Overall I like your team. The defence is definitely your weak point though. None of the defenders 'stand out' for me.
2 great midfielders and a striker partnership though.
Ahh come on! Hyypia was a solid defender and scored the goals to boot. Melchiot is a good player, or else he wouldn't still be playing in the Premiership. Heinze was a fans favourite here, be it for a season or not (and he's my token United player.) Senderos is Swiss.
Oh yeah don't get me wrong, they are all good defenders except Senderos, who is a useless twat.

Yes he is one of the best ever British keepers in my opinion - was potentially one of the best in the world in the 80s - wasnt sure how long he kept going for but looked at his stats and he was still Everton's first choice until 1998.
I have bad memories of him putting in a MoM performance against us in the '95 Cup Final.
Not bad at all for a last pick... I'm more than happy with Van der Sar, record holder and all, but 2nd pick kind of makes him very expensive.
Very good team. Essien's just the man to do Gullit's running for him!
Also Beardsley was a tremendous creator of chances for his strike partners over the years, but would suit a "fox in the box" (Lineker, Andy Cole) better than Teddy IMHO.
I was thinking that Ronaldo & Van Persie will be doing most of the scoring with Teddy dropping into midfield every so often and also being one of the best at holding on the ball on his own upfront.
Anyway, with Ronaldo, goalscoring won't be a problem.

This is definitely one of the stronger teams - a bit of a question mark in defence perhaps but midfield and forward line is strong. Although Beardsley and Sherrigham are perhaps both suited to the support striker role but still both great players so I am sure they could sort it out.

I do admit that a couple of my players had their best days before the Premier League but they still played a lot of games in the Premier League. Barnes was still playing for England until 1995 but he did change his game a bit in his later years and perhaps I could move him to a more central creative role with a young Scholes pushing a bit further forward and Petit playing behind them as a sweeper.
I knew Klinsmann had won one of the Player of the Year awards in his first season at Spurs but I wasnt actually sure if Klinsmann had played enough matches to qualify (as I also thought he only stayed for 1 year in the Prem). But I forgot that he came back to Spurs for another short spell at the end of the 97/98 season and pretty much saved them from relegation that year (9 goals in 15 matches).

Senderos and Bentley are not names I expected to see at all and Barry is not that good on the left - a strong attacking threat though with Torres, Bergkamp and Lampard.

I neither hate nor rate these 2 teams .....
Potentially the strongest defensive unit of any team and all the players are decent but just not sure about the midfield and forward line.
No particular weak link (although I never rated Silvestre in central defence and Davids was not so great in the Prem) but seems a bit unbalanced with Asprilla on the wing plus Le Tissier in centre mid.
Potentially the strongest defensive unit of any team and all the players are decent but just not sure about the midfield and forward line.

May I recomend a 433? Carbone on the wing seems a bit pointless tbh.
I was afraid someone would point that out, but I have seen Carbone on the wings... just that I really wanted 4-4-2

Also, and not to nitpick, but I thought Gallas' secondary role was LB, not RB (I was going to say that maybe you should consider Carragher at RB and Gallas at CB... just a thought you know)
As I recalled, Gallas was at RB... I cant be 100% sure though. I put Gallas there, because before, and even during Mourinho's reign, Gallas had some great games at fullback, whereas Carragher was alwaysa bit average there.
I think my team definately isn'tthe worst here... but its definately not the best... I regret Cech being my first pick..

I expected you to pick a full back as your last player and play 4-4-2 with Sharpe and Ljungberg on the wings - was looking like a good team but strange final choice to be honest.
