But then again Fabio probably wouldn't want to leave if he were used in games like yesterday and would be happy to sign a new contract?
Yes, but there is one thing talking about it here, it's another thing to know that the manager is looking to buy another leftback and to see Buttner get a game ahead of Fabio, and that they would rather play people out of position before giving him a shot at right back.
I can't help but think that there is either a trust issue or something very significant that makes Fabio fall so far down in the pecking order.

You are probably right there since I thought that when he got the chance he was pretty good and would probably only improve with more game time.

Well for whatever reason, some players seem to need to do a lot to convince Moyes, such as Fabio, Kagawa, Hernandez, Zaha etc. Whereas for some others like Giggs, Welbeck, Young, they seem to have his trust right from the start, and sometimes seemingly for no good reason.

It's either Fabio is utterly shite on the training ground, or .... I dunno what else really.

Some managers/coaches prefer some players over others...C'est la vie

Where is he? Why is Buttner getting gametime ahead of him?

Moyes doesn't seem to like him. I'd expect him to be on the bench in the Shakhtar game and play in the league cup game

Will be a sad day when he leaves :(

It's such a puzzle, how anyone can rate Buttner ahead of a pile of shite is beyond me.

Edit: I'm not calling fabio a pile of shite here btw.

I bet Moyes brought A-Butt on just to give us something to moan about.

I think whoever picks him up when his contract expires will get a potentially very good fullback who can operate on either side.

When are we going to find out what the hell's happening with him? In January, when he's signing elsewhere? Such a frustrating situation!

Do United just not give games to fringe players who wont sign new deals?
In Pogba's last year he didnt even start in any three of the league cup games.
It would be bizarre if we wernt playing him because of this.

Seems illogical. I would assume that it's the other way round; Player unlikely to be offered a new deal as he is out of favour/manager doesn't like him, therefore he won't get a new deal and will be leaving, and therefore no game time given.

Moyes obviously doesn't like him... and that's that.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Arsenal or Chelsea signed him when he's available for free.

I'm just hoping that when he inevitably leaves it doesn't impact Rafael's performance.
Didn't have any impact on him last season when he left. Rafael had the best season of his career. They are big boys now, they will cope.

I still fail to understand what Buttner offers that Fabio doesn't. Its obvious the writing is on the wall for the guy now and I feel that's a shame because he never really got the chance he should have.

He offers a more thug looking to the team. Like he was in jail for assault when he was a minor. That's mostly it. Fabio is more cuddly, and that can't be tolerated.

Absolutely nothing. Buttner is left footed, that's all that he has that makes him more suitable. Buttner is absolutely terrible.

He's highly talented and a proper football player. You really have to wonder why he's not been given a chance, especially after playing in most pre-season games

That's what pisses me off most. Buttner will never ever be a starter for us and even if Moyes had a hard on for footedness he can surely appreciate the flexibility afforded by Fabio on the bench. I just don't get it, at all.

Like most people I really want Fabio to play and do well for us. Given how well Rafael has done it was always just assumed Fabio could achieve the same/similar given a good run of games, plus with his versatility I think he should be ahead of Buttner on the bench. However it's starting to look like...well...maybe he just isn't all that good...

I reckon Buttner, Young and Moyes had a drunken orgy with each other and now poor Moyes is being blackmailed into playing those two clowns.

Is he not being grilled about this at pressers? If not one of you needs to get into one and make him explain what's going on with Fabio.

We really should have a fans representitive at these press conferences to ask questions that the actual fans care about.

You always get the same predictable questions over and over again, pretty boring. We want to know why fabio is out of favour, someone ask the fecking question dammit.

Only reason that would make sense is if Fabio has indicated he isn't interested in signing an extension. Maybe he's reached that stage in his career where he wants to play every week and isn't content at being backup.

I think it might well be that but we should be trying to hold onto him really and playing every fecker on our payroll at fullback before him isn't going to help. My mate works in the cafe at OT, they asked him if he could do a job at left back the other day...

Fabio being an outsider is nothing new under Moyes.

SAF loaned him out last season, and the season before that Fabio started only TWO league games. It was SAF who brought Buttner in, too.

SAF steadily expanded the squad year on year and it's got to the point where there really are just too many players. It's impossible to play all of them.

True. The squad is too bloated.

We need to have a clear out in the summer (though I wish Fabio wasn't part of it).

I did wonder after the Norwich league cup game if it was worth tweeting some of the regular hacks that attend the press conferences to draw their attention to the fans' questions about Fabio, but I doubt they'd be that interested since Fabio won't sell papers/generate clicks/whatever.

To be honest, it's only a few fans on here that seem that bothered about Fabio. It's pretty obvious that Moyes rates others higher, that's the answer. Anyway they only get limited time to ask questions and there's for more important matters.

They seem to manage to ask several questions about Rooney every week though. And I don't think its only a handful on here who care about Fabio. I reckon lots of fans want him playing and staying and would love to understand Moyes' take on the situation.

Maybe because Rooney is currently our most important player?

Moyes' take is obvious, he doesn't think he's good enough, a conclusion SAF seemed to come to as well.

Smalling has had some good performances himself recently and all they asked Smalling about at the Leverkusen press conference was Rooney. It's beyond normal.
Yes Rooney is playing well but it doesn't mean nothing/nobody else is worth discussing. The press are supposed to be writing what the fans want to know/read about but we end up reading the same shite every week and hear Moyes bring asked the same questions every week. I don't see what harm it'd do to ask a questions fans are interested in.

The problem is that the journalists are writing for football fans, not United fans. United fans are interested in what's going on with Fabio but no-one else is. Everyone else just wants to hear about Rooney falling out with Moyes, getting anger management therapy or running out of back hair to put on his head.
