Stupid challenge, though it was the most entertaining thing that happened in the second half for us which says a lot as well. I really can't see Fabio getting another chance now under Moyes which is a real shame. Hopefully us letting fabio go doesn't impact Rafael at all.
Don't see how it will. Rafael had his best season when Fabio wasn't here.

Give the kid a break! He messed up, thats it. His not the first or last kid to get a red for a stupid challenge. I think Moyes will handle this fine. This will not end his United career.

His contracts out in the summer, and given he's played about 10 minutes of first team football this season, it's safe to say his United career is done.

We all hope it's not the end but in reality it is.

You can't expect a player you've frozen out of your entire squad since early August to come on, in rather unfortunate curcumstances (he wouldn't have played if Rio etc didn't get injured) and expect him to do his job efficiently. Fabio basically sticked two fingers up at Moyes and showed him what he thought of him, I'd have done the same if my boss had treated me like that for half a year.

Nobody would blame a player (in Fabio's position) for having a bad game. What we say is his tackle was stupid and it cost us. And your 'I'd have done the same if I had been treated like that' shit sounds very unprofessional, I doubt Fabio did it on purpose. We know da Silvas.

It contributed to us costing the game yes, but the previous 80 minutes were far from perfect. Yeah, we know the Da Silvas, but everyone has their limit. I doubt Fabio really cares what Moyes has to say to him right now.

Christ, really? What a shit attitude to have as a player for a club like Manchester United.

Come on Grinner, it's basic logic. Someone treats you like shit for 6 months, then because he has no other alternatives (Rio injury, entire squad out), he comes grovelling back and asks you to save his skin, you're going to stick two fingers at him and walk away.

Is that actually what has happened or are you thinking this is how it went down? Have you been privy to Moyes discussions with the player?

It doesn't change anything, what he did was stupid and having been frozen out means nothing. Yes, he probably thinks Moyes should play him more often, but I doubt he did it on purpose, simply because he seems to be a person who appreciates fans.

Sorry, but what you've written in this thread... ahhh

Contrary to the norm, this isn't from any press "story" or anything. I think that's actually what happened simply because Fabio's seen inferior players playing in his position(s) (Buttner at left back, Smalling Valencia Phil Jones at right back) whereas he's sat and warmed up the bench for the entire season. The previous 3 are all good players, even great (Smalling and Jones) but Fabio is better than the 4 of them when it comes to left or right back, so to continually see these inferior players get games in his positions AND under-perform time and time again with him not getting a look in, he's going to be mightily frustrated.

Add to that our ugly injury list, Rio getting injured yesterday, and with Valencia being subbed off early, Moyes had no choice but to come grovelling back for Fabio, the guy he's basically ignored for 6 months, to save his skin.

You're well within your rights to disagree buddy, I think Fabio knew entirely what he was doing.

So you're making it up then? That's what I thought.

The fact that you made up this story to have a go at your manager isn't that worrying, rather it's that you think it's acceptable for a player to get himself sent off and help your team crash out of the FA Cup just because he was angry at not being picked to play all season.

Some of you lot are beyond belief. If a player did that at my club I'd be furious and would want him kicked out of the club so fast that his feet didn't touch the ground. But, it's not what happened so it doesn't really matter.

Anyone saying Fabio went out to dump us out of the FA Cup needs their head checked. Grab some tissues and get over it.

He's already leaving in the summer. (Just my opinion)

I think it's there for all of us to see, Fabio has been ignored by Moyes to this point. What Fabio did was stupid, but I understand why he did it. I'm not having a go at my manager because one of his players did something stupid, I'm having a go at my manager for ignoring him and basically treating him like trash for the last six months which basically lead to the player doing that stupid tackle. Both sides in the wrong here, but I can sympathize with Fabio if that makes it clearer.

His United career is already over.

Got sent off on purpose to stick 2 fingers up at Moyes?

If that's aimed at me, you've misunderstood my point.

My point is: Player gets increasingly frustrated with manager over a long period of time, does something stupid. I can sympathize more with the player than the manager in this situation.

Fabio didn't do it deliberately. He was maybe guilty of over exuberance and trying too hard affect the game/impress. That's all. And whilst I'm not trying to blame Moyes, ultimately it really does boil down to how he's been managed in the last few months.

His is situation seems irreparable right now and I wish it wasn't that way because I still maintain that he should be second choice to both Evra and Rafael in both fullback spots. He's better than Büttner at LB, and Smalling/Valencia/Jones at RB. He's one of the few players who always gives 100% and you need those kind of players when you're in the situation we are in. Yes that was his downfall yesterday but that doesn't change the player he is and still has the potential to develop into.

If anything, his eagerness proves that there is nothing wrong with him in training. I believe Fergie said the twins impressed him in training or something like that? He's also back from a good loan spell at QPR, where he played as a RB/LB/winger, so I fail to see why he wouldn't show enough desire in training to get a couple more games. It was a stupid, stupid challenge to make, but he didn't cost us the game. One player down yes, but you make adjustments and deal with it. It's shocking that he's not had more game time, and it's clear that Moyes doesn't rate him that highly. We move on, but what surprises me is that Moyes started him at RB against Crystal Palace and he did nothing wrong, so then why not use him in the absence of Rafael? Why not use him to give Evra competition? I wouldn't make this much noise if he didn't start against Crystal Palace and he was good in pre-season. It's stupid man management of a player that deserves a bit better IMO.

I think this is mostly what irks people. He had a decent game but since then has barely seen the light of day again, yet Büttner has complete stinkers and gets selected over Fabio again. It's frustrating and baffling.

Your posts certainly seemed to imply Fabio got himself sent off deliberately. Apologies if I've misinterpreted them.

fecking Nani, got us knocked out of the Champions League deliberately just because Ferguson didn't play him as often as Valencia!

Slevs, so maybe we should sell Nani and Zaha before they're given another chance?

We can't give opponents the advantage...

Nah, this post is the most clear, the others are just best ignored. Both sides in the wrong, but I can sympathize with Fabio.

Apt tag line.

It's not even like Buttner had great performances after that. He performed poorly against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup fixture and was definitely our weakest player in that game. Subsequently, he was poor against West Brom and contributed to them scoring their first goal (caught high up the pitch and jogging casually).

 right.

Which is rubbish. If you've paid any attention at all you'd have noticed Fabio's injuries after that run in the team and that as we've seen over the years, Evra plays basically every game. Last season Fergie said that to fix his lack of games we'd send him to QPR so as not to waste him.

We've already talked it through with Genius Me and it still dodn't convince me, go to the thread with the title 'This Smalling at right back nonsense' and check my post where I've counted how many games Fabio could've played in the league if he stayed here.

Oh, and argument that 'Evra plays basically every game' is rubbish too, because if we had some decent back up to cover him in more than meaningless games then he would have been rested more of then too I suppose. He was tired last season and is tired now.

What opinion are we talking about here?

That Fergie didn't rate Fabio as of late.

Sorry if you felt I was forcing my opinion on you or calling yours bullishit. I guess we just have to disagree on that one.

Yea no offence taken mate, it's cool. Sorry if it sounded somehow aggresive from me, not intended.

Fixed my post so it doesn't look as bad.

Don't worry, I was probably aggressive in the original debate, a lot of tensions running high with how we're doing right now.

Except it isn't. The reason why Evra played so much was Fabio's unreliability. That's why we got Buttner for cover and Fabio out on loan. Wasn't a case of Fergie not rating him. Just a case of him not being fit long enough to provide decent cover for Evra. He played far more at QPR than Buttner played for us last season showing it was a good decision despite the quality of performances playing for QPR would encourage.

Anyone who genuinely blames Moyes for that red is genuinely stupid. Like seriously do you know your arsehole from your mouth?
