So, I've recently come up with this:
Ryan, Nyland
Vinagre, Robbo, TAA, KWP, Ferguson
Ward-Prowse, Salah, Auba, Pulisic, Anguissa
Mitrovic, Werner, Wickham
GK: I didn't go with McCarthy because I think Soton could be a differential, and I can still swap Mitro for Che Adams if Adams looks like he's going to get minutes and returns like after the lockdown, or go for Ings. Nyland will almost certainly be changed for Button if/when Aston Villa sign a GK (I'll probably go for Button).
DEF: It's "big at the back" with Robbo and TAA. It's part of my "Salah/Mane Exit Strategy". I'll certainly be looking shift Salah and/or Auba out to spread money out, but they are the safest bets for now, and if they take off early and their price rises, you can't buy them back. With both Robbo and TAA, I might survive the weeks that Mane/Salah explode if I don't have them on my team, especially if they are assisting and getting attacking returns. Last season I did the same, but Robbo got hurt and Allison too, but I'm still going back to the well again. KWP is a risk but I like attacking FBs and I like Soton based on their form after lockdown. Vinagre I have to keep an eye on. Shifting Vinagre or KWP for Saliba or Taylor should be easy to do. Saliba is one I am keeping my eye on. Ferguson may not play for a few weeks, but at 4.0 even if drops in value, it will be recoverable (and highly profitable) if/when he does start playing.
MF: I have a feeling Chelsea and United will have MFs producing at or near "elite levels" for much less cost. I could see some combination of Ziyech, Pulisic, Bruno (maybe Havertz or Sancho depending on price) producing really close to a combo of Salah/Auba/Mane/KdB. With one exception... Messi. Keeping big money here for now in case Messi actually, disgustingly, might happen is imperative. So, my plan here is to go with the safest bets: Auba/Salah and see if they take off before spreading the money out for the long term. Although I have to admit, I'm tempted to change Salah for Mane, since Mane looks in better form. JWP is on pens in what I assume will be a good team, and I can try to get him up to Ziyech quickly if I need to. Anguissa is just a gamble.
FWD: Werner is basically a must-have based on the ownership at this point. I personally think we'll see more of Abraham and Giroud than some people think, but I would not be surprised at all if almost teams have settled on having 3 Chelsea attackers (Pulisic/Zuyech/Havertz/Werner)
really quickly once the season gets going. Chelsea's attack represents the best value for money, outside of Martial. Plus Werner is in striking distance of Kane and an easy downgrade (in points) to Ings or Martial. I've been tempted to switch Mitrovic to Che Adams and go all in Soton now, but that's too much of a gamble. Plus, historically some Arsenal's opening fixtures have been classics for the specialists in failure
Wickham is the worst part of this team, by far. Having him excludes any option for a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3, and I'm going be set on probably a 4-4-2 for many weeks unless I Wild Card. I'm reluctant to go for Brewster unless he actually does get loaned to Sheffield or wherever, because I'm worried I'll start losing money in price drops quick. If he does get loaned, then this gets much, much, more interesting. Getting Martial is going to be a top priority for me once the season kicks off.
