Fantasy Premier League 20/21

I’m caught between using free transfers to upgrade my bench for a bench boost in 19, or concentrating on getting Man City players into a starting 11.

I only sold KDB two weeks ago, but it feels to big of a risk not to have any City attackers for their double.

Kane for Aguero would be ideal, but he’s too big of a risk at this point.

Fixture announcements are brilliant and make saving the Free Hit for a later double gameweek completely realistic as a strategy.

Think I’m looking at 8 players in GW18 (including KDB, Bruno, Kane.. unfortunately Brewster as well though hopefully he can do something against Newcastle).

Then in GW19 it’ll be 28 players with all 14 playing twice - though if Kane plays really well until then I may stick with him instead of switching to Vardy.

Always assumed I’d be bringing in a City defender but actually tempted by Maguire. We have great fixtures and he plays every game whereas rotation for City is a lot more unpredictable. Due some goals as we with the amount of chances he gets but I may bottle it and take Dias (or Stones for a cheaper alternative).

Still sitting pretty at the top of the Free League

My plan is a Free Hit Week 18

Bench Boost Week 19 with getting in as much players as possible that play twice - Sadly Pep rotates to much for my liking

Was going to play FH on GW18 but given possibility of more cancellations and possible DGWs, going to hold.

I was thinking of doing 3 City, 3 Arsenal etc players but City rotate and Arsenal could get nothing and chip wasted.

Only got 6 players in GW18 but they are most of my main players - having the rearranged Burnley game helps as now have Bruno and Rashford.

I can now field 10 players in GW 18.

Plus 8 players playing doubles in GW 19.
I have also 2 free transfers, so could increase the doubles, but will decided near the time.

Going to hold and not play any chips.

Absolutely. I just replaced DLC for Watkins ffs. :)
But i did it to have money for Rashford instead of Grealish

It'll be quite awkward watching Grealish and Watkins tonight.
I've spent 3/4 of the season begging them to haul.

Hopefully Watkins has one of his customary "good closing down" but utterly toothless games - but starts smashing the points next week!

Captain thoughts?

Son, Kane, Bruno or Salah.

On Son at the mo.
Fear the early kick off game for Bruno - although Tottenham at 12.30 tomorrow is still early in.
Liverpool arguably have the toughest fixture - not that Villa will be easy. But Jose is a bit of a defensive bastad even if Leeds go gung ho!

Like with City, I wouldn’t be buying Burnley and Fulham players if you are depending on them to play.

Ideally I'd like to save my free hit, but if I use my 3 FTs I'll have 9 players. I think I can use those 3 transfers best if I plan to bench boost in DGW19, therefore I'm using Free Hit in BGW18.

I'm sure there will be gameweeks later on where a Free Hit will help, but we don't know for certain yet. Easier to plan for what you know than what you don't.

Must admit, I am suddenly tempted to not free hit in 18. Only got 7 players at the moment though, one of who may still be injured, but the two free transfers before then will get me to 9. Two hits that also improve the team for future gameweeks could easily be justified.

Martinez
Konsa Taylor
Bruno Son
Kane Brewster

Doing something like Bednarek to Maguire this week would allow me to keep the options open, as well as giving me a better player this week too. I don’t really need the free transfer for anything else now if I end up free hitting anyway.

Problem with a FH18 and BB19 for me is that I can’t use the two FTs to upgrade Forster and Brewster to doublers with only a £1m in the bank, so I will to take one hit anyway.

Too many decisions. I think keeping options open is sensible though.

Very definitely.
With the next game week not starting for another 11 days - that's time to get a proper handle on who is missing from City due to covid - what injury status is on a few players like Lamptey and Taylor (that we both have), any other games being rescheduled/postponed and the overall covid situation.

Many candidates that play kind opposition. I was choosing between some players and decided that Vardy is my captain. He has got very good stats away from home. Plays against a Newcastle that were lucky against Liverpool. With Vardy fresh and Newcastle worked there socks off it is best choice. I expect Newcastle to be more attacking and that will create tons of spaces for Vardy.

Bielsa may eventually got right balance but they've played easy teams last two games. Kane and Son feels little bit tired. On other hand, they had little bit more rest. So it might be a 3-3 game or something. Depends what Mourinho does. I think Liverpool is going to have a hard, tough game and not easy at all. Fernandes is point-machine but I don't want to jinx him.

I've overthought captaincy the last few weeks and chosen based on pure logic. Now the only logical answer is Bruno, every time.

Took out Pulisic and Watkins for Neto and Richarlison. Probably put them back in if they start scoring again.

Rashford in for Grealish. Be frustrating but worth it, I think

Confidentiality agreed with the FA apparently.

But he said himself you'll soon notice when the lineup goes in!
Unconfirmed (so please don't hold me to this!) tweet on the FPL subreddit states that the 5 players are Walker, Cancelo, Ederson, Torres and Jesus.
Ederson seems to have been confirmed himself on his instagram, no idea if the other 4 are accurate though.

Hoping this guy's right.

Unless he has the express permission of the players, it would be incredibly unprofessional of him to share anything medical related. Sporting injuries are one thing where there is more a cultural of openness, but illnesses people are often less willing to share.

I think I am going with Son as Leeds always give a decent opposition a lot of chances. Bruno vice though. Not mugging into putting Kane as vice.

Very tempted to do the same but I'm gonna set and forget on Bruno for a while I think. May regret it here

This might interest any fellow Cancelo owners:

I think captaincy is best on your initial gut feel. The times I've changed it late on have tended to go wrong.
Even last week I initially had it on Bruno - changed to Salah, only to see him sneak a last min assist and Salah fail!

Son this week then. Rested and against a gung-ho team.
See how we fare.
Only concern is 8 of his 11 goals very much earlier in the season and they've gone a bit "Jose-ball" since.

Looking for a cheapish midfield option for the DGW. Have around 5.8m.

Looking at Harrison or Raphinha from Leeds, or El Ghazi. Any ideas?

edit - I already have Dallas and Bamford from Leeds, so leaning towards El Ghazi. Great form, but his DGW fixtures aren't quite as good, and Barkley coming back may threaten his minutes.

I think Raphinha looks class personally and Leeds will score goals, I’m thinking of bringing him in.

I am going for Kane. Leeds playing attack8ng football so there will be space for him

Just checked the Leeds subreddit and yeah, Raphinha is getting a lot of praise. Think he could be a great pick for the DGWs, cheers.

Telles is a headache for me.

Will he start v Villa and then Shaw for City Semi final?

Saka's my choice, with Smith Rowe (4.4 mil) on the bench.
