Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

That's literally the only reason I've still got him in

Either way he's probably out in the next couple of weeks in my quest to stack the midfield with premiums while somehow keeping Haaland.

Aye I’m thinking the same, with defences being pretty shit this season I’m considering just loading up on budget defenders and going all out on midfield and attack. I’ll probably keep one premium defender in there but that’s it.

Might change from my Arsenal defence or use a chip soon (Haven't used any yet). Raya and Saliba haven't been great in recent weeks.
I’m getting rid of them.

I’d rather gamble on some £4.5ms and rotate now than spend so much on a defence that isn’t looking solid.

Not me, I don't think. Like you say he's bound to explode again. The time to get rid already passed - he was never gonna sustain 2 goals every game for that long in hindsight.

KDB will probably be back after the internationals and Foden will find form&fitness soon too, so if anything, I'm more thinking about when's a good time to get a City creator in on top of Haaland.

Interesting. Yeah I'm thinking of getting Foden in but I want to see him get a return first. I haven't watched him and I don't know how sharp he is.
I might in the very near future, and I think quite a few have done it this week.

If I do I'm not sure how to play it though. I'm big at the back, and the teams I've seen that have recently gone no Haaland that most impress me have cheap defenders with a ridiculous midfield.

I can't do that with no WC. It's tricky to because non-premium middies were on fire in the early weeks, still doing well now. Now everyone's loving the non-premium forwards. Wouldn't know where to focus the most. Either way I'm trying to build up a few free transfers before deciding. It's just one of a number of ways to go, I'm looking at a mini overhaul in week 12 come what may. Just letting things tick on until then.

Yeah he's down to 73% ownership now which I think might be a 10% drop.

The difficulty for me is that I don't know how long this Wellbeck purple is going to go and Wood has a raft of difficult fixtures coming up. I already had Twatkins, and Isak has been shit.

Left it all alone this week.
Just Saliba from this game, but wasn't necessarily expecting much.

See how triple City v Bournemouth goes. Usually that should be a hatful of points, but they don't look at all right recently and have more and more out by the week. They'll probably win 1-0 with someone like Ake scoring

Looks good!

The midfield is sexy as anything and you've managed to do it while still having Haaland.

Defence is cheap but a lot of upsides there. City's defence not been great by their own standards and fixtures arent't amazing for them. At the end of the day Lewis is a nicely priced option to buy into them. He's looking more and more nailed and Guardiola said this week that he's the only player he can't rotate as they're picking up injuries. Hopefully that statement wasn't Arteta-style deception.

City arguably been unlucky with their clean sheets on a very basic level. Would have to look at it at a more granular level to confirm anything, but they've conceded the second least xG in the league as per FBref, but only kept 2 cleanies. So of the 6 clubs who have kept more cleanies, 5 have worse xG against. Doesn't quite work like that as it depends on how the xG is distributed, conceding 1 xG for 2 games in a row is very different to conceding 1.5 followed by a 0.5. The second one much more likely to to result in a clean sheet. Might actually do some nerdy number crunching about that exact topic if I ever have the time or feel inspired enough to do it.

Ait-Nouri a really popular pick right now, has the fixtures even if they've been as leaky as a sieve against stronger opponents so far. He's very much producing as an attacking threat.

Dalot not the best game this week but a very nice mini run of 3 games after that.

Budget strikers doing well so far and the 2 you have there are part of that. Guess you could switch them around a bit - Wood, Welbeck or Cunha. Wissa more difficult as you have the 3 Brentford players already. Your 2 are fine though, pot luck who comes out of top from those guys in the next few weeks I'd say.

Jimenez - going well, nice fixtures
Larsen - Not returned as much as cunha but 1m cheaper and it is only 1 goal difference
Cuhna - see above
Wood - yellow flagged, in great scoring form. Is overperforming xG but while the sun shines make hay. City and Arsenal in a few weeks though.
Welbeck - insane form, not the best couple of fixtures incoming
Wissa - You're struggling to get. Returned from injury in good shape, nice games for him right now

That was an essay, wasn't it?
Thanks for the feedback. Quite happy with the team. Went for Larsen in the end because of the price and I think he’s pretty underrated. He’s numbers will improve a lot with easier fixtures.

Raya
Gabriel Lewis Mykolenko Ait-Nouri
Salah (C) Palmer Mbeumo Rogers
Haaland Cunha

Subs
Semenyo
Wheatley
Greaves
I’m thinking take a hit to get rid of potentially Gabriel, Raya + Wheatley/Semenyo to upgrade elsewhere.

Thoughts?

I just think we’ve got good fixtures and players needing to make a good impression for the incoming manager. I can see Garnacho doing well.

Always a risk at his price range.

Pep did say midweek he needed a rest.

Always a risk with any City player near enough bar 2 or 3!

Saw that statement, also said he couldn't rest him so thought we might be ok for a while with him.

My squad's looking a bit bare now. Dibling benched by Southampton too today, Greaves injured. 10 outfield starters for their clubs at best.

My concern is where is he gonna play when Amorim arrives if he does go with the 343? If it's behind the striker he becomes a minutes worry and if it's elsewhere he could become a very expensive defender.

I'm trying to get Bruno in. I can shift to this, I think:

Muric
Ait-Nouri, W.Cares, Someguy
Salah, Palmer, Mbuemo, Bruno
Haaland, Wood, Jimenez

But it'd be a -8 for next week, and doing it later would be a potential for a good return gone when Bruno plays Leicester.

Yeah that’s my only worry but I can’t see him not loving Garnacho’s application and talent. I think he’s our best forward option this season so far.

Bruno on the -8 who would you be losing?

Gabriel, R.Sanchez, and Semenyo. The first is going anyway, the second it was a mistake to spend extra for the sake of having 2 keepers that would definitely start, and the latter someone's gotta make way and I like Rogers better for the bench.

Garnacho has definitely been our best attacker this season, but I do kind of wonder if that's because he's the only one who actually enjoyed/rose to the challenge of the last regime's latter months?

Don't know what went through my mind bringing in Martinelli on WC. Swiftly going out.

Havertz is also on thin ice. Already have Wood so not sure who is the best option to replace him as I don't think Welbeck will maintain his goalscoring form. Can go Watkins but it would mean I can only afford one of Saka/Palmer. I'd eventually want both of them in team.

He's wonderfully easy to predict. He always gets something at home and never gets anything away.

The three are all now ones I wouldn’t consider essential.

I think Semenyo has more returns in him but I’d take Garnacho or a Bruno over him.

The trouble is Bruno relies on someone else to score as he’s more of an assister and we’ve not had the penetrating runs for penalties.

That's true, but I'm hoping one of the big changes we see will be having far more penetrating runs! Bruno has been good at getting in behind in the past himself, but it's hard to see who provides for him at the moment.

It's possible I should just stick to what I said I'd do at the start of the season and just avoid United players altogether. It's hard to see if what I hope and what I expect are really completely at odds. It does look a tasty run though...

I wanted to avoid them too but I do wonder if this is the one point in the season where it’s the perfect storm of factors to make it a decent gamble. Good fixtures new manager incoming and affordable prices…

TAA, Gabriel, Lewis, Johnson, Haaland all on the chopping block. Today not helping their cause so far.

11 pts from 7. It's still GW10 and I think this is the 4th time that such low scores are happening
