Fabregas to Barcelona!

I doubt they will do infront of their own fans.

Real couldn't even win and conceded 2 away goals, which is quite sad considering Sanchez and Messi's haven't had a pre-season.

I expect Fabregas to get a little cameo, the ovation will be absolutely deafening when he comes on the pitch.

Barca players aren't fit, and the game is only 3 days away.. Anything can happen..

Barca were a bit lucky today to be honest to get away with a draw.

We'll see..

Too many cooks!!! Fab's the final piece in the jigsaw- let the jealousy and infighting begin!

Doubt it - I think he's pretty aware of how good Xavi and Iniesta are, considering he's won two major tournaments with them, and he knows what he's getting with this deal.

Finally done then. Looking at Barca tonight they aren't crying out for him but the best midfield in the world just got even better.

Am I reading this right, is it 30million in cash plus Arsenal dont have to pay a bonus or is it 35million & the bonus.

If Barca are only shelling out 30million on this someone better get round to Arsenal with the chilled wet wipes.

I'd like to point out that I posted months ago Fab was off to Barca for £35m. I'm ITK you know.

I would point out as well but I am useless at the search function and can't find my post but I did say it.

Where are you now Storey?

I think someone called it about 4 years ago.

Thank god it's fecking over. Although the fees here is a joke, Barcelona have done well in this respect.

Still represents something of a coup, getting a £20mil+ profit on him. Would have preferred to keep him in all honesty, we're going to just have to move on. Last season in some ways prepared us for the inevitability of life without Cesc, so there's not going to be a lot of change in the way of adapting to play without him. Hopefully once Nasri's gone as well (along with others who don't want to be at the club anymore) we can rebuild properly.

There's been a stale feeling around the club for a good while, and this is perhaps what we've been crying out for in order to concentrate on winning games rather than on whose staying or going.

That's a strange point of view. Would Barca be pleased with £30m for the likes of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc? It's a shite deal for you, considering how good a player he is and where the market is. But it wasn't your fault in the end, Fabregas made it known it was a one horse race and it looked like it had started to destabilise the club. What can you do?

Getting 30-35m for a 24 year old whose on a long term contract and one of the best in the world is nowhere near a coup I'm afraid. It's nothing short of being raped.

You've the likes of Stewart Downing going for 20m ffs.

35M is not a joke of a fee ffs. Just because Carroll goes for the same price, it does not mean you can represent everyone's transfer fee based on their ability compared to a hugely over-priced player.

20 million+ profit for Fabregas is shit to be honest. Considering you got him on a free, and he's been your best player for, well, forever, and you can't replace his quality at the moment, his loss will be a substantial one. It's like saying 35 million profit would have been great for ronaldo. Not really, no. I would be going insane if I were a gooner, it's nothnig short of footballing rape.

"It is not €40 million," he said on Sunday (Barca president Sandro Rosell). "Barca will pay €29 million and we are very happy, because we said we would not pay more than 30 and we succeeded. On top of that, the variables are €5 million plus five others, but that will be discussed in more detail tomorrow.

"This soap opera has gone on for several years. Tomorrow, the contracts will be signed and we will welcome him as one of us."

Fabregas' ability isn't represented by £35m. Not unless you completely ignore the market. Which would be ridiculous.

Thank feck for that.

What will be the next contender for most tedious transfer "saga" ever? The Sneijder one isn't in the same class at this point.

Our hands were tied with there only being one club he was prepared to go to. Ideally we should have sold him last summer for more money, but Wenger persuaded him to stay in order to accelerate Wilshere's development and bring him through. As it happened, Fabregas hardly played last season while Wilshere came on leaps and bounds. Fabregas was probably going this summer anyway regardless of whatever happened, so I'm not going to say this wasn't expected.

I just made a thread on this in the football forum. Great minds etc...

Good for him. Talent like that shouldn't be wasted rotting at a second rate club.

Right, but inflation will just rapidly increase if we're determining players values on what teams like City and Liverpool are starting to pay.

That's rubbish excuse. Ronaldo was sold for an incredible amount and he too only wanted to go to only one club.

Our hands weren't tied in the sense that Ronaldo outlined 700 clubs he wanted to transfer too? Or did he make it clear from the very start there was only one other club he would transfer too, pretty much exactly the same as Fabregas.

It doesn't really work as an excuse.

Right, but inflation will just rapidly increase if we're determining players values on what teams like City and Liverpool are starting to pay.

You're arguing a different point. Regardless of inflation, on the open market, with no home town club dragging him back, Fabregas was worth much more than that. The rest is immaterial. If your argument is that the reduced fee is representative of the transfer market 'righting' itself then I'd have to disagree.

Has anyone mentioned Fabregas has just been sold for the same price as Carroll?

In fairness it might have been a different story if Madrid hadn't gone straight in with a massive bid. If they'd dicked around on the fee like Barca did it might have been different. Likewise if Fabregas had been coming off the sort of season that Ronaldo was.
