Gaming Fallout 4

Yeah, think I'll wait until I get my PC. PS4 screenshots look woof. Bethesda skimping out with that 10 year old engine.

Who's most reliable for delivering preorders early or at least on time?

Got some time booked off so don't want a wasted day.
Thegamecollection.net seem to get pre-orders to a lot of people a day or 2 early.

I think I'm going to wait until Christmas for this one, Tomb Raider is out the same day and I don't fancy a Bethesda game on launch day with the state games are being released in this gen.

Graphics look shite by modern standards but Bethesda games have never really been about the graphics anyway. Plus on PC it should be better especially with mod possibilities. Can't wait.

I got Skyrim from Shopto a day before release. They have a good reputation for doing that. I'm considering using them again.

Is this a Tuesday release?

Going to order from simply games then. Got MGS on a Friday, when it was a Tuesday release. Halo last Saturday from them too. Shopto rarely get Tuesday releases early to me. They ship them on Saturday or Monday.

Think I'll wait on this to see what reviews it gets on console. Graphics look a bit rancid and the New Vegas was almost unplayable for the most part on PS.

I doubt it will be unplayable this time. The trend this gen seems to be that the games run better on PS, which was the opposite of last gen. Obviously not as good as playing on PC.

Yeah, they never got that engine running well on the PS3 but there is no such issue with the PS4 (other than the fact the engine is old).

I like they styling of this. Hype is high even though I've not played previous Fallout games much (I imagine plot wise it will be accessible anyway?).

It's mostly lore, you won't really miss anything by not having played previous games.

I'm reading lots of criticism over the graphics. I personally don't understand it (I really like the style) and anyway, Fallout 3 and New Vegas were pretty ugly games. Impressive in scope and detail but visually not great at all.

And if anyone else has seen the brief high quality videos (total about 8 minutes), you should be feeling pretty hyped. It shows off sprinting and the animation actually doesn't look terrible like in most Bethesda games! Gunplay looks fantastic too.

Meh, it's a Bethesda game so the rough edges aren't a surprise. I'm buying it for the same reason I buy any Bethesda game; the world design.

That and I fully expect Part Two of Steam's own Spaaaaaaccceeeeee mod from Skyrim to pop up in this game.

It will be a technical mess for sure, will probably take 3 months before it's properly stable. I don't care though.

Hmm that makes it tempting to order from them but they have it for £48 which is a bit too much

They are, though.

Shame they're using the same engine as Skyrim cause it looks very similar, and with games like The Witcher 3 coming out since then it really does look a bit meh.

Hopefully it's great though.

To be fair there were a few faces in that trailer that made me chuckle. But I actually dig the style. No - I wouldn't say it looks great, but I'm completely fine with the graphics.

As long as it's shit loads of fun I'll be happy. Not long now, hype hype hype!

TW3 is so overrated, and this is coming from a fan who loved the first two. Game world is big, i love the seamless no loading screens, but the proportions are way off. Geralt feels like a giant, while structures, buildings, and villages felt small. Give me a Bethesda open worldie any day.

I often think Bethesda do the awkward face animations and movement on purpose. It's all part of the humour of the games. Not taking itself too seriously.

The Witcher 3 is far from overrated. It deserves every drop of praise it gets.

While I don't totally agree with you on Witcher 3 (absolutely love it, although I didn't play the first two), I can't wait for the verticality and huge buildings Fallout will bring.

Well, that is your opinion. There were many bugs and glitches on launch and they downgraded the graphics from E3, amongst many other things. I still enjoyed it, but they deserve to be called out for initially lying about the graphics instead of just admitting that they needed to cater to a wider range of specs and consoles. But that isn't really an excuse either because they had the "Ubersampling" feature for TW2 specifically intended for pc enthusiasts.

It's almost everyone's opinion though.

If you're in the minority you're probably wrong*

Witcher is overrated because of bugs and glitches so you want a Bethesda game...

Also Bethesda released a blog post with a couple of screenshots on it which have been called out on neogaf by people who already have the game who are saying it looks nowhere as good as the cherry picked pictures
