Fabinho

Well, if he wants to join us it should be a formality if we want him. Love hearing about players who genuinely wants to play for Utd.

A midfield trio of Herrera, Fabinho and Pogba would be the best we had in years. This is the signing I really want this summer. He would be absolutely fantastic for us.

I think his guy would complement our midfield perfectly. It would allow Pogba to play more of his natural game. Pogba, Herrera and Fabinho would dominate almost all midfields in the league and in Europe

Of all the English players we have in our squad you picked out Shaw? The guy who has had a grand total of about 9 good games in 3 seasons?
Most likely, we will see Smalling, Lingard, Rashford play in several games, for us. I'd also expect to see some youth players to play in the League Cup, as our focus shifts to CL and the league.

I'm talking about first team starters not squad rotation places. Having looked at our potential team for next season there isn't one English player who would be starting.

Smalling and Jones are back up. Lingard....back up. Rashford will take the bench with Morata coming in.

In my opinion Shaw can still make it here. I don't think that's something to laugh at. If he gets over his nightmare injuries he has the potential to make that Left back position his for the next 6/7 years.

until we get a Di Marzio or Bouhafsi update, this link seems to be being fueled by City ITK's and journo's from Portugal and brazil.

There was none for Falcao or Martial when they came over from Monaco. I don't think there was even a rumor of either and then next thing you knew they were joining us.
Well not entirely true. I had a city fan bang on for 2 days how they were signing Falcao. Its on, he is coming to Manchester. Dont need to tell you he went into hiding after that

Ah .. but di marzio and his team DID link us with him. Said he was top of Jose's midfield targets. Quite a while back though.

hence the "update" bit ;)

Di Marzio said that on the 6th of May, since then it's been ITK's and journo's from odd geographical locations that you wouldn't imagine would be well up to speed on Monaco transfers.

You do want the team to be successful ? When was the last time a team was successful with a core of English players ? The reality is that apart from Deli Ali none are good enough for the really top tier in Europe and even that's debatable or Madrid would get him .

All I'm saying is I don't want us to be constantly starting a full foreign eleven. It would be nice to have at least one English player in there!

True. Our transfers have really been hush hush recently - bad for us transfer muppets, but I think it is the right way to operate. Much better than jetting back during pre season for "transfer business"!

This is the first whisper i have seen...

Also Verratti asks to leave PSG, caught my eye more

Fabinho isn't a third centre-back the way Makalele, for example, used to be. That means our full-backs are going to need to solid defenders and our wingers will need to be able to keep the width. Mourinho certainly isn't going to try and replicate his Inter team. I think he's aiming for something in the mould of his second Chelsea side.

Not sure I like that, to be honest. It's going to necessitate selling a lot of players who can't fit that system. Martial's future looked dodgy enough as it was. If we go down the route of playing orthodox wingers, he won't be at the club much longer.

It would be a good signing, no doubt, but fans will suffer when they start noticing his limitations.

After looking at the XI England put out against Scotland yesterday, I'm not sure that's a good thing.

He's better than Fellaini in every aspect apart from chesting, so I'm pretty sure we will be happy with that.
Considering Fellaini just played #10 in our last game, and is usually our most advanced midfielder in 4-3-3, I don't even see them fighting for the same position, so…

One thing I must say, is that I like that the ages of the players we are signing. Most around the 23 mark meaning we have got a good future with these players to.

Except for Perisic and Mkhitaryan from last year everything else fits Fergie's old club philosophy of buying players earlier in their age and letting them grow into the club.

Well he won't be playing 10 when we play pogba Herrera and Fabinho in a midfield pair.

Yes Fellaini can do a job but the other 3 mentioned are much better footballers

Fergie wasn't shy if buying experienced players if needed. RvP and Blanc spring to mind immediately. But it does seem that Jose is both aiming at instant success as well as very long term success. I am sure he would like a chance to be here for the very long term.

Early 20s is the best age to sign players.
It depends how long can you afford waiting for success. Can Mourinho afford two or three seasons without it? I think not. That's why I wouldn't mind going now for an experience winger (Perišić) and/or poacher.
