As per that Duncan Castles piece yesterday, it appears that both Di Marzio and Bouhafsi were fed a load of horseshit by Juve/an intermediary. Put simply, they were wrong.

This window has been an absolute muppet killer. Prioritising inferior, older players in Matic etc. is all fine and well if they fit the system, but they're purely stop gaps. We are going to need to look to replace them again in a year or two. What worries me more is the players we are chasing is evidence as to the style of football we're going to play, which I was hoping would be better than last season. Doesn't seem like it.
All we can do is wait and see what happens once the season starts. Jose has no more excuses, he had his settling down season, it was a good season, but anything less than a title challenge and he should be questioned.

Bouhafsi may be a victim of our policy this summer of negotiating for multiple players simultaneously; seems that plenty of British journalists faithfully reported our interest in (and negotiations for) Keane, without realising we were also a long way down the road with Lindelof. Keita was my preferred option before the window even opened, immense talent. Not sure he's what we need though.

We'll fail if we sign the players we're rumoured to be signing. Might sound childish and reactionary but I believe it to be true so I'm putting it out there. Would be delighted to be proven wrong but not targeting the right players this summer will be a mistake we'll look back on as easily avoidable.
I fully expect to be mocked for that but it's just how I feel. If the season doesn't go well and Mourinho has a meltdown we'll be stuck with another broken squad which will need major surgery.
I'd be okay with Herrera playing deeper. Pogba and Keita as the #8s. Leipzig want a lot of money for Keita though, so I don't think that's happening.

It's only June. Often the players would all be at a World Cup/Euros etc. or just back from one now anyway.
Love the transfer saga's but the reliability of social media is a complete lottery. It's simple, just link us to every available centre forward and midfielder and eventually they'll get one right....
