Fabregas

True, but would he fly across the world on "urgent transfer business" if Barcelona/Fabregas hadn't given some encouragement? The fact that he is physically needed to be in Manchester suggests that the Fabregas transfer (if that's what he flew back for, as Moyes claims) is moving forward, not stalling.

1. But where did the quote "urgent transfer business" come from?
2. As has been pointed out, if Woodward had to scramble home for a transfer it may not be good news. It may because the transfer plans are unravelling.
3. If united do not get any marquee signings then it will be useful to say " we tried!"

This is great. With Moyes in Australia we get some early morning muppetry as well.

I still have no idea why Fabregas would want to join us or why Barcelona would want to sell.

Arsenal fans seem convinced he would go back to them if he was available.

Since they are lacking in really big players they can sell this summer, would Fabregas leaving Barca but not returning to Arsenal be considered almost like the annual losing another big player?

They seem to think that he bums Wenger so much that he would choose leaving one of the top two teams in the world to a team battling for 4th place in their domestic competition.

Get RVP on the case. De Gea, you're fired as our tap-up specialist. Step forward RVP and tap-up your best mate.

Fantastic news, if true. The club generally do not speak about ongoing negotiations unless we are at an advanced stage (see RVP last year). It is very positive that Moyes has spoken publicly about this, especially after saying that he won't name specific targets only a few weeks ago.

To be honest, to me, its not exactly what Moyes said - because i found that kinda open to interpretation that The Equalizer was just gonna follow up on the bid, but its the headline on our website: "David Moyes has confirmed Manchester United are in negotiations to sign midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona"

They're actually goin full-muppet on this one too, because we're in fecking talks about gettin him - they'd never put that up there unless its happening.. Oh Yes, oh yes indeeedy - as Stu Allen would say on Key 103

This is unbearable. I mean, I still don't see why Barcelona would sell him, I still can't imagine Fabregas wanting to come here - but he would be so perfect. And the club, well, the manager of the club, actually confirmed the negotiations are happening.

It will be horribly painful to miss out on him after all this. I tried to remain cold and cynical but Moyes' declaration ruined that plan, now I'm trembling like a virgin girl on a first date.

Well thats just ludicrous, why would he want to go back to not winning anything for the rest of his career?

Same here. Makes no sense. Hence I am extra sceptical on this one. Although I guess there's a chance....

I can't help feeling we'll end up with egg on our face. I'd like to trust that Moyes and Woody know what they're doing, but this hunt for Fabregas just seems pointless to me.

Would love it if I am wrong, though.

1. Not sure exactly, but the term has been widely reported by the media.
2. Fair enough, but if any current transfers that could potentially unravel are at an advanced stage, how has the club kept it under wraps given everything is being leaked to the media? It seems more likely that he flew back about a potential transfer than a transfer unraveling.
3. I personally think that'd be even worse for the club, since it would imply that our pulling power/ability to attract top players isn't as great as it used to be (which is worse than having money problems).

Maybe he just wants to be loved. Ronaldo is a prime example of the Spanish muppets not being able to lace the boots of our muppets.

Can't think any strong reason of why Fab would want to join us; other than he wants to make a name for himself, instead of living under the shadow of Messi and Iniesta (and probably Neymar later on).

Carrick - Fab - Kagawa - Mata - v.Persie. What should a man do to make this dream comes true?

I'm skeptical too but I'm not how much sense it makes to publicise our negotiations unless we're confident of making it happen.

I'm going full muppet mode too but keep in mind that the persons who maintain the website are not privy to inside information from Moyes/Woodward. They often post transfer gossip and rumors just like other tabloids and are just as big muppets as the rest of us :D

I still remember when we announced the signing of Aaron Ramsey. What a disaster.

I wonder if our fans will go all mental over Moyes being extremely disrespectful to Barcelona like they did when Pep spoke about Thiago.

Oh i know that Bob, but thats just what the papers are reporting - and thats them reporting that. That headline doesnt get any more confirming that ITS ON!

Once I see something reported on bbc.co.uk I'm usually a whole lot more confident, so this is looking positive!

Moyes setting himself up for a fall? If this backfires we could look like idiots. Maybe Moyes knows more than he is letting on. Still think Fabregas will not want to leave Barca.

I'm a little skeptical about this bid to, is it just us trying to show our financial muscle.

Exceptional transfer. If United pull this off it sets a new prescedent as far as I'm concerned. Fabregas is for me one of the top 5 central midfielders in world football. I for one never expected the midfield question to be answered with one of the best there is. I've been skeptical so far this summer but this will be a massive statement from the club.
