He will get a run of matches and the tone here will shift from complaining about him never starting to complaining about how shite he is.
I don't expect goals from him bar the occasional one. He isn't aggressive in that pursuit. Unless he is on the ball in an attacking move, he tends to pace himself for a sideways option, rebound or turnover, he doesn't attack the box to be the finisher. Not sure that made a lot of sense without tge requisite arm-waving body language, but it is evident to me.My biggest concern about him is that he just doesn't seem capable of scoring goals.
When did he last score in a competitive match?

That's fair. I believe that Pellistri will be a good player given a chance.I have no issue with him failing, everyone else has, but he needs a fair chance and a decent run of games like others were given.
The big difference between the 2 aswell is Pellestri is willing to take people on. Antony doesn’t do that as much, he’ll either pass it or lose it. Pellestri is a decent dribbler just needs to work on end product. Amad is a very good dribbler and I’d say he has better end product then both Pellestri and Antony. He just needs to stay fit and then he’ll get his chance. In regards to his scoring and assisting. Last season he only got a little over 60 minutes of total playtime for us in the premier league.
To compare Antony got 1800 minutes and only managed 4 goals and 2 assists. So its not like his right wing competition is scoring tons of goals.

What he does really well is break lines, pull defenders out of their comfort zone and has a knack for byline cutback assists. Doing that alone, he may turn out a great foil for Hojlund. He won't turn into a goalscoring inverted winger, that's just not him.
Three in seven caps.He has a knack for getting to the byline but has nothing to show in terms of actual assists. Pellistri only has one assist in senior football since moving to Europe in 2019. I don't get the hype.

He will get a run of games when he earns it. Nacho has had to fight for the minutes he’s played. He’s done well but even then he has very few starts to his name.I have no issue with him failing, everyone else has, but he needs a fair chance and a decent run of games like others were given.
Exactly, Sancho and Antony are pathetic when faced with an opponent.Well he actually gets to the byline and takes players on. Thats more than Antony and Sancho....
Nacho has Rashford ahead of him, someone who scored 30 times. The players ahead of Pellestri do not form on anything near a consistent basis. He will get a run of games when he earns it. Pellistri has been exciting at times and showed enough to suggest he will get more minutes. We have to remember that every player is given quite complex responsibilities and the performance in all “the rules” is important to EtH.
Again, we're dishing out long term contracts with players showing next to nothing.
Business, not a football club.
Sure, love him and i hope he makes it.
But, he has a contract until 2025. Let him earn it. With our luck he'll be another one of non transferable overpaid deadwood.
How does giving Pellistri a long-term contract boost the business rather than the club bottom line?Again, we're dishing out long term contracts with players showing next to nothing.

Agree with those who have concerns about renewing his contract. Apart from a few decent showings for his NT and a few sporadic decent showings for United he has shown nothing in performances or talent to suggest he has a long term future here. Yes his salary would probably be low but that shouldn't be the reason to renew. I do wish we were a bit braver as a club in getting rid of players.
But that's the point - why renew the contract now?People are being ridiculously harsh, he’s barely had a chance here.
He’ll get more and more chances if he plays well enough each time. He’s good at getting to the byline and that’s worth something but his whole game has to be good enough. For now, I think it’s more likely that Rashford will be moved to the right and Nacho will come in on the left than we’ll see Pellistri starting.Exactly, Sancho and Antony are pathetic when faced with an opponent.

In fairness, the only reason people question it is we have a terrible record of completely unnecessary renewals. Had this been 15 years ago everyone would be celebrating getting him tied up longer and trusting the manager with the call.People are being ridiculously harsh, he’s barely had a chance here.
So we have at least one wingerBut that's the point - why renew the contract now?
If ETH regularly plays Rashford on the right and Garnacho left that's when I'm done with him. Nobody in their right mind can expect that to ever work. He’ll get more and more chances if he plays well enough each time. As long as he gets a fair chance to prove his shiteness (or brilliance hopefully) is all anyone wants. He will get a run of matches and the tone here will shift from complaining about him never starting to complaining about how shite he is.
I stand corrected over his international assists, and I notice 2 of them came in one match and the other was in a friendly. Perhaps he hasn't amassed a good amount of game time at United because he hasn't earned it.Three in seven caps. Since 2019 he's got feck all minutes for us and otherwise played at relegation fodder Alavés.
I'd like to see Pellistri and Garnacho share that role. Rashford is terrible on the right but as far as I can remember Garnacho hasn't been tried there. Wouldn't be against seeing how he does as an inverted winger.i mean at this point he has to start. Not sure we even have other RW options right now. Garnacho and rashford arent RW. I mean maybe you put garnarcho out there but seems like that be a waste.
Yeah this is exactly my read on the situation and I also would like to see him get some decent minutes (instead of 5-10 mins when the game is all but dead).Cant see him starting just yet but impact sun with a decent amount of minutes would be great. Everytime I’ve seen him - he does something that none of our recent RW players do - that is get to the byline and cross….amazing would could happen if that happened.
His issue will always be how much ETH trusts him defensively - that’s why he loves Anthony so much - going forward I think he is liked.
I doubt that he would start against Brighton - whoever on that side needs to be tracking and sniffing out Mitoma as he’s a serious threat.
All in though - time to give young Facundo a decent chance.
Not at all. At this age players are better to be held on long term deals (it’s not like he’s on massive wages) because they actually hold value even when they’re not playing that much. He does look quite quick from a standing start which is one thing Sancho/Antony aren’t so interesting to see if he starts.Stupid, unnecessary move if true. Will just make him more difficult to shift if he doesn't work out.
