Bayern that he has more talent any of the players there. He is someone who can make the difference for them in later stages of CL in difficult ties (see his goal against Dortmund). Muller may be a more effective player but Gotze has that some extra about him.

I love my front 4, exactly what I wanted.

Ribery ------Gotze--------Januzaj

I am off to bed. Anto knows my next pick. Actually we can post it now it self but let it be.

Crappy, I do rate him and told you to go for it at that stage.

Early on though I was more worried at the lack of depth/options in CM. Once Moutinho-Strootman came through unscathed he was our clear choice, but not before. We wanted someone for that CAM role and I reckon he is better than Muller for it. Muller's major upside though is the ease with which you can adapt by redeploying him, which is why I wanted him as Gotze's sub/alternative before I realised it's not a goer.

Leave it, it gets messy when people start posting stuff in advance. Yes, no one will pick him, but you are basically telling them what you are picking which removes uncertainties on what we may pick before they get their next turn. Boring. :D

It's awesome, fecking awesome.

I think it's fair to say we didn't miss on an expected recruitment. The only bummer was Vidal not lasting but he wasn't likely to, and maybe we should have gone for Javi ahead of Dante with hindsight but it felt and was the right approach at the time to keep Spain open.

Sort of yes. Him and Peluso as a left wing back in a 5-3-2 formation. I don't know how they play in the league but he's now been a proper left back in the CL at least as a part of 4-man defense. I don't mind him there. He's a good pick there. I rate him. Not many good left backs in the world. He's near the top. Basically every left back in this draft is a top 10 left back.

Pol picks Tim Howard

Thank you Cal

Also, if I am clear with the rules, I can't pick any one of my 11 nationalities as a sub, right?

Yes, that's right

Fergus has already picked an Italian, and an Argentine. So Buffon and Garay please.

I'd get Kroos and start him before Kagawa, if you win and can reinforce with another German (Reus, Goetze, Bastian, Hummels would all be good in your team) then you can bring Kagawa back in to accommodate him.

@ Pol, the op doesn't specify how many reinforcements we can pick after the first round (the common pool of eliminated players)...?

I think people quickly identified that full backs could be a banana skin, and had an appropriate plan in place to get the right ones.

Bang on the money those two

Glad to hear that! Had a 3 man shortlist left regarding the cb position and ended up with my first choice.

Ha ha, so all three of our alternative keepers are gone... Was telling crappy earlier today some numpty would say Howard is bound to drop a clanger, but i'm buggered if i know when he last did that. Good picks.

Theon  so obvious! Quite odd how long it took for that relative to Iniesta.

We've discussed the sub option with crappy at length but had the uncertainty over Fergus' picks so didn't settle for anyone. I know which I would pick to give us flexibility going forward but he calls the shots here.

wasn't it four or did I make that up?

How does the secondary draft work?

All eliminated players go to a pool and pick from it in inverse order to here, i.e. Start with cal?

I know, you prefer zero reinforcements or minimum ones. It's a muppets game though, you need your fix of wheeling and dealing.

Better this way than picking just from your opposition imo.

One question regarding that. Are you sure people will be able to pick a team of 16 players?
6 countries have 1 representative in the draft.
3 countries have 2.
22 countries in total have been picked.

I see a problem where some won't be able to fill their squad.

Oh absolutely, it was a good tweak by Pol a few drafts ago.

It's a fair point Snow but tbh, you never use subs much once you upgrade so it's no biggie. Don't think about it as four reinforcements but four picks, whether they add to the squad or upgrade an existing player.

I haven't looked much into the mechanics this time around, but there is indeed a possibility that four is too much and bails bad planning through multiple picks. Dunno, we'll see. I'm game.
