Gaming Fallout 4

It looks decent enough. I'm personally just going to calmly wait for this and not build myself up. Hopefully it'll pleasantly surprise me.

I know the base building is optional, I'm just put off by the idea that devs nowadays have to cram so many side activities into games that don't necessarily add to the game. Blame Ubisoft.

I see your point, but (for me anyway) it seems like a path that was always going to be looked at, makes sense for the Fallout universe.

The world's gone to shit, eventually people are going to start improving it and building smaller towns and settlements (same with creating/customising weapons using scraps). We'll have to wait and see, but I think it could be really cool if there are the standard cities/towns across the Wasteland and a handful of your own newly built places scattered around. As long as they feel 'alive' i.e. not just one or two old companions just walking around pointlessly - the prescence of trades and vendors is promising.

That's about right. All this "best ever!" And "looks crap!" Stuff goes round and round, but ultimately we don't know until we play.

Indeed. I think my skepticism is mainly coming from the absolute perfection that is The Witcher 3. My expectations have been raised so much in terms of what open world games should now offer. Bethesda will have to come up with something very special to give it a run for its money.

In saying that, I've always loved the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls games, so I'll probably end up enjoying it either way.

there'll bea fair few massive games coming out in the few weeks before it anyway so even if this was a let down you'd be fine

Good point.

But from what I'm hearing, FO4 will be delayed or a mess. Currently they are expecting at least a huge day 1 patch might get them to that release date.

I just hope it's good and the shit stuff like microtransactions are kept to a minimum. Personally, I don't see the problem with the base building stuff, but if (or when more like) they do start charging for bits you can't get in game, then they and anyone who buys that nonsense can feck right off.

Me too, something i always wanted to do on Skyrim & Fallout.

There was a mod for this on Fallout 3 a few years a go. Well, there probably still is tbh. Bethesda games should almost exclusively be bought on PC for the modding capabilities.

This looks so good. The E3 demo made me want it even more. I think the base building is pretty cool tbh, I'll definitely be trying that though I understand it won't be for everyone. Graphics I thought looked a lot better in the demo than in the initial announcement trailer a couple of weeks ago. I also thought the main character having a voice might be weird, but it seems to work pretty well there.

Im a pretty casual console gamer, but will bear that in mind for Fallout 4.

Expecting another shallow Bethesda game, but hope I'm proven wrong. Also expecting another Skyrim - A game that reviews at least 2 points outta 10 higher than it should.

Are you guys pre-ordering? If so, where are you getting it from? I'm torn between a download from Steam or CDkeys and a physical copy.

I've been putting off buying a PS4 for a long time. Will get one to coincide with this release though, absolutely loved 3 and New Vegas.

I'd rather have download this digitally. But digital prices for consoles are pretty ridiculous...

They have to be, don't they? The physical stores would make no money if the PSN/XB store did reasonable prices/discounts etc.

I've got my copy pre-loaded and ready to go. I expect to put 100 hours plus into this, like I did with Fallout 3. Can't wait

So, anyone excited yet? Bought Hearts of Stone and pre-ordered black-ops3, so I'm occupied at least. Plus the sexiness of pre-ordering for a game that is out on a tuesday, means that its sent thursday or friday :)

Buy from a foreign region on the xbox store mate. On US store it'll be about £37

Lack of game footage this close to release is weird, not that it means anything but I thought we would have some decent stuff by now.

I'm kinda of regretting getting the digital edition now. I got the physical versions of Metal Gear and Halo, and I ended up getting them delivered a few days before release date.

Who's most reliable for delivering preorders early or at least on time?

Got some time booked off so don't want a wasted day.

Looks great. Might give it a swerve for a week or so though, personally. Got a few essays to be handing in right around when this releases.

Always weary of judging from screenshots, I need some footage. Pretty clear its not going to be a standout game for looks though, they really need a new engine.
