Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

If pool are DGWing 25 too, worth playing the AM chip for slot in 25? I just used TC on mo so using another chip so soon feels a little wrong...

Depends if there's any chance of 5 games over 3 game weeks later on to really max it.

That’s what I am debating right now but they do have City in GW26 and Newcastle in GW27 as it stands

I'm fuming as I made a mistake before I went on holiday thinking the double game week was last week for triple captaining Salah. Ugh.

Yeah, tricky one. I could see them spanking Newcastle but city could be tricky, depending on which city show up.

You can change it, provided you have a transfer or are willing to take a hit. So, as the next poster said ... "That’s what I am debating right now but they do have City in GW26 and Newcastle in GW27 as it stands." You can transfer. So, in 25 you'd get the 'Pool fixtures, in 26 you could change from Slot to Arteta at home vs. West Ham (that's your FT for the week), or you can chase a bonus match. Then in 27 you could have Maresca (Chelsea) v. Southampton at home or Amorim (Man Utd) at home vs Ipswich (that's your FT for the week). You might suffer if you don't have transfers saved up and you'll be taking hits if you want to move players around.

Fair point. Completely forgot you could do that

Really helpful post, thanks buddy.

Yeah, AM'd in 24, and I'll really have decisions to make:

1) If 'Pool win and Arsenal beat Newcastle in the Cup, I could switch to Arteta - and go 3 'Pool in the double (I have 2 'Pool players). I have no Arsenal players. This might be my preference because I could then have 3 'Pool players in the double and then have Arteta to cover all the Arsenal players I don't have. This is the real power of the double/double with AM in my opinion. If I could get VVD/Salah/Gakpo for a 'Pool double and then Arsenal win both games with a clean sheet...
2) If 'Pool win and Arsenal beat Newcastle in the Cup, I could stick with Slot - and start taking hits to bring in Arse/Chelsea players for the double (I prefer above...).
3) If Arsenal beat Newcastle I could also go for Fulham (Silva) or Maresca to chase a bonus. I think Fulham has one. Not going to do it.
4) If Arsenal don't win and 'Pool does ... I could go for Emery next to chase a bonus match (not gonna happen, I'll stick with Slot)
5) If Spurs win and Arsenal win - I'm definitely going Arteta next week.
6) If Spurs win and Arsenal lose - Christ. I'll have to choose between Silva and Postecoglu next week.

This chip can do our heads in.

Of course Mbeumo is doing jackshit in a week where I need him to score at least 2
Think most made the Gordon to Mbeumo move so in that sense all isn't loss, Spurs have been pretty shite so it was a reasonable decision to bring him in.

Mateta and those without Wood are going to be the rank killers this week...

Time to ship out KDB and Gordon. Shouldn’t be worrying about price change now. Wait for those FA cup games , carabao semi finals to see who’s fit and who gets the double. 2 FT and big decisions in the next 2 weeks.

Who do you think you'll bring in? I want to get Semenyo in for Morgan Rogers but probably need a proper player for Gordon

Both my 'keepers on the bench in Chelsea v West Ham. It will be 0-0 now.

DGW for Villa if things go right isn't it?

Gordon out, Rashford in. You know he's down for a fast start. Typical stuff.

Just me that assumed the Liverpool - Everton game was this week?

I've got 4 free transfers so will sit tight for a week and make a move on the AM / other transfers as needed.

Oooooh, I am so doing this. Thanks for the heads up.

Will free up money for me to get Mateta in for Pedro as well

Thursday is the 2nd Carabao cup semis. By Friday we will surely have the DGW announcements. Really hoping Liverpool reach the final and we get Pool and Villa doubles giving me 3 players and 1 AM doubling again in GW25. Might be tempted to get Rashford in too

I stress so much about Fantasy League i'm thinking of taking a break this year! Anyone ever done that and felt better?
I started with the original Cafe crew here when the league was on yahoo. After playing for ten years, I chose to take a break because my life just got too busy. I rejoined three or four years after taking about ten years off. I'm much more relaxed about it now. I'm in the 600 K's and happy with where I'm at with it being my best year.
This season I wasn't going to join any leages, but I caved and joined the Caf Leage and Raptor FPL League, as well. My theory has been that the mini leagues were stressing me out, too much. Being that it's the 2nd have of the season, I don't mind joining. No matter what happens now, I'm pleased with how I've done

If it stresses you out then absolutely take a break. Then game is meant to be fun and if that's not what you're having then stepping away would be good for you. You might find that you prefer not playing or you'll find that you miss it.

It's stressed me out the last few weeks, that's for sure!

Only second season playing but I started putting a lot of time into it, and my results sky-rocketed. Starting thinking I might actually be good and that all the studying of stats and whatnot was paying off. Became a bit obsessive about it there.

Now I'm on my 7th red arrow in a row. From 3k OR to 249k. First 3 or 4 weeks of this run bothered me and I was confused as to what was going on. Surely I can't be falling off this much when I'm still putting in all this effort into it?Felt a certain pressure to keep up all the studying and maintain a good rank.

Last 2 or 3 weeks I've concluded the good run was a fluke and there's so much variance in it all anyway. Might be a cope but I'm not so stressed anymore.

I'm blaming Saka, since his injury everything went wrong.

I’ve got two top 2k OR finishes to my name a few more around 10k-40k OR so I consider myself quite “good” in this game, but it’s only very recently that I learned not to get mad over bleeding rank from a high position - as you say, you start questioning your choices but the truth is you can play “perfect” but with 10M competitors and inherently random nature of the game the variance will always be huge. So I don’t despair over falling from top 30k to top 300k in no time this season, I’m happy I’m still consistently winning a couple of leagues with friends, but I really fecking wish I manage to nick the Caf league win once!

As somebody currently in the top 1k (while being a filthy casual)... the game is honestly at least 95% dumb luck. Nobody on earth should stress about it like some of you guys in this thread!

Right.... Where's the police when you need 'em? @Dirty Schwein

Yeah, little things making me realise that in a way. You do get people who consistently do very well, but I'm running with the luck theory for now, it's better not to stress anyway!

Had Wissa and Mbeumo racking up the xG/xA this week and both blanking when other times they may have both got returns, possibly 3 or 4 between them on a very lucky week. Other players got returns off a lot less.

Little things like that, or me buying Bruno when Saka got injured. He then gets sent off immediately v Wolves so I switch to Son who was only ever supposed to be a 2 week stopgap as he had Wolves and Newcastle both at home. He then misses a pen v Wolves and gets dropped.

Can't account for stuff like that. Or even though I didn't have him, United's goal from Martinez v Fulham. Glad it happend, but from an FPL perspective where's that going if not for that deflection? No idea.

Yes, I'm chilled out about it all now. This drop off has taught me a good lesson to not worry about it all so much.
