Fabregas

Wow! If that quote is accurate it shows United are no longer in safe hands. Wasting weeks in a pointless effort to buy a player who wasn't for sale. Amateur night in Manchester.
Toddle off and stay away from sharp objects.

@Will- Clubs can have multiple negotiations on at the same time. It isnt as if we cannot work on other deals till we stop trying to get fabregas in. For a player of his quality, you make sure you leave no stone unturned even if that means going back and forth 10 times.

You would think that.. But we still have zero signings.

Hang on, is this quote any different to the past 2-3weeks of various Barce goons saying he wasn't for sale?

One thing for sure is I am struggling to take any positives of our transfer dealings in or out thus far this summer.

Early August and nobody in and Rooney situation still very much up in the air.

Fergie would have sorted shit out one way or another by now.

Moyes start has been far from smooth, some harsher folk may call it a shambles.

Well lets just hope that we have a plan b (or c or d, whatever the feck it is).

Get your tin hat on!

Fwiw, I agree. We've been rather flat-footed this summer.

Zubizarreta has stressed that "unless something has changed and we have not heard player Cesc is ours."

Could just be the bad translation but that doesn't sound anywhere near as definitive.

Fergie is the one who let the midfield stutter for six years without bringing any players in, Randall. Let's not place all blame on Moyes.

The decaying midfield is undoubtedly Fergie's fault, but we could have done better in this transfer window so far.

Well he's said we've dropped our interest, so that's new.

Is that because we haven't come back with another bid(yet)? Based on Martino's comments about Cesc making a decision, I would say, probably.
If Cesc says he wants to come, we will be back in. Of that I am sure.

If he has decided to stay, then Moyes may comment on it at the next press conference. Maybe.

Ah if only we sign quality players with the same efficiency we sign sponsors..

Hang on, though. Firstly, the Rooney situation may well have been (at least partly) of Fergie's making. Not to mention the fact that if Rooney genuinely wants out and we genuinely want to keep him, there is nowhere else for it to be other than up in the air. I'm not sure Fergie could have done anything differently, other than choose to sell him.

Obviously we'd prefer to have gotten our top targets earlier, but these things can happen. There are a limited number of players good enough to play for us. That group is reduced much further still to the number of those players who are actually available for transfer. It takes time, patience and timing to get those players.

I'm sure we have something in the works.

Hope so. I suspect we've kept alternatives on ice until we see the outcome of this Fabregas saga. It's a shitter if these Zubi quotes are true though because the likely alternatives aren't at the same level.

Moyes only started a month ago.

When Fergie was wrapping up transfers early it was because he had been with the club the entire season and was able to do that.

I'm really not sure what Moyes is doing wrong. Trying to sign one of the worlds best midfielders? How awful of him!

Of course United will end up buying players. But yes, they will not be Fabregas level. Too fecking few players out there at that level.

I've said this earlier in the thread but I don't think this is a fair point. Pellegrini and Mourinho have both done decent business despite having a relatively short period in their new job.

They've signed decent players but nobody near the level of Fabregas.

If we are to go for an inferior player, it'd be better for them to get in early and have the full pre season to settle in. Just my view. I don't think we're well set considering the difficulty of our start to the season.

Well they don't need to mate, as we all know that we tried.

If rumors are to be believed we offered £30m knowing £36 plus add ons would've clinched the deal....so possibly not hard enough!

Try a little harder. There's one tiny corner of obnoxious stupidity you've yet to explore.

You truly are a chump. You have proven yourself, this evening, to be a copper plated bellend, with your nonsense about the club no longer in safe hands. I take it you are prone to panic attacks and knee jerk reactions? You are trying to talk down to me from your high ground, but in reality you are flapping in a sea of denial. You cocked up with that post, now just find a corner and go and lie in your own pish.

If Fabregas was just using Uniteds interest to improve his position then what exactly should United have done differently, given that they probably can't read minds? They have to try for that level of player when there's a chance.

If United had played it safe, just bought Fellaini and McCarthy in July, would anyone be raving about how decisive they had been? No they wouldn't.
