Fabregas to Barcelona!

Barca having best 3 midfielders in the world plus the best young midfielder. It is almost like cheating.

With Cesc and Nasri gone, they are going to find it difficult to attract top players now. And it will be even worse next season if they fail to qualify for the CL.

Introduce your arse to the bench Cesc, they're going to be spending a lot of time together.

I still can't believe Arsenal have agreed for such a low price.

Crazy to think they might have got double the amount for him two years ago. I suppose they can console themselves with the trophies they won hanging on for the extra two years.

He is unveiled and also kisses the badge towards the end of the video.

Should that piss Arsenal fans off?

If that was a United player I'm sure we'd be miffed.

Ahh well, good riddance and good luck to Arsenal fighting for a top 6 finish.

Hope he has a horrid time there and warms the bench for the next few years. Glad this is finally over for the Arsenal supporters, I wouldn't wish this kind of saga on anyone but, the dippers or the noisy neighbours.

It isn't realistically that though. It's absolute minimum £29m over 5 years, and the chances of Barcelona not winning another CL or La Liga in that time are minimal. Thus we'll probably get the full £34m, which is still underpriced.

The other 5 million euros will be paid to Arsenal IF Barcelona win AT LEAST two league titles AND one champions league title in the next 5 years..

Those are in euros by the way..

So my understanding of the financial breakdown is

£25.4m upfront
£4.4m over 5 yrs
£4.4m based on Barca performance

So £30m rising to £35m essentially.

Arsenal still got buttfecked, the better hope the exchange rate goes in their favour if/when that 5m euro is due.

Barca look really scary now.

Fabregas isn't an improvement on anyone in their team unless they drop Busquets or one of the defenders which would probably be fixing what isn't broken.

Finally it's over, it was like some irritating rash, every day you're forced to hear something about it when trying to catch the news.

But it was the loss of his captain at the end of a transfer saga which really hurt Wenger, who admitted: 'We sold Cesc for a reduced fee. If you can make an auction between Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, you will certainly get more money, but he just wanted to go to Barcelona.

'Cesc went because he was desperate to play for his home town at a club where his grandfather was a member of the committee. It's not a financial affair but one of the heart.'

Wenger resisted the idea it might have been better to have sold Fabregas at the start of the transfer window, allowing more time to prepare his team for the campaign ahead.

'We did want to get a decent fee,' said the Frenchman. 'You cannot say because you want to get the deal done as quickly as possible, "Just take him and give us what you want". You have to fight for your rights.'

No, but you can drag it out for the whole off season and then let them give you what they want, eh Arsene? Wenger's made a right mess of this saga.

I've stared at that for like 10 minutes trying to figure what that means

Their first offer was about £23M.

And after the whole summer you've scrounged an extra £2.5 off them, that was worth all the fannying around. I know you're incapable of admitting when Wenger or Arsenal in general feck up, but they have here, big time. If they'd wrangled a serious fee out of Barca then fair enough, but they've been absolutely had. They should have got it out of the way at the start of the window and used the money to make the purchases your squad needs in time to give new arrivals a preseason.

As it is you've just lost your captain and best player for relative peanuts, look like you're going to be losing arguably your second best player and the season has already started.

 How do Barca get everyone for less than they're worth? Sanchez cost them around 23m, Cesc 25-30.

We'll just add a few more years on to the plan. It won't be the first time, after all.

Atleast we got a world record fee for Ronaldo.

Arsenal have gotten raped here. One of the best players in the world for a maximum of 35 million or 1 Andy Carroll, not mention 2 summers wasted in terms of time, energy and future planning. Ridiculous. A club run by a bunch of mugs by the looks of it.

Only 25 Million initial fee?

Did he threaten to go strike or score own goals?

They're winning everything, and the players want to be there to get some of the plaudits. Once they come sniffing around and the players decides he wants to join them the club are pretty much fecked, they wont be able to start a bidding war if the player wont go anywhere else. So its either sell for less than you could, or have an unhappy player potentially disrupting the squad.

This line of reasoning is destroyed by Ronaldo's £80m transfer fee.

True, that was Real Madrid though. They were a bit more desperate for him seeing as they were trying to build a team to compete with Barca and wanted the BPITW as their jewel, that gave us a bit more leverage over them. They were never going to walk away from a deal for Ronaldo at that point in time, whereas Barca arent exactly short of world class central midfielders.

Fair point, but just more reason why Arsenal should have stood firm. Fabregas was never going to be the type to sulk and not put in maximum effort, and for the money they've got they'd have been better keeping him.

I almost think Perez and co take pride in paying exuberant fees.

It all started with the 40 million for Zidane where it was as if they were boasting about how much they were paying.

To the 80 mil for Ronaldo and the 60 mil for Kaka, somebody who hadn't been 'world class' for 2 seasons prior.

Barca's problem turned out to be Arsenal's problem too.. Barca simply had no more money..

Arsenal simply couldn't hold on to him anymore. He wanted to go so badly that he wasn't going to be focused enough and mentally ready to play if he stayed with Arsenal for another season..

And with every season his value will drop more and more (because he ONLY wants to leave for Barcelona, and every year he is one year older and has one less year remaining on his contract, which is already true because Barca offered more last year)..

Besides, I think Wenger promised him last Summer that he'll go this year if they fail to win a trophy again last season (and boy did they fail!).

So Arsenal were surrendered to the fact that he was going to leave this Summer, but the question was how much money will they get? And they did milk Barcelona to the last penny they have, it just turned out that Barcelona didn't have that much..

Believe it or not but Ronaldo was a gentleman. He wanted to join Real badly but he made sure that United made maximum profit out of him. The Fabregas deal reminds me alot of the Posh Becks deal a couple of years back. Becks was creating all sort of problems to SAF and since he only wanted to join Real (Bayern and Barcelona gave us better offers) we had to give him to them on their terms.

I won't be surprised if in a decade time, when his career will be at an end and he'll look fo somewhere to step in as a coach, Fabregas will be talking about his unconditional love towards Arsenal.

With him saying stuff like he is finally home, it sends a bad message to the Arsenal fans. He means it like he was held captive or something. Ronaldo never said anything like that.
