Fantasy Premier League 22/23

This is bad, teams are already so similar. I think they have really messed up with the pricing of the defenders.

I am going to double on Arsenal. Saka and Jesus. Double on Arsenal.......what a crazy time to be alive

Martinelli and Jesus for me and I feel certain about that now. Rashford may replace Martinelli, but I like the rest of my team with those 0.5 extra.

Martinelli almost played full game and he will start.

Fine with the Arsenal double up but given their first two fixtures (Palace & Leicester) are worse than the next two (Bournmouth and Fulham) there might need to be a bit of patience.

I think you basically decide you'll keep them for that four week block even if they blank against Palace or whatever.

Saka scored a pen with both Jesus and Martinelli on the pitch.
Jesus hat trick, that will cement him as the highest owned played.

I like Saka too but looks like Arteta might play him wingback this year. Interesting formation today. He might not be nailed as a forward.

Big shame to see so many of the same template teams. They've clearly buggered it somehow. Doesn't help that my private league are sharing their fecking teams in the group chat already.

With that in mind, think I'm going with this;

Sanchez
TAA - Dias - van Dijk - Trippier - Dalot
Salah - Sterling - Martinelli
Haaland - Jesus

They messed up the defenders pricing. They needed to force some of the decisions. Trent 8.5, Cancelo 8.0 etc…

Lots of people with 9-10 quality players from the very top teams.

I think I’m moving away from Rashford. He has been in my team since the start but i haven’t seen enough from preseason from his end to warrant a place in my side.

I think I might have finally decided on a team I am happy with. Enough variation where I am happy it’s not too template. Risky, but I think there are enough guaranteed points there to start with.

Who is everyone’s punt pick? Any variance on Neto?

Bailey is going to be mine. Came in with pedigree from Bundesliga, was linked to the top sides, and he just seems to quick and explosive in pre-season. There is a player in there!

Who are others going to risk?

I'm deciding between both of these...
Mahrez on paper should be nailed, he's the only proper right sided player in attack. Foden or KDB can play there but won't be as natural as Mahrez so there shouldn't be any reason to not play him.

Which only means Pep starts him in 1 out of next 6 games.

Neto, Walker and Martinelli in mine that look like punts. I'm thinking we have a blind spot with Martinelli due to his price. Throughout last season he looked like the furthest forward, breaking on counter and what not and was still pretty cheap. But at the end of the day, he doesn't get enough output so we all got his blanks. Same thing again today, Arsenal score loads but he gets a random assist at best. In the end, you need actual end product to be a good FPL asset. Either he needs to improve his finishing and goalscoring or else people will want to move on from him, and there's sweet feckall to move to from that price.

Kinda makes me wanna grab another 8m dude (Saka making it Jesus + Saka) and reduce in defense. Looks lesser value on paper but better flexibility. Having both Neto and Martinelli is quite risky and could ask for a quick surgery to that midfield.

I think Martinelli is too good at that price not to start with. He is very young and always looks so lively and dangerous when I watch Arsenal. I think he will take another leap forward this season. My brother and other supporters I know are so high on him as a player too.

For 2 million less than his mates, he could well be just as much amongst the goals, but I do agree that he missed out too many times last season. He is a no brainer for me though t start, with those fixtures. Very little chance he underperforms a 6 mil price point early on.

I think if there were ever a season to start with an inflexible set up, it’s this one. At worst, you hit your wildcard 3-4 weeks early.

That's the thing, he was mr. xLively last season as well. I care about goals and assists. His competition Smith Rowe used to come on for like 5 minutes and get a goal while this guy was running around for 75 odd minutes without a return.

I would have been more comfortable if he had at least one goal - with him being more of a forward - in a 6-0 drubbing. Even fecking Nketiah got one.

Got a draft with TAA, Cancelo, Salah, KdB, Kane and Haaland.. and five ok players (good goalie, two ok defenders, two average MFers).

so tempting…

Not possible. Even if you go for a 4.5m GK as your starter and fill out every other spot with the cheapest player possible that will still leave you 1.0m short.

Realistically what can you expect from a 6M midfielder? Probably a goal or two every 5-6 games?

I think he'll provide way more than a regular 6M player like Neto.

He does have a few assists already in pre-season to be fair. I will have to watch the highlights of the game today. I am still not convinced you would get 2 million mores worth of value out of Saka.

Yeah, not saying he needs to be a goal a game player, but then I also don't need to have someone whos gonna blank more often than not. I can get a 5.5-6m defender with better probability of return.

I'm not sure about Neto. He has injury issues, but if fit he's playing like their main goalscorer, whereas at Arsenal the likes of Jesus and Saka are primary goalscorers. So it isn't impossible that Neto for the opening run returns more.

Issue is I currently have both, and I think we should have max one of them.

Nothing has changed my mind only thing is I feel Walker may be transfered into my team in gameweek 2 if I fear Pep roulette for Mahrez etc.

I think Salah look deadly so he is my captain for sure.

I've got Kane and Son and could do with getting rid of 1, but I think Halaand could take some time to really click and not many other options at striker, without dropping down several levels

Haaland often start well. I think Spurs can come out flying too, but also have games when they struggle and Chelsea is the perfect team to stop them.
