Fabinho

Matic and Fabinho news is just like the Keane and Lindelof news. English press were saying Keane was our priority, and poof! Lindelof annouced subject to medical, with most of the noise coming from foreign papers before that. This seems similar.

It does a bit yes.

Can't see us signing both at all. Especially as the people that are pushing the Matic story (British press) have been adamant that Fabinho is not a target. It will be one or the other and it will be interesting to see who is right.

Fabinho adds passing and tackles to our midfield. Matic is a 2016/2017 carrick replacement.
Strange how average Matic seems to be aerially there.

So, how do you think Jose will incorporate Ander, Pogba, Matic, Fabinho and Valencia into the same XI and also have Fellaini as a backup on the bench?

Ander's match profile may change again for a third consecutive year, but he's good enough and smart enough to adapt. Pogba can partner with either Ander or Matic in a midfield two, not sure about Fabinho at the moment. Then a 3 combination of Pogba, Ander, Matic or Fabinho can be selected. Valencia can be deployed as a traditional RB or RWB. Fabinho will spell Valencia and Ander or Matic. Fellaini can spell Ander with Matic as the stay-at-home center mid in a midfield 3. And if United is chasing a goal or need bite in midfield, Fellaini will be that player.

Not sure, think they are rotating. The thing is if PSG want to keep him, squad depth or because the president likes him, he isnt gettable. And i dont know if he wants to move either, he is probably happy with the current situation i imagine. Maybe one of the French lads knows the situation, but he doesnt look to me like a player ready to move this summer, even if his name gets thrown around every now and then. Semedo on the other hand is definitely on the market and gettable for a decent fee
Meunier and Aurier alternated starts. The rumour is that Henrique would like to keep him while Emery wants to get rid of him and PSG has been linked regularly with new RBs this summer. It seems that Aurier wouldn't mind a move to the PL.

By playing a different team and not the same XI every game

Don't forget injuries, illnesses, suspensions and different competitions we'll be playing in. We won't have the same match squad and/or starting eleven every single time.

I could see him on the right in Chelsea's 3-4-3 and Conte seems to be after physical, athletic players this summer (Van Dijk, Sandro, Bakayoko, Lukaku), for which Aurier would be a good fit.

Interesting, if Arsenal sell Bellerin to Barca, Aurier could go there and PSG could bring in Semedo. Hope a journo picks this up from here :D

I'll be honest, limited viewings of Fabinho but looks ok and young enough to improve. If we buy Matic, I'll be really pi##ed ...

Didn't see anything last season that suggested he'd be a clear step up for us in terms of def mid, nearly 29 (isn't going to get any better/faster?), Chelski looking to dump and (rumoured) £40m?

Thanks but no thanks..... move on, nothing to see here.

I don't understand the RB part of this. From what I see, he looks mobile enough as a midfielder but doesn't seem to have the pace to play RB position. But my idea of fullbacks might be different from the manager's.

He is definitely quicker than Darmian or Blind.

I think he was a RB before with Monaco before being switched to the midfield this season.

He was a FB for Monaco for most of his first two seasons there.

Isn't Aurier a massive United fan? We should really take advantage of that.

Is there any video of his highlights while he was a RB ? How was his crossing ?

He may be the long term replacement of Valencia, then.

Given the number of players who end up playing for clubs they were not huge fans off and the number of times a summer we see some player supposedly state he is a huge fan of club X and then he does not sign with them, well it is something that is very over-rated in terms of signing a player. There are professional footballers not supporters of the club, while you and I would say we would play for our favorite club at the drop of a hat, it seems professional footballers have other priorities.

Well I suppose he's a very good footballer in general and I'd rather have him in our side even if it's RB spot. He would definitely link up well with Mkhitaryan who I feel should be our starting RW.

Yep. I think he was a midfielder but really don't remember this game much, aside from the goals.
He was, Sidibe played RB all last season, think he just drifted to that position to make the cross.

Forgot that Sidibe existed at all. The too much talk on Mende made forgot who was their RB this season.

Mendy is far better, shame he will end up at city and Sandro at chelsea whilst we rotate an intermittently injured Shaw and Darmian in that position..

There's still nothing proving Mende is going to City till now, though. Sandro will be a massive boost for Chelsea.

I don't know what our plans regarding this position are but seems we need to hope Shaw somehow discover his form like he did at the beginning of LVG final season.
