AM chip for GR 24-26
  1. Slot [ Bou (a), Eve (a), Wol (H)] or
  2. Moyes [ Lei (H), Liv (H), Cry (A)]
Regardless of whom I chose, GW26 I plan to transfer way from Slot (who plays city) and Moyes (who plays United) to probably a Frank who plays LEI or Amorim who plays EVE

Don’t get sucked into this Everton trap mate!

Crappy 46 for me but no massive damage done as all the captains flopped.

As I said I'm rolling for an extra transfer in the double. Just undecided on which defender to bench this week from Robinson (vs United home), Kerkez (vs Forest home) and Milenkovic (vs Bournemouth away)...

Currently on

Verbruggen
Hall Robinson Kerkez
Amad Salah (c) Palmer Rogers
Isak (vc) Haaland Wood

Fab Milenkovic Enzo Greaves

That's the way I would go (said as he looks longingly at Kerkez on his bench).

Just saw Forest put a bid in for Wissa. It'll probably get rejected, but that would be an interesting one.

Will Lewis Hall keep his place for left-back when all defenders are back fit?
With Schar and Botman back, I see Howe using both Burn and Hall on LB depending on the fixture.
With his current form, I think he will start more often than not, but surely he'll lose some playing time?

Hall (Burn) - Schar - Botman - Livramento

I wouldn't worry about Hall, he's earned his spot no reason to drop him.

I can't see it but if Hall ends up getting benched for Burn then he'll be straight back out of my team with a handy £0.4m profit to spend elsewhere. I got him at £4.3m and also had him at the start of the season. Was ahead of the curve on that one.

Hall is the only reason I've kept pace with my leagues, I got him in as soon as his great run of points started. But Newcastle fixtures turn bad in the near future so would be a perfect time to drop off him soon if needed. He'll be one of the casualties as I dead end my team from next week and into GW29 (unless Arsenal beat them in the Carabao semi).

Good point. Just checked the fixtures and after this week Fulham (H), City (A), Forest (H), Liverpool (A) doesn't exactly scream clean sheets. Could bring in a Liverpool defender for the double (along with Gakpo for Haaland) if I decide against using Ass Man.

You listen to FML FPL?

Nah can't be bothered with any of that. I just waffle about it on here and occasionally on Reddit.
Ah yeah I'm normally the same, don't listen to any YouTube creators etc but FML FPL pod is great. They're not experts and they don't pretend to be. They spend the podcast talking about all their feck ups each week and that makes me feel better.

Anyone have a good chip strategy with this stupid assistant manager chip? Have all chips left.

It’s a head feck with it lasting 3 weeks plus being able to switch managers and the whole extra points if 5 places below thing. Could put loads of effort in to planning it just for it to fall flat anyway.

The obvious strat is Slot for Liverpool’s upcoming double, but not convinced it’s the best when there’s team like United, Spurs etc low in the table which could lead to loads of extra points, but there’s also obviously a reason we’re that low.

Could also of course TC Salah for this instead.

United is a decent risk - assuming we don't stay as crap as we are.
Means you don't have to lose one of your Liverpool players too (think i'm right that you still only can have 3 per team - as i've not spent much time looking at this one yet).

This has a few ideas. I think it does anyway. The assistant manager stuff is maybe like a third of the way down. It doesn't look exhaustive, but it's got some suggestions for chip strategy.

Also, what is dead ending?

I’ve only got two Liverpool players anyway (TAA and Salah) and will probably leave it at that for the double as most others are only half decent at best and a rotation risk (ie Gakpo). Might end up bringing Virgil in if I don’t use AM though.

Will have a look, cheers.

Dead ending is using free transfers in the run up to a blank or double gameweek with a view to the team being ideal for that, then wildcarding out of it so your team isn’t naff afterwards.

Might be worth doing the manager chip on slot now Ipswich + double game week, Liverpool should win at least 2 out of 3. I still have triple captain and might save it for later and do the manager chip instead.

Ah just realised you can't use it until GW 24,which is random. Still decent with the double + wolves.

I’m thinking about this too. Want to get AM chip out of the way and bet on a stronger horse rather than taking a risk as I’m leading my ML. Don’t want to do anything drastic. I always prefer to keep my TC for late in the season if I’m leading the pack

I'm wondering if it might be more valuable later when a team just coming into form gets a double.

Go Slot now and you have a maximum win bonus of 24 points. Go for a lower-down giant-killer or two your maximum win bonus becomes 64. There's obviously CS and goal bonuses too, but Liverpool are unlikely to make up anything like that difference.

The worry is that everyone plays it early and then I panic when I slide down the table. But that doesn't feel like a great reason to play it - I should just not panic instead.

Is there a setpiece coach chip?

You know you can change it right? So you can go Slot for the double and hopefully 2 wins (with Everton getting a pasting) and then gamble in weeks 25 and 26 on someone else for the bonus.

Just looking at 25, Brighton v Chelsea or Fulham v Forest look like a good shout for the bonus.

True, but thinking specifically of the DGW, I feel I'm better off just getting Gakpo/Diaz/Konate and having a Liverpool triple. The extra player could likely get me the points Slot would have got from winning anyway, or at least a lot of them.

Apparently these are the projected doubles for GW33:

Aston VillaVs NEW(H), LIV(H)
BournemouthVs CRY(A), MUN(H)
Crystal PalaceVs BOU(H), NEW(A)
LiverpoolVs LEI(A), AVL(A)
Manchester UnitedVs WOL(H), BOU(A)
Newcastle UnitedVs AVL(A), CRY(H)

Us, Palace, and maybe Villa if Liverpool are on holiday mode, all look really appealing for sneaking in a table bonus win during the double. Palace could even do it twice.

Spurs have Southampton and Wolves leading into it, so could see what they're like by then. If Villa finally find it in them to play well at some point this season, Emery has Forest, Southampton, and then the DGW - no transfers needed. Or you could take the manager on GW33 and play it by ear after, but 34 is a blank so you're probably gonna want your wildcard or free hit then.

None of this is set of course, but there are enough attractive possibilities for me to wonder if the chip on GW24 is a bit of a test of our patience.

My only concern with this is that majority of the team barring Liverpool or Forest or Arsenal have been largely inconsistent. So they might win one game and then end up losing the next 2. That risk/reward ratio is too high for me than a safe 24 points for now

Forest, Liverpool and Newcastle aren't exactly the kind of fixtures I'd be targetting Villa with to be honest, but agree with the overall sentiment of your post yeah.

I'm the opposite and want to get it out of the way so that it doesn't hinder other chips later on, but I'm on Gakpo/TAA/Salah at the moment with Ipswich and the double coming up, so not sure it's worth it to waste a transfer on Gakpo just to get Slot in.

That's a brilliant page for those looking for a strategy. Sums it up really well.

True, definitely not right now.

Have you played your TC? I think if I still had that (gw2'd it) I'd definitely be playing that now instead, along with the Liverpool triple. I definitely understand the impulse to not have the AM chip hanging though.

Yeah I did TC on Haaland in GW2.

Think I'm gonna go FH in 29, WC in 30, BB in 33 and Pep AM in GW35-37, so basically strategy 4 of the link you posted above.

Think where you are in your league is what it comes down to. I’m top of the table in my work league where we play for money so it feels more sensible to play it in 24 on the Liverpool double and then Liverpool against Wolves and then go for somebody different in 26. Liverpool more likely for clean sheets than a lot of other teams and capable of scoring plenty of goals. It wouldn’t surprise you if they put 4 past Everton for example and kept a clean sheet, 12 points there alone if that happens which feels more likely than gambling on a lower down team beating somebody five places above them. I think I’m just leaning more towards the safer option even though it’s two tougher away games for Liverpool than you would maybe like. Liverpool against Wolves at home feels a brilliant fixture too.

Feel like I want to get it out of the way now too so that I can focus on the other chips over the last 10 or so weeks. If you aren’t using it next week then it surely has to be TC.

Think im looking at AM next week from 24 with Slot for three straight and then weigh up 26. Save transfers for the blank in 29 to make 4-5 changes. Wildcard out of that in 30 and then focus on TC and free hit for the final DGWs and blanks once we have a better picture of them. Bench boost can fall anywhere in the final 7 weeks.

I don't think the assman chip is best suited for the upcoming Liverpool double.

They're play two away games.
Everton are pony but it's a local derby and also the last at Goodison park so they're gonna be on steroids.
Bournemouth are a tough opponent for any team.
Liverpool could easily drop points in either of these two matches and if you're not going for the table bonus then even one draw in either of these two matches will mean the usage isn't great.
Better off tripling up on Liverpool and using TC in my opinion and save assman chip for later. My week of choice is GW36 when things go crazy and those lower teams have something to play for against mid table teams who are on the beach.

Sounds like you're in the same situation as me and still have all your chips. I'm still 50/50 on AM in 24 or TC and yes, absolutely one of them has to be played that game week.

My main rival in my cash league has played TC earlier in the season so I do feel like I'm swaying more on the side of AM as I reckon he'll go for it then and I fully agree that the 3 Liverpool games (Bournemouth, Everton, Wolves) have a decent baseline to set you up nicely for a GW26 punt for the bonus.

Alternative is either Konate this week (not sure who I would take out though from Hall, Robinson, Milenkovic, Kerkez) and Gakpo for Haaland in 24 or Gakpo for Haaland in 24 and whoever I want as my 3rd Liverpool player with TC on Salah.

At the moment I'm kicking the can down the road on making any decision.

It's possible that City end up eligible for the table bonus against Liverpool.

Actually I wouldn't have the funds for that as selling Haaland frees up the AM money.

Speaking of which how do you get the money back into your squad after you've played it? I'm guessing that the chip disappears and the money just goes straight back into your transfer kitty?

Which one to bench?

Timber (Wolves away)
Hall (Southampton away)
Sarr (Brentford home)
Rogers (West Ham home)

Leaning towards Rogers or Timber...
