F1 2024 Season

"The driver was 0.63 seconds below the minimum time at VSC End when the FIA light panels changed to green. This indicates a sporting advantage gained under VSC."

Making sure somehow Max doesnt win the title.

No of course he's not biased. On an unrelated note he'll be giving an exclusive interview to Betfair on Monday to whore more attention explain himself again.

you were only too happy when he was the golden boy getting preferential fia treatment to increase fan engagement.

Doesn't make Herbert being a steward or those with McLaren ties any less problematic. As most drivers are in support of - they need to be full time paid positions and fully independent.

I mean he was literally alongside Piastri’s back wheels before it went green. Not much controversy really, when rationally looked at.

Red Bull looks quick anyway, he will win the main race.

the whole sport decided it wasn’t independent in 2021. it’s a wwe entertainment style business where decisions are manufactured based on what sells. max dominating doesn’t sell, just like hamilton didn’t. reap what you sow.

That's a slam dunk penalty. Pretty stupid error from Verstappen, throws away a point

No I was just happy the best driver won the championship in 2021. Not about how it had to come about.

At least Michael Masi wasnt giving interviews to betting sites every week suggesting he knew the inner workings of Hamilton's mind.

Norris was definitely holding back. And Verstappen will lose a fair chunk of time coming through.

If Norris can get a good grid position tomorrow there is just no way they lose to the Red Bull. Need Piastri to have a good qualy session again

that’s cos masi’s was so bad they had to pay and nda.

Max was given a championship and the fans that he got into f1 think that's just the way it goes.

It’s an electronic timing thing. The steward has no role to play in it. Either you’re under the delta time or over it. Slam dunk penalty. Just like the pit lane speed limits

Then why not immediately give it. Why take so much time, summon both driver and team, etc.. circus.

That was all a bit strange, why was max attacking before the virtual safety car ended?
Because he expected it to be fine like it has been the previous 15 times he's done it.

(for me it's not a clear cut thing though, arguably you could get the driver behind you in trouble if you wanted if this how they handle it. Just take a few extra wide turns.)

Seeing that qualifying is delayed but heavy rain is forecast for the next 3 hours or so.
Could get qualifying Sunday ?
I think so, though if it's too wet for qually tomorrow, does that mean they will use the results of sprint race to decide the grid?

If that happens Norris will start P1 and Verstappen P9. That will be interesting to watch.

If there's no qualifying what determines the grid? Sprint qualifying? Sprint result? FP1?

If it went by FP1 Max would end up starting 20th.
Sprint qually result I think. As on a normal GP weekend it would be the result of the last FP session that ran i.e. FP3 normally

I guess giving the driver and team a right of reply means it doesn’t fuel any conspiracy theories that Herbert is the next Michael Masi.

He himself acknowledged it seems he was overzealous a bit and that he didn't properly adjust for Piastri dropping back and then making the connection again. Feels like a combination of perhaps being caught mildly asleep and being overly eager to make the restart count like he usually does.

Yeah, no way we have any running today. It is a shame we can't see them go at in these conditions. Norris and Verstappen are probably the best alongside Hamilton in the wet

That's wild and I wouldn't rule it out but logically I can't see how it would work. Water temperature increases and will increase degradation. Plus also the added weight of water to the car would no doubt be a detriment.

without newey they’re just guessing at how things on a car works.

How would water that has been sitting in a heated tire cool that tire from the inside? Only benefit I see is it increases the thermal mass... but that has to be more than outweighed by the added actual mass. Sounds made up.

Well tyre temperatures are both surface and core. I have no idea if it’s physically possible or not but I could see how it might cool the core. Having said that these tyres heat to around 100 degrees and so, how long would the advantage last? The water would heat to par and / or boil off in no time.

 RedBull tried this a few years ago themselves and it was instantly banned by the FIA.

Besides all of the tyres are returned to pirelli post race, used or unused for analysis.

Id be utterly amazed if this were true.

If herbert 'michael masi's', Norris into a WDC title, then I'm all for it.
