To counter the issue , we must be proactive in our transfer buisness and not reactive anymore Since we are no longer guided by fergie. We need to scout and identify the players at very initial stages and purchase him from low level clubs who are lower than the decent mid levels clubs itself. Even if the players fails the fee wont be too much.

CLubs such as southhamption tottenham are doing way better business in identifying those players who are then fetching huge fee in the market and are top players . When Southhampton and tottenham can get the likes of van dyk mane and ali and kane walker for little money, why are united not buying the potnetials proactively just like saf used to do in his tenure?

Simply because we don't need to.

You have to remember that the likes of Spurs and the Saints go bargaining hunting purely out of necessity. United can afford to buy whomever they see fit, why go through all the effort of scouting out targets with potential to come good when you can go just splash the cash for a ready made superstar. I dislike how that sounds just as much as you do mate.

For what it's worth I despise the galactico policy. Were it up to me I'd go with your suggestion all day long, I feel it's something that all football clubs should adhere to. Of course thats more an ideal than reality.

It's not because we don't need to. With the amount of money in the PL, it's very expensive to get these players once they've made their name and sometimes even impossible depending on the club they're at. It's more a case of obviously not being able to sign every talent you spot, players choosing other clubs whether it be for wages or an easier route to the first team, being slower than the club that got them etc etc. A number of reasons really, tough to name one as applicable to all cases.

what do you mean ruthless decisions?

Spend another 100m on those three players to bring our total for one window to £250m?

Ruthless decisons as to get the players we need, without having to let others have gained ground over us. We missed out on pedro to chelsea in second year of lvg and we identified sadio mane as another option but we were not prepared to pay the price required to bring in sadio mane here one year before itself and then lost the race for him because of our other targets but it still was not enough to compete this summer.

We need to go out there with a top balanced squad which we are not doing for 4 years now, and now getting holded ransom by other clubs.

We weren't interested in the guy. People need to accept this and move on. We don't always get the players we'd choose so I don't know why it's suddenly such a big deal with this guy.
We're interested but he's not a priority is more accurate.

That is so not right, and that kind of arrogance will only make it more difficult for us in this cut throat competiton, and this is why we are being held to rasnom. If We are the richest Would you be paying 44 m pounds for perisic , Or 70 m pounds for the likes of van dyk?

Its the case of getting mugged. If you travel often and visit poor countries you will find that you have to pay double or even treble the amount of money for the same items and services the locals use because of being richer of different nationality who can just buy your way out of the problems.

Even the likes of real madrid now are finding it tough to live with the galatico policy and are signing the likes of isco asensio kovacic james and now mbappe who will be just 18 instead of a galactico like hazard, they are also fiding it tough to sign de gea.

We absolutely need to be proactive when you are having a top team to remain a top team or else you'll get mugged .

I put more faith in the numerous journalists that came out and said we have no interest. At no point have i been convinced we're in for him.

The British media know very little. If Di Marzio and Bouhfasi said we were interested then we were, maybe we still are maybe we aren't anymore for whatever reason but we were definitely interested.

Not sure of the point you are trying to make here, mate. Of course we will get "mugged" when we attempt to purchase a player from a club who do not wish to sell, that's just the way of the football world. It's perfectly safe to assume that Jose, Ed and the gang are aware of that fact long before they enter transfer negotiations, and make allowances for it. Obviously I'm speaking from our owners perspective, they make the decisions on our transfer policy, not me. So lay off the arrogance remarks please ;)

The galactico policy is the path Ed and the Glazers have chosen to lead us back to the top. It's the quickest, safest and easiest route for a club of our riches to adopt. You can't blame them for taking this route. And we can air our disapproval until we're blue in the face, but it won't change a thing. They run the club not us. Until this policy proves to be ineffectual in their eyes we're stuck with it.

Personally I despise the galactico policy and share your feelings on it's arrogance. Of course it's easy for the likes of you and I to show contempt for such an "arrogant" policy, but we do not have to answer to the shareholders, sponsors, fans and everyone else associated with the club, those of whom demand instant gratification. They want results for their investment and they want it yesterday. Be reasonable and try seeing the situation from their perspective.

you're acting spoilt, we had an excellent window last summer, you can't expect us to buy every player on the market.

No one is saying that we need all the top players in the market. Fabinho expressed his desire to join us in public, instead of going after him we are going after a player who fell out with Mourinho last season and another player whom we would have to pay OTT money to force Spurs to sell him. There is a difference between acting spoilt and being concerned about the club which you support.

Fabinho and/or his agent expressed interest in going to a number of clubs, maybe for once we refused to be drawn into the games of someone trying to get a better deal at someplace other than United.

Eh, that's pretty much exactly what he was saying. He said we missed out on Sane, Kante, Mane and Dembele on top of the players we bought last summer.

Oh the old 'you're spoilt' card that is used to shut down debate everytime fans protest their concern at the direction the club is taking, from Fergie's value in the market days through to Moyes running down the club there is always a smartass telling you how spoiled you are for pointing out the obvious mistakes the club would be making. The other group will be deferring to the manager's suoperior knowledge and simply expect people to bow down to this dogma of Managerial Infallibility even when they are dead wrong e.g LVG's treatment of Herrera.

Even teams like Real, Barcelona, Man City are rich but they don't have the problems which we have.
Because the problems we currently have are a summation of yesteryear's errors which have left us with an unbalanced squad and its clear to everyone that we need players. Real Madrid and others can raise the middle finger to ridiculous demands because they have competitive squads and are not desperate to get back to the top like we are.

Oh, so you're confident that:
1. Dier and Matic are priorities above Fabinho
2. Fabinho is actually in love with us and would gagging to move to us above all others (despite his "soft corner for City, perhaps?")
3. He's better than all others that we may (or may not) be chasing
4. We're not actually even trying to get him (and that Di Marzio and Bouhafsi are both therefore wrong)
5. Monaco have no option by to sell him to us if we move a finger and say "hey yeah, we do want him"
6. Matic fell out with Mourinho (based on sweet FA?)

Oh and please tell us where Fabinho has expressed such a desire to join us - explicitly and recently.

Get a grip mate. "The summer is long and full of rumours..."

Real Madrid haven't brought anyone this summer as far as I'm aware, neither have Barca (who are not as well off as one might think) and City are still negotiating the Walker transfer with Spurs, in much the same way as United are with Madrid for Morata. Suffice to say they are having the same trouble luring potential targets as we are. The smaller clubs are no longer prepared to just gift away their prized assets. If we plan to buy our way back to the top it's going to cost us and cost us big.

United fans don't know the meaning of the word problem, the vast majority of us have known nothing but success and glory for decades. We're spoilt rotten in that regard.

Are you forgetting City have already spent over 100m on two players - Ederson and Silva?

1. I can only see the rumors and say that they are priorities above him. I can't go and ask Jose or Woodward for the list of players which Jose gave to Woodward.
2. I never said he is desperate to join us, maybe the construct of my sentence was wrong because English isn't my first language.
3. The stats show that he is better than Matic or Dier for the same price.
4. See the first 6 words of my first point. Castles who is apparently close with Mourinho and Mendes has told that we aren't interested in him. Although I agree that he could be wrong.
5. They are a selling club, if we pay enough money and Fabinho agrees to come they can't keep him.
6. Again, no one knows what exactly happened. So I can only assume.

IIRC, he mentioned other clubs. The journalist asked about the players and managers he would like to work with and he mentioned Messi, Guardiola and others, then the journalist asked him about Mourinho and United.

No, of course not. Simply making the point that we aren't the only "rich club" struggling to agree a fee with other clubs.

Silva is a scary signing, I admit. I know very little about Ederson just that he's a keeper.

Being concerned that we are missing out on a good player = Meltdown. Alright. :)

There are literally thousands of good players scattered across the globe, we can't be in for them all mate. You need to have a little more faith in Ed and Jose and trust in the fact that they will bend over backwards to secure any and all potential targets.

Jose Mourinho picks Matic ahead of Fabinho. If he cant win PL next season, he's out.

We let Fabinho go to PSG, Chelsea fail to sign Bakayoko and we fail to land Matic.
What a clusterfeck that would be.
