He's not great but I think he'll do well now Mourinho is here and surely can do a job. Valencia is a decent cover.
Valencia is not a fullback and that becomes abundantly clear any time positioning is required. Darmian may improve but that's optimistic.
As things stand we don't have a proper RB worthy of being first choice for United.
Darmian might improve to become a decent defensive RB, but he will never be a FB or even decent attacking RB, which is the minimum we should require. Top teams today need to have a threat from two attacking FB's.

Monaco are to us what Southampton are to the scouse. Could be our 3rd player from them in consecutive seasons.
I think Fapinho will be great for us. Darmian might develop into a solid Right Back, but he will ever be a Full Back that can contribute in attack as well as defence. He just doesn't have that in his locker.
If we get Fabinho I think Darmian is done.

Really hope it's true that we are in for Fabinho. I think right back is a position we are weak at, I see people suggesting that we should start Darmian and give him another season but honestly I don't rate him at all. I would much rather have Fabinho with TFM and Valencia as cover. We should be looking to sell Darmian back to a club in Italy. Surely there's buyers.

I had obviously repressed the memory of him ever having played for us, it's pretty upsetting remembering Well im not going to lie. His youtube comp is certainly fun. He looks brilliant. I cant post links as of yet (newbie) but there is one titled Fabinho Man United Target and it shows all his repotiore crossing/positional play/running/dribbling and reactions. He looks brilliant. Definitely a few levels above Darmian.
Think he will be expensive but worth every penny. No harm in having him, Darmian and Valencia fighting it out for that position. TFM is not a RB and I doubt he ever will be. He will be Smallings eventual replacement in a few years.

Never watched him play but heard good things about him. We've lacked at RB since Nevile and 1 or 2 season where Rafael wasn't injured. Full backs who can attack are such an important part of an excellent team. Madrid - Marcelo - Carvahal, Barca - Alba - Alvez, Bayern - Alaba - Lahm all those players offer a lot in attack.

TFM shouldn't be getting opportunities at RB though, I'd much rather him take his chances in positions he's most likely to end up playing.
I agree, Fosu-Mensah is hardly a long-term option at RB. As it stands, he's all over the place positionally off the ball and still too rough technically going forward. Being very fast and having a pretty good slide tackle doesn't equate to being a proper RB. In any case, I could see Fabinho replacing Darmian and/or Valencia, with at least one of the two moved on should we buy him.

Thinking about that report that said Mou was acting like he had already signed Pogba, maybe this is what it meant? As in we've moved on to strengthening secondary positions now that we think the four primary ones are done.

We had any solid links for him recently? I know Di Marzio mentioned him earlier in the window but our business looked to be on hold till the Pogba stuff was sorted out.
A lot of the core qualities in a modern fullback and a box-to-box centre mid are the same so it wouldn't be hindering his development in any way.
