Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

This was right after the game but he was subbed cause of it:
on Gabriel’s fitness:
We don’t know because he said he was feeling some discomfort. I was about to make the change of [Raheem Sterling] but I couldn’t make the sub and we had to make other ones.

Might jar me into taking a -4 this week. Not sure. Already used my FT to spend a chunk of the cash I was sitting on with Johnson > Saka.

Been going on about doubling up on Arsenal at the back for a while now in this thread as a long-term move. I still like them at the back even though they haven't delivered quite what me might expect.

Got Gabriel, and my thoughts were centred around bringing in either Timber alongisde him, or to replace my goalie (Sanchez) with Raya at some point in the near future.

Had a bit of an epiphany - why not go with Timber & Raya? That was even before considering Gabriel might be injured. Would be banking 0.6m for making the Gabriel > Timber move, Sanchez > Raya is 0.9m. I think that's a decent switch around for 0.3m total cost at current prices even if I lost a bit of Gabriel's goal threat in the process and is the cheapest way to end up on double Arsenal.

Timber not much of an attacking threat although he did get a CL assist last night and I think he had a goal disallowed recently in the PL, could maybe get bits and pieces from him at times.

The problem is I have no transfers! Would take a little while to end up there eventually, but maybe if Gabriel is injured, him to Timber even for a hit might be something to do this week to get the ball rolling in that direction.

Not sure taking a hit is the right way to go especially for a defender. I would wait and make the change next week.

It would be potentially worth it if Gabriel is out this weekend and if they keep a clean sheet without him. Much more so if he was out longer than that. Really don't want to be forced into Lewis coming off my bench at Anfield right now.

That's 2 pretty big 'ifs' though, and I hate taking hits! FPL is always full of these tough decisions.

Edit: It would be just my luck if Konate gets injured in the Champions League tonight. Got to wait for press conferences at least even if Arteta is never straightforward.

Obviously Arsenal with some of the better defensive stats anyway, my keenness to double up even more when I saw their 11 v 11 stats. The 3 red cards they've had having a negative overall influence.

Just 0.84 xGA per 90 with 11 players. https://markstats.club/epl-teams-24-25/

Not to put you down more but Konate is also on 4 yellows. Just something to keep an eye on. Your hand might be forced if he gets a yellow.

Konate looked like he got an injury at the final whistle.

 Knew that would happen!

For some reason Liverpool have held their press conference today when they play on Sunday. A few other teams going early too, not just Brighton and Southampton who are playing Friday.

Slot when asked about Bradley and Konate: "They are still being assessed so it's difficult to see where they are. I know where they are haha (joke about where they are located) but in terms of the injury. So lets wait and see. It's never a good sign if players ......Conor I had to take him off and Ibou didn't walk off the pitch as he should after such a fantastic game that he played. He should have made it around and clapped to the fans but unfortunately he couldn't so that's not a good sign"

Potentially starting Lewis, Hall and Greaves (if he's even fit) with the question marks over Gabriel and Konate. :(

I think Gabriel is fine. He was on the bench after coming off.

Looks as if Bruno could be starting deep tonight which surely would weaken him as an asset. Might well be him I trade for Saka, and hang onto Rogers and Semenyo for now.

Why did I buy a United player

Yeah it's not looking good as an fpl asset, I was minded to get rid after the Everton game anyway. I still think the new manager is experimenting so Bruno might be back in the AM position on the weekend.

Hopefully. Think the sideways shuffle from Gabriel > Timber is definitely off for a hit now. Hold fire and pray.

In otther news Haaland is no longer the most owned player. Probably down to third by the deadline and forecast to drop back down to 15m tonight.

I think Amorim is using the first few games to work out best players and for a few (Bruno, Amad, Mount), that might mean one of two positions. Don’t think it means he definitely ends up as a pivot with Ugarte every match.

Yeah, clearly experimenting. But I'd say he looked pretty good there (apart from the one sloppy backpass) without threatening to score or assist for his own team. Decent chance he retains that role at the weekend, especially with all the attackers we seem to want to cram in.

Amorim's just said he sees Bruno as a midfielder and talked him up a bit for his suitability playing deeper and switching play as well.

Haaland to Cunha?
Probably weeks late on this, but City at Anfield is never a great day out, let alone in those form.

It's a fair transfer with the form city is in.

I'm holding on though, as after anfield he has some nice fixtures. Don't want to be taking hits to bring him back in. Plus I don't think it's sustainable for Cunha to keep returning like he has.

Ive not had Haaland all season so the last few weeks have been great but surely it cannot last ?

I'm actually tempted to bring him in soon because he's no doubt going to start hauling huge again.

Probably going with this:

Muric
Young - Gabriel - Ait-Nouri
Saka - Bruno - Palmer - Rogers - Salah
Wood - Cunha
(Fabianksi, Jimenez, Van den Berg, Greaves)

Though VDB against Leicester might come in for Young away to us. Also tempted to get Jackson in for Jimenez now for a second hit, but if he gets a yellow against Villa he'll miss the Southampton game which would be fairly gutting. Salah is down as captain for the moment, although Palmer is surely due one of his monster hauls?

Pinnock, Ait Nouri and Timber starting with Van Hecke on bench. Who should I remove for Van Hecke?

Also, on a wildcard, should I keep Bruno or rose who is the better option? Have Palmer , Saka and Salah with Cunha, Pedro and wood upfront. Gordon to spread my coverage over Newcastle?

I wouldn't be bringing Bruno in at this point, tough fixtures + a worry he will be playing deeper under Amorim.

Højlund, Amad and Maz/Onana will probably be the best picks from MU.

Would think his 2 goals 7 league matches cannot last, agreed. Very likely to improve on that soon based off his past track record and he's still getting the chances plus xG in this leaner run. Form important for jumping on and off players of course.

It's not necesaarilly the full picture I guess. We can say his 12 goals in 12 is still insanely good for a forward. If we somehow re-distributed his goals a bit more evenly across the season so far instead of them being heavily weighted towards the start his form would look better too. What he was doing in the first few weeks was out of this world and unsustainable though. He could very much have been sitting on 12 goals and 84 FPL points still, just achieved in a different order.

If he was in the same place still but got there in that different order there's still the question of how much value is there. Triple everything for very rough predictions at this point in the season and he's on course for 252 FPL points and 36 goals. He scored 36 in his first season too and got 272 points, so maybe that's a bit under as a prediction but it's not far off.

Still, 15m for Haaland while Salah is on course for 360 points and cheaper, Palmer 258 and cheaper too and it's a value question. Restrict it to forwards only and Jackson is on target for 216, Cuhna 225 at their prices.

Will Salah hit 360? Extremely doubtful and this looks unsustainable too, but even if he matches Haaland from now on or only slightly underperforms him he'd better value due to the price difference. Same sort of thing with the other players.

There might well be stretches where Haaland doesn't just outscore everyone else on FPL points, but outscores them by enough to look like value based on form. So hard to predict when that will be, but if you can find them and time the transfer right then it woud be great.

I think Amorim knows that experiment wasn't a success, and with Mainoo likely to nail down a starting spot next to Ugarte, last night was probably the last time we'll see Bruno playing deeper for a little while.

Højlund, Amad and Maz/Onana will probably be the best picks from MU.
Surely not Mazraoui when he's only played CB in both games. Amad is almost a banker to start but you'd assume he'll feature more at RWB. Hojlund is definitely one to watch and could be a great differential if you get ahead of the curve.

Got some serious fomo not having any Brighton attackers for tonight. i daren't touch Wood, Evanilson or Mbeumo this week with the fixtures they've got which means either Johnson out for Mitoma or Haaland out for Welbeck/Pedro. Haaland seems pointless as I'd want him straight back pretty much and Johnson has great stats (much better than Mitoma). Only slight worry with him is minutes now as he was benched last week, although that appeared to be tactical and he came on and scored anyway.

feck knows what to do. :(

Captain for this week? Saka, Palmer or Cunha?

Palmer according to bookmakers (I think). JP with the higher goal projection but with 1 extra point per goal for midfielders it puts him ahead of the forwards. Factor in greater assist potential too.

The thing is, his form is kind of bad isn't it? Salah in that crazy form is hard to ignore. I've been going data driven the past few weeks in all my FPL decisions and I seem to be doing better. Was all set for Palmer because of that and I think I probably will. If he blanks and Salah scores another brace I can't say I didn't see it coming, would only have myself to blame.

I couldn't fault anyone at all for going Salah.

I got Palmer as captain as well but I am super tempted to captain Joao Pedro. The only concern as his minutes but Southampton are piss poor.

The fact that Cunha isn’t even featured makes him a differential. Doing this never works for me but I might give it one last shot and go for a differential captain.

Only just seeing the Konate news. While not saying it explicitly, seemingly hinting he will be out for a while? It's what everyone thinks at least.

"Very disappointed to be injured at the end of a great game, now I will start my recovery programI promise you one thing, I will be back and I will be the best version of myself againThank you for the amazing support at Anfield, God willing we will continue and I will support the team every step of the way."

Yeah that definitely sounds like he will be out for a while. Gomez or Quansah?

Would think Gomez, but I might just hold it for a week and find out for sure or return my obesession with Timber.

Gomez and Quansah played alongisde each other in the Carabao Cup v Brighton at the end of October and Quansah had a stinker. At fault for a goal and subbed off late on to waste time as they were leading narrowly.

Slightly weird thing is that after that, Quansah came on ahead of Gomez in the Champions League v Leverkusen. It was only for 2 minutes and they were winning 4-0.

Since then Gomez came on for 45 minutes in the league v Brighton and for 2 minutes against Real Madrid in the CL. Points to Gomez, imagine the stampede next week if it's Quansah!

Surely we're not all getting sucked back onto the Pedro doom train again?!

Bring him in, gets a knock, might be back soon, isn't then out for 6 weeks is the usual isn't it?

Sod it, leaving Haaland, as even v Tottenham he could have scored 3 or 4!

Cunhy in though.
