Fantasy Premier League 22/23

Ramsdale (or another £5m goalie) and TAA

vs

Ederson (or Alisson) and Robertson

I prefer option 2?

(* TAA only got c20 more than Robertson last season.

Alisson got c40 more than Ramsdale last season and c30 more than any of the £5m goalies.)

Definitely number 1. Ederson never gets bonus points and rarely gets save points.

I think with Ramsdale fixtures, he could haul a few times.

TAA is better than Robertson and less prone to the odd rotation too.

Ta, the point re saves and bps make sense I guess. Just a feeling and points from last season suggest tight.

TAA did play more than Robertson though if he doesn’t this season, that stat works other way? Because TAA only got 20 more points last season despite playing 200-300 more minutes. And still wondering about the twa Robertson/Diaz linkup.

I just think that TAA and the set pieces is more reliable, not to mention the ownership. I want them both in my team, but if I had to choose one, it would be TAA. I don’t think 4 months is a big enough time frame to declare he will keep pace this season.

Over the season, Ederson will win over Ramsdale, but Arsenals fixtures are so good at the start (and they will still concede enough chances to give you save points)

Edersons chances of any return end as soon as a goal goes in, so I think over the first 6 weeks, Ramsdale could well be better.

Interesting I am quite open to most keepers, but the one I am sure I will not get is Ederson. I rather have Lloris if spending that money and Allison if I have a Pool spot free.

I will get Cancelo for sure. I still think he is the most nailed outfield player for City and the one with highest ability from the defenders.

I spent too much tinkering and now have 3 very different options
Keen to hear the thoughts of the FPL gurus in this thread. I dont want to spend too long on this anymore, its distracting! Just can't decide whether to go very safe or go bullish and trust attackers over defenders essentially.

My punt for this season is general, is that there will be a lot more goals from focal points in attack (Jesus/Haaland/Nunez) and that might be a missed trick if we continue to focus on the big defender hauls. Could be wrong though, I generally suck at FPL but really keen on hearing feedback on the below 3 drafts.

1. Safe as houses? 5 at the back

- 0.5m left in the bank.
- I think this is the safest approach to make a solid start. Big at the back with all the 3 "premium" defenders + Ederson on top.
- Perisic I guess is a risk.
- Covered with a lot of safe picks generally Salah/Jesus/Kane. Not a lot of differentials here?

2. 442

- A similar iteration to the first draft but moving out Robertson + Ederson and bringing in Diaz + Ramsdale.
- Not much more to say about this one I guess. I Think this or the first draft can be very safe, just feels like this is a bit more focused on attack which I like. Although Robertson + Ederson are historically great bankers for points.

3. No Salah? Mental stuff!

- This one is my favourite :wenger: as it seems balanced.
- No Chelsea defenders as they look rocky and Tuchel seems to be tinkering 4 at the back, which may stunt the fullbacks.
- I know there's no Salah but tried to cover with Diaz + Nunez. I can drop Nunez for Jesus/Martial and beef up the defence if needed.
- Darwin hauling early and no Salah is a a double punt, but keen to hear thoughts around this general move (i.e. even if I took Darwin out for Jesus and upgraded a midfielder/defender).
- Dalot ready to come on in case Perisic or Walker don't start is decent cover?
- Big question is whether I'd really miss Salah with this set up!

I love that 3rd team. No weaknesses.

Ramsdale
TAA Cancelo Dalot
Salah Saint Max Matertinelli Neto
Kane Greenwood Haaland

Sanchez mings n.williams Andreas

Thoughts?

------------------Mendy
TAA--Cancelo--Trippier--Dalot--White
------------------Salah---Bailley
--------Jesus------Haaland----Kane

Bench:

In two minds about which team to go for. Think having 4 full-backs might be overkill, especially with the 5 sub-rule. Leaning towards Team 1

If Jesus blanks the first 3-4 games (which any striker playing for Arteta can do), how far do you think his price can drop? He's 8m with 65% ownership atm.

Genuine question, why are so many picking 5 at the back?

A lot of people see value in attacking wing backs from the top teams with good defenses. Goals , assists, bonus points, plus clean sheets. You are spending between 5 and 7.5 for these defenders and there are few midfielders and forwards in that price range who will score as many points.

Yeah, it’s just comparing the points that those defenders got per game last year with the points that 8 mil midfielders got.

For the most part, you are getting more points for spending less money as these players can contributes with assists, while also getting their clean sheet points.

Most of the £6m and above defenders have/will get you a good return.… unless v unlucky, probably 130-240.

You might get 130-190 with the mid priced midfielders (especially if you’re lucky and pick the right one… like Bowen last season) but you could also see player rotated and get 100-130.

It’s more about the (relative) certainty the top defenders get and point per £m.

Just value basically and points per million. Can't find the stats for last season but fairly sure that defenders featured highly in the player of the week tally and overall points after the premium mids in Salah and Son.

Basically Robertson and Trent look a good bet for 200 points every season and you can't find another player in midfield or attack who can offer the same at their price points.

Of course the skill in the game is picking players on streaks in those prices points or less and jumping on and off throughout the season.

Raheem Sterling ends up as this season's Heung Min Son. Underpriced midfield goal machine.
I agree. He’s suddenly become a serious contender for my team.

Im actually rethinking my strategy again.. I might go 5 at the back after all.. I see good defenders outscoring players like Martinelli/Bailey/Neto and maybe even Rashford over the course of a season.. so it’s better to pick 2 solid mids like sterling/Dias or sterling/Salah and sacrifice Kane/Haaland in the second scenario..

Very surprised more people aren’t putting Cucurella in their squads.
£5m now (cheaper than Perisic) and he will be a guaranteed starter for City whilst at the moment still tagged as a Brighton player

4.5 (4.0)
TAA Robertson Cancelo James Trippier
Salah Saka Sancho Neto (Pereira)
Kane (4.5 4.5)

This week draft.

12/15 I’m pretty sure are locked in, the choice is between
James, White & Bailey VS Trippier, Zinchenko & Neto

I have James, White and Bailey ATM but I do like 2nd one a lot.

Curious, what happens if you owe 3 x City now + Cucurella and he moves.

then you have 4 - will you then be forced to sub one out, when you try to do transfers? (Max limit 3 warning will probably appear, no?)

Yes, when you make a transfer it will have to be a City player.

the latest is Brighton have ended negotiations due to City not paying what they want.

Seems like that move isn't happening.

Walker at 5m is back on the table, bit meh because he mainly plays as 3rd CB but for the initial run, you take the CS points and run and get the more attractive/fun 5m option on first WC.

I can see City carrying on after season starts. Transfer window a few weeks into season?

After they manage to sell hardly used players like Ferran Torres for 55m (nothing dodgy there at all your honour), they can cough up at least that for cucurella. But I hope he stays.
