1st thought: I really believe he won't play for another Premier League club as long as Wenger is manager at Arsenal.
2nd thought: The transfer of Thiago to Bayern means that they aren't as flexible to letting him leave this summer. Remember that they want to improve their squad and I don't believe selling him this summer is in the squads best interest.

Jonny Evans is a better defender than David Luiz but you'd never get the media pricing him so ridiculously.
My brother-in-law is a big Barca fan and supposedly Luiz is extremely highly rated over there. It's odd.

Evans is a better defender but Luiz is a more 'fancy' player. And the big two in Spain seems to be more interested signing names than players they actually need. Luiz can score screamers, that's all some people see.

Luiz is a very good passer with more than decent technique and while he's not a great defender by any means he's still better than Mascherano. He'd suit Barca.
That's true, but there are many other defenders who are good passers with decent technique but are actually much better than him at defending (Evans, Bonucci, Agger etc). I don't get why the team who is excellent but has a big weakness in defense are going for a very expensive player who in the end is not that good at defending. If some people think that Pique now can't defend, well David Luiz is much worse than him at it.

I thought this was a fabregas thread. Anyways David Luiz is a phenomenal defender that struggles with positional sense in English league tactics. At Barca in a year or two he would be among the very best defenders on the planet
