Gaming Fallout 4

How are the first two games? I've only played Fallout 3 and quite liked that but I'm not too keen on the way the dialogue etc. has gone in the latest instalment.
Fallout New Vegas is far superior to FO3 in terms of dialogue, writing and overall RPG elements. Why haven't you played it?!

Man, it kinda sucks how Obsidian seem to drift between projects while Bethesda get the guaranteed money makers considering that they make the dumber games.

I just borrowed Fallout 3 from my little brother and played it back in the day. For some reason I never picked up New Vegas. And I have this policy of (almost) only buying games when they're at a 75% discount. Add to that I don't play as much as I used to and I have a decent enough backlog.

I got my FO:NV for like £4 a couple of months ago so it's pretty cheap now. Highly recommend it if you are looking for meaningful choice and dialogue. Sadly FO4 has absolutely nothing in those regards.

Yeah I'm sure it would have been on sale a fair few times. I've only just added it to my wish list on Steam so next time it's on sale I'll get notified.

Feck electricity in this game. I've wasted so much copper making generators, plyons, conduits and running wires all over the place and my shit-shack still won't light up properly.

Whenever I go to complete that raider quest for Greentop Nursery, it says I become allied with Greentop Nursery and then instantly says no longer allies. Think it's a bug but not sure. The kidnapping quest that originally you needed to do I couldn't do as my game crashes whenever I get close to Monsignour plaza, so this was the back up quest I got I guess to get the place and now it turns out that it doesn't let me get it anyway. So many bugs in this game it's annoying.

Do the missions ever end for that Preston guy? It just seems to be helping one settlement after another.

I'm like 20 minutes into this and stuck already.

In my defence, it was late last night when I got stuck, so it may become clear now that I've had some sleep. I'm in the part in the Liberty Museum and I have to either hack the password on one of two computers or pick a lock with a bobby pin. I broke the only bobby pin which I had for the lock and I don't know how to do the computer hacking. Any tips?

Bobby pins are easy to find, much easier than Fallout 3. You shouldn't have a problem finding any.

The longer you play this game the bugger it gets. I've started to get some hard crashes now.

I had three hard crashes in the first few hours of playing. Been okay for the most part since but I still use the Quicksave frequently.

One of my saves was on the U.S.S Constitution. Following day I went on, loaded my save and it had my character stuck on some objects. Wouldn't let me jump, move or quick travel. Tried shooting around me but ended up crippling my legs and killing me. Eventually I had to load an older save which was only a couple of mins earlier but worked fine

I've not really had any problems, but it just crashed for me when I quickloaded (granted, I had already quickloaded a billion times over like five minutes while fighting some legendary dude) so now I'm worried the game will start shitting itself. Wouldn't be surprising, though, Bethesda games tend to get buggier the longer you play.

Are all the companions hopelessly terrible or is it just Preston? I'm not far into the game so he's the only one I have, but he's been an absolute nightmare to travel with. Blowing my cover, stepping on mines and to add insult to injury the fecker can't even shoot with his giant pew pew laser thing.

If they're all this bad then I'm thinking to just ditch the lot of them and pick up the lone wanderer perk.

Computer hacking is straightforward enough.
Read this: http://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/fallout-4-guide-how-to-hack-computers/

Basically you have to find the password from a list. You have four guesses and on each guess it tells you how similar the word you've chosen is to the actual password - similarity is where the letter is right and in the right place so say the word you're looking for is DUMB and you select TIME from the list it'll say the similarity is 1

In addition to this I don't think terminals lock you out permanently if you fail like they did in FO3 and NV - just a 10 second cooldown before you can try again.

Nah it's seconds, I just had a quick google. The top hacker perk removes the cooldown too.
Oh so I should just wait instead of just moving on and ignoring the terminal if I fail then. Missed a bit then considering I didn't know what to do with them for a bit

Backing-out is another one. If you use three tries but still have no clue, exit and reenter the hacking screen, and your tries will have been reset.

They all kinda blow your cover at times but Nick Valentine makes up with it by being a cool character and Cait is more useful in combat as she is a melee fighter so less likely to keep missing like Preston.

I use Cait mostly now as she doesn't mind you stealing or asking for bigger payments from people.

A tip for people who are over emcombered and having to walk slowly to stash everything somewhere. You can drop items and tell your companion to pick it up and they will even if they are at max capacity.

@JmRssll555 there are other symbols beyond the ones they mention there that give you extra goes etc. It seems to me that if you mouse over all the non-letters, if it highlights more than 1 at a time then clicking them will give you some sort of bonus.

Thanks for that mate, I'll try and find some of those next time.

Visit Cambridge Polymer Labs. Nice mission inside and a very nice reward.

It's crashing a lot for me on PS4, whenever I get to reach a certain point in a mission or place on the map it crashes, I'm unable to finish two side missions because of it.

Have you figured out a solution at all?

I can't get those Diamond City Radio songs out of my head when I'm not playing. Bongo, bongo, bongo I don't wanna leave the Kongo..

Uranium fever has done and got me down
Uranium fever is spreadin' all around
With a Geiger counter in my hand
I'm a-goin' out to stake me some government land
Uranium fever has done and got me down

This one has been stuck in my head for a week now.

Everything I've read about this sounds a bit rubbish.

Stepping on mines has been added to this list. Sounds annoying.

No, and it's three quests I can't do now and one of them is a storyline quest so I'm stuck. I've read online it's something to do with your saves being corrupt or something, if you load up an old one and continue from there it might work. I can't be bothered going back that far though so I'm just hoping they fix it soon.

My game is crashing left, right and centre on PS4. It's a fecking mess.
Think the main problem is when you go close to Monsignor plaza. Happens to me too. Crashes with the flight on the vertiberd mission, as the plane flies over the plaza, and then when you walk close to it then the game crashes too. Saw a lot of people have he problem too. Basically unplayable as so many missions are stuck at that point. Apparently a patch is meant to be coming out this week some time, so I'd assume it will fix that.

Weird (actually quite shocking) that I've experienced no bugs yet (apart from some quite severe frame rates drops on XB1, but even then not exactly regular occurrences).

I'm sure I'll get hit sooner or later but for now I really can't fault it. This game has been fantastic for me so far.

That store glitch where you can effectively get all the items for nothing is quite funny.

I almost never bought it after reading the complaints on here. I've witnessed the odd slight glitch here or there and a handful of frame rate drops but nothing serious. The game is absolutely class my favourite fallout so far.

I can't fault the game at all..(Well I can, building a settlement is quite fun, but having to sort out 10 or 11 is not)

Completed it the other day. Really don't know if I went with the right people or not, but I think I am happy with my decision.
